O artigo apresenta os resultados parciais de pesquisa sobre Homicídios na Área Metropolitana de Brasília (AMB). O foco da análise são as representações sociais dos delegados de Polícia, promotores de justiça e magistrados. Se as representações sociais revelam, ainda que parcialmente, as práticas sociais, indaga-se: como os atores que integram diferentes organizações do sistema de justiça criminal descrevem suas funções? Como avaliam as condições de trabalho disponibilizadas? De que forma avaliam como são implantadas as políticas de segurança pública nas diferentes cidades que integram a Área Metropolitana de Brasília?The article discusses the results of a research concerning murders committed in the metropolitan area of Brasilia, DF, the capital of Brazil. The analysis is focused on the social representations of Police chiefs, prosecutors and judges. Conceding that social representations indicate, at least in part, the social practices, the study inquired: how do the agents within the various organizations of the criminal justice system represent their duties? How do they evaluate their working conditions in the area? How do they evaluate the policies applied in the cities of Brasilia metropolitan area of Brasilia

Violência e justiça criminal na área metropolitana de Brasília: dinâmicas organizacionais e representações sociais

The article is based on an empirical research concerning homicides in Metropolitan Area of Brasília. The first step was the georeferenced localization of homicides in 2010. From this point, after detecting 565 deaths officially registered in the area, the focus was directed to the flux of the criminal justice system in three selected cities: Luziânia, Cidade Ocidental and Águas Lindas de Goiás. This article intends to focus on organizational dynamics and the social representations of the actors of the criminal justice system in the studied area.O artigo tem como base empírica pesquisa sobre os homicídios na AMB (Área Metropolitana de Brasília). O ponto de partida foi a análise georeferencial das mortes registradas no ano de2010. A partir desse marco, computadas as 565 mortes registradas, foi realizado o estudo do fluxo do sistema de justiça criminal em três cidades selecionadas: Luziânia, Cidade Ocidental e Águas Lindas de Goiás. Neste artigo, o foco são as dinâmicas entre as diferentes organizações do sistema de justiça criminal, bem como as representações sociais de seus distintos atores. 

Social Representations of Homicide Investigations by Judges, Prosecutors and Police: A Case Study from the Metropolitan Area of Brasilia

This article examines homicide in the Metropolitan Area of Brasilia (MAB), analysing social representations from elites in the criminal justice system, including police chiefs, prosecutors and judges. It draws on the theory of social representations (TSR) to explore the imaginaries constructed around the criminal justice system’s inability to adequately investigate the rise in homicides. The representations from focus group participants highlight a lack of resources, infrastructure, equipment and human resources, as well as unsatisfactory working conditions. In seeking to understand and situate themselves in new realities and contexts, these elite criminal justice actors ultimately place themselves within the available reserve of knowledge, in which they claim that ‘nothing works’. Hence, this enables these powerful actors to justify themselves and blame others, while denying their inability to adequately investigate homicides. A hidden rationale emerges that represents the homicide victims of drug crimes and gang feuds as unworthy of investigation

UMA QUESTÃO DELICADA: A QUALIDADE DOS LIVROS LITERÁRIOS INFANTIS SOB O OLHAR DAS CRIANÇAS

Este artigo é resultado de uma pesquisa de Doutorado que teve como foco analisar elementos destacados por crianças do 1º Ciclo em livros considerados Altamente Recomendáveis para crianças pela Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil (FNLIJ). Como metodologia de pesquisa, desenvolvemos conversações literárias com 25 crianças, divididas em grupos formados por 4 ou 5 leitores, tendo como referência a dinâmica do Círculo de Leitura (DANIELS & STEINEKE, 2004; COSSON, 2014) e o enfoque Dime (CHAMBERS, 2007), que estimulam o leitor a falar de suas leituras e a compartilhar as suas ideias com o outro. O objetivo era observar o que as crianças diziam sobre os livros, que questões formulavam e por que escolhiam determinadas obras para a pesquisadora realizar uma leitura compartilhada. As interações realizadas foram filmadas e gravadas em áudio. Este texto convida a uma reflexão sobre a polêmica e complexa questão da qualidade de uma obra literária

Risk Perception of Food Safety by School Food-handlers

An exploratory descriptive study was conducted with a qualitative approach that used focus groups. The objective of this study was to identify the risk perception of food safety by school food-handlers. The results indicated that the food production process has certain inadequacies, including the weak risk perception by the food-handlers regarding the student\u2019s health. The students, the pedagogical team, and the principal contribute to this behaviour, which can affect the quality of the final product\u2014the served meal. The social devaluation of the food-handlers is also discussed. It is necessary to improve the food-handlers\u2019 training sessions, with the purpose of modifying risk perception and to allow the school community to be involved in healthy and safe feeding practices

Efeito hepatoprotetor do caruru (amaranthus viridis) no desenvolvimento da cirrose hepática alcoólica experimental induzida por tioacetamida / Hepatoprotective effect of caruru (amaranthus viridis) on the development of experimental hepatic cirrhosis induced by thioacetamide

O estresse oxidativo é o principal mediador da cirrose alcoólica, tornando-se relevante o estudo sobre a suplementação de alimentos com propriedades antioxidantes, como o Caruru. Deste modo, o objetivo foi avaliar o efeito hepatoprotetor do Caruru no desenvolvimento da cirrose hepática alcoólica experimental.  Foram avaliados 40 ratos machos Wistar divididos em 4 grupos: CO (controle); CC (controle + ração padrão acrescida de Caruru 300mg/kg); HE (hepatotóxico); HC (hepatotóxico + ração padrão acrescida de Caruru 300mg/kg). Os hepatotóxicos receberam a tioacetamida 3 vezes por semana, durante 8 semanas à 200mg/kg. O grupo HE apresentou menor peso corporal, consumo de ração e aproveitamento nutricional comparado aos grupos CO e CC. O grupo HC apresentou maior consumo de ração e aproveitamento nutricional comparado aos demais grupos. Nas dosagens de ALT, os grupos HE e HC apresentaram maiores valores comparados com CO e CC. Em relação a AST, apenas o grupo HE apresentou valores superiores comparado ao CO. Em relação à análise histológica, os grupos HE e HC apresentaram alterações estruturais comparados com os CO e CC, porém, o HC apresentou menores alterações comparado ao HE. Em conclusão, o Caruru apresenta efeito hepatoprotetor no desenvolvimento da cirrose hepática experimental. 

Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements
