    Revisiting the Bs()B^{(*)}_s-Meson Production at the Hadronic Colliders

    The production of heavy-flavored hadron at the hadronic colliders provides a challenging opportunity to test the validity of pQCD predictions. There are two mechanisms for the Bs()B^{(*)}_s hadroproduction, i.e. the gluon-gluon fusion mechanism via the subprocess g+gBs()+b+sˉg+g\rightarrow B^{(*)}_s+b+\bar{s} and the extrinsic heavy quark mechanism via the subprocesses g+bˉBs()+sˉg+\bar{b}\to B^{(*)}_s +\bar{s} and g+sBs()+bg+s\to B^{(*)}_s +b, both of which shall have sizable contributions in proper kinematic region. Different from the fixed-flavor-number scheme (FFNS) previously adopted in the literature, we study the Bs()B^{(*)}_s hadroproduction under the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme (GM-VFNS), in which we can consistently deal with the double counting problem from the above two mechanisms. Properties for the Bs()B^{(*)}_s hadroproduction are discussed. To be useful reference, a comparative study of FFNS and GM-VFNS is presented. Both of which can provide reasonable estimations for the Bs()B^{(*)}_s hadroproduction. At the Tevatron, the difference between these two schemes is small, however such difference is obvious at the LHC. The forthcoming more precise data on LHC shall provide a good chance to check which scheme is more appropriate to deal with the Bs()B^{(*)}_s-meson production and to further study the heavy quark components in hadrons.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures, 4 tables.     Low-temperature SCR of NO with NH 3 over noble metal promoted Fe-ZSM-5 catalysts

    We have reported previously the excellent performance of Fe-exchanged ZSM-5 for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with ammonia at high temperatures (300–400 °C). In this work, we found that the reaction temperature could be decreased to 200–300 °C when a small amount of noble metal (Pt, Rh, or Pd) was added to the Fe-ZSM-5. The SCR activity follows the order Pt/Fe-ZSM-5 > Rh/Fe-ZSM-5 > Pd/Fe-ZSM-5 at 250 °C. On the Pt promoted Fe-ZSM-5, 90% NO conversion was obtained at 250 °C at GHSV  = 1.1 ×  10 5  h −1 . Moreover, the noble metal improved the resistance to H 2 O and SO 2 .     Large expert-curated database for benchmarking document similarity detection in biomedical literature search

    Document recommendation systems for locating relevant literature have mostly relied on methods developed a decade ago. This is largely due to the lack of a large offline gold-standard benchmark of relevant documents that cover a variety of research fields such that newly developed literature search techniques can be compared, improved and translated into practice. To overcome this bottleneck, we have established the RElevant LIterature SearcH consortium consisting of more than 1500 scientists from 84 countries, who have collectively annotated the relevance of over 180 000 PubMed-listed articles with regard to their respective seed (input) article/s. The majority of annotations were contributed by highly experienced, original authors of the seed articles. The collected data cover 76% of all unique PubMed Medical Subject Headings descriptors. No systematic biases were observed across different experience levels, research fields or time spent on annotations. More importantly, annotations of the same document pairs contributed by different scientists were highly concordant. We further show that the three representative baseline methods used to generate recommended articles for evaluation (Okapi Best Matching 25, Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency and PubMed Related Articles) had similar overall performances. Additionally, we found that these methods each tend to produce distinct collections of recommended articles, suggesting that a hybrid method may be required to completely capture all relevant articles. The established database server located at https://relishdb.ict.griffith.edu.au is freely available for the downloading of annotation data and the blind testing of new methods. We expect that this benchmark will be useful for stimulating the development of new powerful techniques for title and title/abstract-based search engines for relevant articles in biomedical research.Peer reviewe

    The aim of this study is to obtain optimal decolourization conditions for Acid blue-7 (AB7) wastewater treatment by Ti/TiO2 photoelectrocatalysis using response surface methodology (RSM). On the basis of a three-variable Box-Behnken design (BBD), RSM was used to determine the effect of pH values (ranged from 3.2 to 6), light intensity (ranged from 10 to 20 ×102μW/cm2) and bias potential (ranged from 0.1 to 1.1V) on the levels of response, i.e. decolourization efficiency. By applying the quadratic regression analysis, the equations describing the behaviors of the response as simultaneous functions of the selected independent variables were developed. Accordingly, the optimal conditions were determined as pH of 3.41, light intensity of 16.02×102μW/cm2 and bias potential of 0.68V. Decolourization efficiency of 90.13%, obtained experimentally under such optimal conditions was highly agreed with that of 90.44%, estimated by the equations.Other funderNatural Science Funding of Jiangsu Provinc
