Sexualidade, vinculação, emoções e comportamento alimentar na obesidade

Dissertação de Mestrado apresentada ao ISPA - Instituto Universitário, na especialidade de Psicologia Clínica.Problema: A obesidade é uma doença crónica com aumento exponencial em todo o mundo, detém elevados custos sociais e implicação em múltiplos contextos e dimensões inerentes à qualidade humana, como a sexualidade. Mostra-se pertinente aprofundar o conhecimento da relação entre a obesidade e a sexualidade integrando variáveis psicoemocionais e afetivas transversais ao ser humano, bem como a resposta de ingestão alimentar dos obesos. Objetivo: Procurou-se estudar a relação entre os aspetos psicoemocionais, o comportamento alimentar, os estilos de vinculação e a satisfação sexual em indivíduos obesos. Método: A amostra de 338 indivíduos, agrupada segundo o IMC, respondeu a um Questionário Sociodemográfico e Clínico, ao EAT-26, ao EADS-21, à NSSS e ao ECR-R. Resultados e Conclusão: Constatou-se uma marcada dificuldade dos obesos em vivenciarem a sua sexualidade, no que respeita à satisfação sexual, independentemente dos estilos de vinculação ou alterações psicoemocionais.------ABSTRACT------ Problem: Obesity is a chronic disease that has been increasing exponentially throughout the world, it has high social costs and implications in multiple contexts and dimensions inherent to human nature, such as sexuality. It is relevant to deepen the knowledge of the relationship between obesity and sexuality integrating affective and psycho-emotional variables transversal to humans, as well as the response to food intake of the obese. Objective: We sought to study the relationship among psycho-emotional aspects, eating behavior, attachment styles and sexual satisfaction in obese individuals. Methods: A sample of 338 individuals grouped according to BMI answered a Clinical and Socio-demographic questionnaire, the EAT-26, the EADS-21, the NSSS and the ECR-R. Results and Conclusion: Regardless of attachment styles or psycho-emotional alterations, it was found that there is an evident difficulty of experiencing sexual satisfaction among obese patients

A satisfação e atitudes dos docentes face à inclusão de crianças com necessidades educativas especiais na região autónoma da Madeira

A ideia de escola inclusiva é uma realidade com a qual todos se confrontam nos dias de hoje. Esta ajuda a promover o desenvolvimento das pessoas com e sem necessidades educativas especiais, tendo demonstrado ser um grande benefício para todos. Este estudo tem como objetivo compreender qual a satisfação dos docentes face à inclusão dos alunos com necessidades educativas especiais, na Região Autónoma da Madeira, bem como compreender a atitude e perspetiva dos educadores de infância e professores dos ensinos básico e secundário em relação a esta problemática. Na realização deste estudo, utilizou-se um inquérito por questionário para a recolha de dados, recorrendo a uma metodologia de cariz quantitativo. Os resultados desta investigação concluem que os docentes apresentam valores baixos a médios, no que se refere à sua satisfação profissional face à inclusão. Observou-se que os docentes mais novos demonstraram uma maior satisfação. Verifica-se também que os docentes do sexo masculino revelaram estar mais satisfeitos do que os do sexo feminino. Finalmente, constatou-se que os docentes com menos tempo de serviço estão mais satisfeitos do que os que possuem mais tempo de serviço. No que diz respeito às atitudes, verificamos que os professores concordaram que os docentes mais jovens, os que têm menos tempo de serviço e os do sexo feminino possuem atitudes mais favoráveis face à inclusão das crianças com NEE.The idea of an all-inclusive school is a reality that people face every day. This idea helps further the development of individuals, both with and without educational special needs, and has a demonstrable benefit for all involved. This study’s goal is to understand the teaching staff’s satisfaction when facing the inclusion of children with educational special needs in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, as well as comprehending attitudes and viewpoints of pre-school and primary school teachers when dealing with this issue. For this study a questionnaire enquiry was utilized for data collection based on a quantitative methodology. This investigation’s results conclude that the teaching staff show low to average levels of professional satisfaction when faced with the inclusion of children with educational special needs. A greater satisfaction level was observed among the younger teaching staff. Male teaching staff reported higher satisfaction levels than the female teaching staff. Lastly it was observed that the teaching staff with a shorter career span showed higher satisfaction levels than those with a longer career span. Attitude wise, the study shows that the younger, female teaching staff with a shorter career span present a more favourable attitude with regard to the inclusion of children with educational special needs

Automatic Filtering of Soil CO2 Flux Data; Different Statistical Approaches Applied to Long Time Series

Monitoring soil CO2 diffuse degassing areas has become more relevant in the last decades to understand seismic and/or volcanic activity. These studies are specially valuable for volcanic areas without visible manifestations of volcanism, such as fumaroles or thermal springs. The development and installation of permanent soil CO2 flux instruments has allowed to acquire long time series in different volcanic environments, and the results obtained highlight the influence of environmental variables on the gas flux variations. Filtering the influence of these external variables on the gas flux is crucial to understand deep processes on the volcanic system. This study focuses on the discussion of different statistical approaches applied to the long time series recorded in a diffuse degassing area of the Azores archipelago, mainly on the application of stepwise multivariate regression analysis, wavelets and Fast Fourier transforms to understand the CO2 flux variations and to detect eventual anomalous periods that can represent deep changes in the volcano feeding reservoirs. A permanent soil CO2 flux station is installed at Caldeiras da Ribeira Grande area since June 2010. This degassing site is located at Fogo Volcano, a polygenetic volcano at S. Miguel Island. The station performs measurements based on the accumulation chamber method and has coupled several environmental sensors. Average soil CO2 flux and soil temperature values around 1,165 gm−2 d−1 and 33°C, respectively, were measured in this site between June 2010 and June 2017. Multivariate regression analysis shows that about 47% of the soil CO2 flux variations are explained by the effect of the soil and air temperature, wind speed, and soil water content. Spectral analysis highlights the existence of 24 h cycles in the soil CO2 flux time series, mainly during the summer period. The filtered time series showed some anomalous periods and a correlation with the geophysical data recorded on the area was carried out. The models proposed have been applied on a near real-time automatic monitoring system and implementation of these approaches will be profitable in any volcano observatory of the world since it allows a fast understanding of the degassing processes and contribute to recognize unrest periods

Large expert-curated database for benchmarking document similarity detection in biomedical literature search

Document recommendation systems for locating relevant literature have mostly relied on methods developed a decade ago. This is largely due to the lack of a large offline gold-standard benchmark of relevant documents that cover a variety of research fields such that newly developed literature search techniques can be compared, improved and translated into practice. To overcome this bottleneck, we have established the RElevant LIterature SearcH consortium consisting of more than 1500 scientists from 84 countries, who have collectively annotated the relevance of over 180 000 PubMed-listed articles with regard to their respective seed (input) article/s. The majority of annotations were contributed by highly experienced, original authors of the seed articles. The collected data cover 76% of all unique PubMed Medical Subject Headings descriptors. No systematic biases were observed across different experience levels, research fields or time spent on annotations. More importantly, annotations of the same document pairs contributed by different scientists were highly concordant. We further show that the three representative baseline methods used to generate recommended articles for evaluation (Okapi Best Matching 25, Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency and PubMed Related Articles) had similar overall performances. Additionally, we found that these methods each tend to produce distinct collections of recommended articles, suggesting that a hybrid method may be required to completely capture all relevant articles. The established database server located at https://relishdb.ict.griffith.edu.au is freely available for the downloading of annotation data and the blind testing of new methods. We expect that this benchmark will be useful for stimulating the development of new powerful techniques for title and title/abstract-based search engines for relevant articles in biomedical research.Peer reviewe

Empreendedorismo social: experiência, inovação, sustentabilidade e impacto social a partir de um estudo de caso : Parque Biológico da Serra da Lousã

Dissertação de mestrado em Intervenção Social, Inovação e Empreendedorismo, apresentada à Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação e à Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de CoimbraA realidade do contexto económico, político e social é polémica. A procura de ajustes é constante, entre uma economia fragilizada, um campo social complexo e uma política à procura de estabilidade enquanto base e suporte na criação de respostas justas. As transformações e as mutações sociais são constantes e a decisão e a acreditação de ações que possam realmente fazer a diferença é um desafio. Neste sentido, o estudo expressa uma reflexão e compreensão de um caso de Empreendedorismo Social a nível local com o significado de identificar as dimensões que estão patentes num projeto deste cariz, desde a sua conceção, implementação e consolidação, perceber e analisar a inovação social subjacente a todo o processo. E por último, compreender os impactes e resultados para quem beneficia, para quem o promove e qual a perspetiva da comunidade perante o projeto. Dado o intuito do estudo, integrado no paradigma qualitativo, foi realizada uma recolha de dados através de entrevistas semi - estruturadas e a realização de um Grupo Focal, com uma reflexão e verificação dos resultados através de análise de conteúdo. Estes resultados dão conta que a conceção do projeto de empreendedorismo social destaca-se pela estratégia construída desde o início do projeto, desse uma ação contínua, envolvendo beneficiários, técnicos que fazem parte da organização que está associada ao projeto e parcerias. A participação de todos estes agentes e criação de relações de transparência e de compromisso refletem a consolidação do projeto.The reality of the economic, political and social context is controversial. The search for adjustment is constant between a fragile economy, a complex social and political environment looking for stability, as base and support to the creation of fare actions. The social mutation and transformation are constant, as decision and actions accreditation that could make the real difference still a challenge. This work expresses a reflection and comprehension of social entrepreneurship case at local level, with the purpose to identify the dimensions related to such project, from the conception to consolidation, as to understand and analyze the social innovation submitted during the process. For last, understand the impacts and results for those who benefits from it, to the promoters and what is the community point of view of the project. Once the study is integrated in the qualitative paradigm, it was performed a data collection with a semi-structured interview and a focal group reunion, subjected to reflection and results verification through content analysis. From the presented results, is possible to infer that conception of a social entrepreneurship project differs from the beginning at the adopted strategy and at the continuous action, involving the beneficiaries and technicians, who are part of the organization associated to the project as to partnerships. The participation of all intervenient as the creation of transparent and committed relations, reflect the project consolidation
