Timing the decision support for real-world many-objective optimization problems
Lately, there is growing emphasis on improving the scalability of multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) so that many-objective problems (characterized by more than three objectives) can be effectively dealt with. Alternatively, the utility of integrating decision maker’s (DM’s) preferences into the optimization process so as to target some most preferred solutions by the DM (instead of the whole Pareto-optimal front), is also being increasingly recognized. The authors here, have earlier argued that despite the promises in the latter approach, its practical utility may be impaired by the lack of—objectivity, repeatability, consistency, and coherence in the DM’s preferences. To counter this, the authors have also earlier proposed a machine learning based decision support framework to reveal the preference-structure of objectives. Notably, the revealed preference-structure may be sensitive to the timing of application of this framework along an MOEA run. In this paper the authors counter this limitation, by integrating a termination criterion with an MOEA run, towards determining the appropriate timing for application of the machine learning based framework. Results based on three real-world many-objective problems considered in this paper, highlight the utility of the proposed integration towards an objective, repeatable, consistent, and coherent decision support for many-objective problems

Effects of hydrostatic pressure on the magnetic susceptibility of ruthenium oxide Sr3Ru2O7: Evidence for pressure-enhanced antiferromagnetic instability
Hydrostatic pressure effects on the temperature- and magnetic field
dependencies of the in-plane and out-of-plane magnetization of the bi-layered
perovskite Sr3Ru2O7 have been studied by SQUID magnetometer measurements under
a hydrostatic helium-gas pressure. The anomalously enhanced low-temperature
value of the paramagnetic susceptibility has been found to systematically
decrease with increasing pressure. The effect is accompanied by an increase of
the temperature Tmax of a pronounced peak of susceptibility. Thus,
magnetization measurements under hydrostatic pressure reveal that the lattice
contraction in the structure of Sr3Ru2O7 promotes antiferromagnetism and not
ferromagnetism, contrary to the previous beliefs. The effects can be explained
by the enhancement of the inter-bi-layer antiferromagnetic spin coupling,
driven by the shortening of the superexchange path, and suppression, due to the
band-broadening effect, of competing itinerant ferromagnetic correlations.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figure
Trans-ancestry genome-wide association study identifies 12 genetic loci influencing blood pressure and implicates a role for DNA methylation
We carried out a trans-ancestry genome-wide association and replication study of blood pressure phenotypes among up to 320,251 individuals of East Asian, European and South Asian ancestry. We find genetic variants at 12 new loci to be associated with blood pressure (P = 3.9 × 10-11 to 5.0 × 10-21). The sentinel blood pressure SNPs are enriched for association with DNA methylation at multiple nearby CpG sites, suggesting that, at some of the loci identified, DNA methylation may lie on the regulatory pathway linking sequence variation to blood pressure. The sentinel SNPs at the 12 new loci point to genes involved in vascular smooth muscle (IGFBP3, KCNK3, PDE3A and PRDM6) and renal (ARHGAP24, OSR1, SLC22A7 and TBX2) function. The new and known genetic variants predict increased left ventricular mass, circulating levels of NT-proBNP, and cardiovascular and all-cause mortality (P = 0.04 to 8.6 × 10-6). Our results provide new evidence for the role of DNA methylation in blood pressure regulation
Pharmacological effects of Sapindus mukorossi
Sapindus mukorossi is an extremely valuable medicinal plant, distributed in tropical and sub-tropical regions of Asia. The aim of present review is to form a short compilation of the phytochemical composition and pharmacological properties of this multipurpose tree. The main phytoconstituents isolated and identified from different parts of this plant are triterpenoidal saponins of oleanane, dammarane and tirucullane type. The structure and chemical names of all the types of triterpenoidal saponins reported in Sapindus mukorossi are included in this review. Many research studies have been conducted to prove the plant's potential as being spermicidal, contraceptive, hepatoprotective, emetic, anti-inflammatory and anti-protozoal. The present review highlights some of the salient pharmacological uses of Sapindus mukorossi
Anemia prevalence in women of reproductive age in low- and middle-income countries between 2000 and 2018
Anemia is a globally widespread condition in women and is associated with reduced economic productivity and increased mortality worldwide. Here we map annual 2000–2018 geospatial estimates of anemia prevalence in women of reproductive age (15–49 years) across 82 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), stratify anemia by severity and aggregate results to policy-relevant administrative and national levels. Additionally, we provide subnational disparity analyses to provide a comprehensive overview of anemia prevalence inequalities within these countries and predict progress toward the World Health Organization’s Global Nutrition Target (WHO GNT) to reduce anemia by half by 2030. Our results demonstrate widespread moderate improvements in overall anemia prevalence but identify only three LMICs with a high probability of achieving the WHO GNT by 2030 at a national scale, and no LMIC is expected to achieve the target in all their subnational administrative units. Our maps show where large within-country disparities occur, as well as areas likely to fall short of the WHO GNT, offering precision public health tools so that adequate resource allocation and subsequent interventions can be targeted to the most vulnerable populations.Peer reviewe
