Document recommendation systems for locating relevant literature have mostly relied on methods developed a decade ago. This is largely due to the lack of a large offline gold-standard benchmark of relevant documents that cover a variety of research fields such that newly developed literature search techniques can be compared, improved and translated into practice. To overcome this bottleneck, we have established the RElevant LIterature SearcH consortium consisting of more than 1500 scientists from 84 countries, who have collectively annotated the relevance of over 180 000 PubMed-listed articles with regard to their respective seed (input) article/s. The majority of annotations were contributed by highly experienced, original authors of the seed articles. The collected data cover 76% of all unique PubMed Medical Subject Headings descriptors. No systematic biases were observed across different experience levels, research fields or time spent on annotations. More importantly, annotations of the same document pairs contributed by different scientists were highly concordant. We further show that the three representative baseline methods used to generate recommended articles for evaluation (Okapi Best Matching 25, Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency and PubMed Related Articles) had similar overall performances. Additionally, we found that these methods each tend to produce distinct collections of recommended articles, suggesting that a hybrid method may be required to completely capture all relevant articles. The established database server located at https://relishdb.ict.griffith.edu.au is freely available for the downloading of annotation data and the blind testing of new methods. We expect that this benchmark will be useful for stimulating the development of new powerful techniques for title and title/abstract-based search engines for relevant articles in biomedical research.Peer reviewe

ABSTRACT: Unilateral termination of employment relations is absolutely not allowed and is very clear, except for certain circumstances that compel the dismissal to be carried out, as stipulated in the "Industrial Relations Dispute Settlement Law". Unilateral layoffs by PT. Ruata's work for the workforce “Mr. VG” via Whatsapp. Mr. VG” did not receive a Decree as an employee of PT. Karya Ruata, and did not sign the Collective Labor Agreement between PT. Ruata's work with the workforce of “Mr. VG”. This research uses normative juridical research methods, namely library law research and because this research is carried out by having library materials. The approach in normative research is the Statute Approach and the Conceptual Approach. In this study, a descriptive-analytical type of research will be used. The results showed that the layoffs carried out by PT. Ruata's work to “Mr. VG” through online media (Whatsapp) is not in accordance with the provisions of the law. Article 81 number 43 of the Job Creation Law. PT Karya Ruata is not responsible for the unilateral termination of “Mr. VG” Through Online Media (Whatsapp). The unilateral dismissal action, clearly based on Article 1320 of the Civil Code, does not meet the objective requirements for the implementation of the agreement, namely the causa conditions that are allowed, so that the termination action is null and void by law. As a result of being null and void, the said dismissal by law is deemed to have never happened and therefore “Mr. VG” remains united as an employee of PT. Ruata's work, but until now “Mr. VG” is no longer working for PT. Ruata's work, and there is no settlement according to the provisions of the law

Antiarrhythmic effects of interleukin 1 inhibition after myocardial infarction.

BackgroundInterleukin 1β (IL-1β) is a key regulator of the inflammatory response after myocardial infarction (MI) by modulating immune cell recruitment, cytokine production, and extracellular matrix turnover. Elevated levels of IL-1β are associated with adverse remodeling, and inhibition of IL-1 signaling after MI results in improved contractile function.ObjectiveThe goal of this study was to determine whether IL-1 signaling also contributes to post-MI arrhythmogenesis.MethodsMI was created in 2 murine models of elevated inflammation: atherosclerotic on the Western diet or wild-type with a subseptic dose of lipopolysaccharide. The role of IL-1β was assessed with the IL-1 receptor antagonist anakinra (10 mg/(kg·d), starting 24 hours post-MI).ResultsIn vivo and ex vivo molecular imaging showed reduced myocardial inflammation after a 4-day course of anakinra treatment, despite no change in infarct size. At day 5 post-MI, high-speed optical mapping of transmembrane potential and intracellular Ca2+ in isolated hearts revealed that IL-1β inhibition improved conduction velocity, reduced action potential duration dispersion, improved intracellular Ca2+ handling, decreased transmembrane potential and Ca2+ alternans magnitude, and reduced spontaneous and inducible ventricular arrhythmias. These functional improvements were linked to increased expression of connexin 43 and sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase.ConclusionThis study revealed a novel mechanism for IL-1β in contributing to defective excitation-contraction coupling and arrhythmogenesis in the post-MI heart. Our results suggest that inhibition of IL-1 signaling post-MI may represent a novel antiarrhythmic therapy

Bottom-up Food: Making Rāmen a Gourmet Food in Tokyo

This article introduces the Japanese concept of kodawari—meaning obession and a detailed personal aesthetic—as an analytical category to think about the process by which everyday foods are valorized as gourmet. I show that the kodawari of chefs and consumers influence each other and combine to create an aesthetic appreciation of rāmen noodles, elevating it from its inexpensive background to an object of gourmet desire in contemporary Japan. Kodawari is an individual experience, and chefs develop their own techniques to make their rāmen bowls stand out. Likewise, consumers learn to appreciate the personal touches of chefs and shops, while at the same time developing their own complex sensorial appreciation for rāmen from their individual vantage point. Based on ethnographic fieldwork in rāmen shops in Tokyo with chefs and aficionados, this article shows how their efforts result in the valorization of an everyday food item
