This study describes synchronically the major morphological and syntactic features of the Soqotri Dialect of Galansiyah (henceforth, SDG) in Soqotra Island, Yemen
Exploring the role of ambidexterity and coopetition in designing resilient fashion supply chains: a multi-evidence based approach
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the knowledge gaps in the extant literature on the role of ambidexterity and coopetition in designing resilient fashion supply chains (RFSCs), and to develop a contextual framework for effective decision-making to enable practitioners to enhance their supply chain resilience.
Design/methodology/approach: The study adopts a novel Multi-Evidence-Based Approach comprising Denyer and Tranfield’s (2009) systematic literature review with Context, Intervention, Mechanisms and Outcome (CIMO) logic, text mining and network analysis. The approach constitutes a rigorous methodology that cross-validates results and ensures the reliability and validity of findings.
Findings: The authors identified key knowledge gaps in the literature and explored the main contribution categories (e.g. conceptual understandings, operational impacts, use of theories and frameworks). Subsequently, we developed a contextual framework of ambidextrous coopetition to design RFSCs. Finally, an empirical research agenda is proposed with the five research directions to address the gap and take forward the notion of ambidextrous coopetition and RFSCs.
Research limitations/implications: The Multi-Evidence-Based Approach is a structured and triangulated systematic literature review approach and thus lacks empirical study.
Practical implications: This research proposes a contextual framework of ambidextrous coopetition that can be used by fashion companies to embed resilience into their structures and operations. This research also presents an agenda for the future empirical research.
Originality/value: This paper contributes by providing a combinatory synthesis on the role of ambidexterity and coopetition in designing RFSCs. This paper introduces a novel methodological triangulation for improving the quality and validity of SLRs. It identifies significant knowledge gaps and defines directions for future research
Sustainable supply chain management towards disruption and organizational ambidexterity:A data driven analysis
Balancing sustainability and disruption of supply chains requires organizational ambidexterity. Sustainable supply chains prioritize efficiency and economies of scale and may not have sufficient redundancy to withstand disruptive events. There is a developing body of literature that attempts to reconcile these two aspects. This study gives a data-driven literature review of sustainable supply chain management trends toward ambidexterity and disruption. The critical review reveals temporal trends and geographic distribution of literature. A hybrid of data-driven analysis approach based on content and bibliometric analyses, fuzzy Delphi method, entropy weight method, and fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory is used on 273 keywords and 22 indicators obtained based on the experts’ evaluation. The most important indicators are identified as supply chain agility, supply chain coordination, supply chain finance, supply chain flexibility, supply chain resilience, and sustainability. The regions show different tendencies compared with others. Asia and Oceania, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Africa are the regions needs improvement, while Europe and North America show distinct apprehensions on supply chain network design. The main contribution of this review is the identification of the knowledge frontier, which then leads to a discussion of prospects for future studies and practical industry implementation
Nominalization in Soqotri, a South Arabian language of Yemen
"In his recent article Deutscher (2009: 199) suggests that “nominalization
is an unsung hero in the story of subordination”. He goes on to say that
“[t]he ability to derive a noun from a verb, that is, to reify a verbal predicate
and present it as a nominal argument or modifier, is the core of subordination”.
While Deutscher (2009) believes that the relevant nominalization
for his study is “derivational nominalization”, which derives
nouns from verbs, we find his characterization of nominalization as an
unsung hero to be quite fitting not only in the study of subordination but
also in other related phenomena, which we wish to characterize as the
case of “grammatical nominalization”. Unlike derivational or lexical
nominalization of the employ-er/employ-ee type, which supplies the lexicon
with new lexical items belonging to the noun class, grammatical
nominalization yields nominal expressions but which are not nouns. We
shall explicate the difference between lexical nominalization and grammatical
nominalization below, from which various properties of grammatical
nominalizations follow.
The issues addressed in this paper are those nominal expressions
that have been discussed under the heading of “noun phrases without
nouns” byMatthew Dryer in his recent review of noun phrase structure
(Dryer 2007)
The Effect of Speaking Anxiety on EFL Saudi Learners' Performance
Anxiety plays a significant role in students' oral performance and achievement in EFL speaking classes. This study applied a mixed-method approach using a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews in order to investigate tertiary level students' English language anxiety at Najran University. It also examines its main causes. In addition, it explores the effects of anxiety on students' performance in EFL classrooms and the role of gender differences on the level anxiety. The study reveals that the main factors that contribute to EFL speaking anxiety among Saudi EFL students are fear of negative evaluation, fear of interaction, fear of perception of others and lack of confidence, respectively. The study also found that female students were more anxious compared to male students in EFL speaking classrooms. In addition, it showed a negative connection between FLA and students' performance in speaking classes in that high-level anxiety students experience poor speaking performance. The study implicates the role of speaking teachers in reducing the anxiety among students.
Myxoinflammatory Fibroblastic Sarcoma of the Hand
Summary:. Myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma is an ultra-rare tumor type with a prevalence of fewer than two per 100,000 people. The tumor poses a challenge because it can be misdiagnosed as a benign lesion in clinical and radiological investigations, causing serious morbidity in patients. We present the case of a 33-year-old patient who presented with painless hand swelling that was misdiagnosed as lymphaticovenous malformation based on magnetic resonance imaging. The patient underwent surgical excision, and myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma was diagnosed postoperatively. All surgical interventions failed to achieve negative margin. A decision to start radiotherapy was made, and tissue convergence was done temporally using acellular dermal matrix and split-thickness skin graft. On patient follow-up, the graft had taken well, and the patient was undergoing radiotherapy sessions with a plan for permanent hand reconstruction after negative margins are achieved. Based on this case report, we identified that magnetic resonance imaging is not yet a reliable method to diagnose myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma. Therefore, implementing a multidisciplinary team approach, a preoperative core needle biopsy, planned surgical intervention, and early involvement of radiotherapy is recommended to minimize morbidity. We strongly urge establishing a sarcoma specialized treatment center in the region to limit patient morbidity
