    Study on the necessary survey days for energy intake in school children assessed by 7 day survey

    Theoretically, the longer the period of a nutrition survey, the more reliable the results. However, a long survey can impose a burden on subjects and cause the results to become inaccurate. For adults, a 3 non-consecutive day survey is usually recommended ; however, for school children, at least in Japan, it has not been determined whether this is necessary. In this study we conducted a survey of 7 days and tried to find the minimum number of days necessary to determine the energy intake. The subjects were about 300 children aged from 6 to 7, 10 to 11 and 13 to 14 years old in a city in the western part of Japan. The weighing method was used for the school lunch and other meals were surveyed by 24-recalling method. For the 6-7 year-old school children, guardians were asked to keep dietary records. The final number of subjects who were able to complete the 7-day survey was 139. Energy intakes for each weekday were not statistically different (p>0.05) and those for each weekend did not differ (p>0.05). Average energy intakes on weekdays were higher than those on weekend days in 10-11 and 13-14 year-old children. The average intakes of energy in 10-11 and 13-14 year-old children were lower than Japanese estimated energy requirements (EER). However, body weight of more than 90% of subjects was within the normal range. The results suggest that a survey of one weekday is reliable for all weekdays and that of one week-end day is reliable for any weekend day and also indicate the necessity of further studies of EER in rapidly growing children

    The ASTRO-H X-ray Observatory

    The joint JAXA/NASA ASTRO-H mission is the sixth in a series of highly successful X-ray missions initiated by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS). ASTRO-H will investigate the physics of the high-energy universe via a suite of four instruments, covering a very wide energy range, from 0.3 keV to 600 keV. These instruments include a high-resolution, high-throughput spectrometer sensitive over 0.3-2 keV with high spectral resolution of Delta E < 7 eV, enabled by a micro-calorimeter array located in the focal plane of thin-foil X-ray optics; hard X-ray imaging spectrometers covering 5-80 keV, located in the focal plane of multilayer-coated, focusing hard X-ray mirrors; a wide-field imaging spectrometer sensitive over 0.4-12 keV, with an X-ray CCD camera in the focal plane of a soft X-ray telescope; and a non-focusing Compton-camera type soft gamma-ray detector, sensitive in the 40-600 keV band.     Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of WW bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    This paper presents measurements of the W+μ+νW^+ \rightarrow \mu^+\nu and WμνW^- \rightarrow \mu^-\nu cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the 1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between them.Comment: 38 pages in total, author list starting page 22, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to EPJC.     Search for new phenomena in final states with an energetic jet and large missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at √ s = 8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    Results of a search for new phenomena in final states with an energetic jet and large missing transverse momentum are reported. The search uses 20.3 fb−1 of √ s = 8 TeV data collected in 2012 with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Events are required to have at least one jet with pT > 120 GeV and no leptons. Nine signal regions are considered with increasing missing transverse momentum requirements between Emiss T > 150 GeV and Emiss T > 700 GeV. Good agreement is observed between the number of events in data and Standard Model expectations. The results are translated into exclusion limits on models with either large extra spatial dimensions, pair production of weakly interacting dark matter candidates, or production of very light gravitinos in a gauge-mediated supersymmetric model.     Search for chargino-neutralino production with mass splittings near the electroweak scale in three-lepton final states in √s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for supersymmetry through the pair production of electroweakinos with mass splittings near the electroweak scale and decaying via on-shell W and Z bosons is presented for a three-lepton final state. The analyzed proton-proton collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of √s=13  TeV were collected between 2015 and 2018 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139  fb−1. A search, emulating the recursive jigsaw reconstruction technique with easily reproducible laboratory-frame variables, is performed. The two excesses observed in the 2015–2016 data recursive jigsaw analysis in the low-mass three-lepton phase space are reproduced. Results with the full data set are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations. They are interpreted to set exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level on simplified models of chargino-neutralino pair production for masses up to 345 GeV

    A 68-year-old woman with VT storm and frequent appropriate ICD therapy was referred for catheter ablation. Her past history was notable for aortic valve replacement by mechanical valve due to infectious endocarditis 17 years prior to presentation and left ventricular apical old myocardial infarction with unknown onset. At 67 years old, She admitted to the prior hospital due to ventricular tachycardia with LBBB and superior axis at heart rate of 210 per minutes. Administration of amiodarone and magnesium sulfate was ineffective and cardioversion of 200J was successfully terminated the tachycardia. Intra-cardiac defibrillator was implanted and the administration of amiodarone and mexiletine was started. 5 months after, she admitted to the hospital due to the frequent appropriate shock against the same ventricular tachycardia. Administration of lidocaine, sotalol, pilsicainide, and magnesium sulfate could not control the tachycardia and she was referred to our hospital for catheter ablation. During the first session, ventricular tachycardia was easily induced and electroanatomical mapping was performed both during tachycardia and during sinus rhythm. Late diastolic potential preceding the onset of QRS wave by 45ms was detected at the infero-septal side of the apical aneurysm. 7.5s of the RF energy application at this site could terminate the tachycardia and thereafter no ventricular tachycardia was induced. But after dose-reduction or cessation of some anti-arrhythmic drugs, ventricular tachycardia was recurred and second session was performed. This time, no ventricular tachycardia was induced, then we performed isthmus transection and core isolation against the apical aneurysm. Thereafter no ventricular tachycardia was occurred in spite of dose-reduction or cessation of some anti-arrhythmic drugs

    The MOBI-Kids Study Protocol: Challenges in Assessing Childhood and Adolescent Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields from Wireless Telecommunication Technologies and Possible Association with Brain Tumor Risk

    The rapid increase in mobile phone use in young people has generated concern about possible health effects of exposure to radiofrequency (RF) and extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields (EMF). MOBI-Kids, a multinational case-control study, investigates the potential effects of childhood and adolescent exposure to EMF from mobile communications technologies on brain tumor risk in 14 countries. The study, which aims to include approximately 1,000 brain tumor cases aged 10-24 years and two individually matched controls for each case, follows a common protocol and builds upon the methodological experience of the INTERPHONE study. The design and conduct of a study on EMF exposure and brain tumor risk in young people in a large number of countries is complex and poses methodological challenges. This manuscript discusses the design of MOBI-Kids and describes the challenges and approaches chosen to address them, including: (1) the choice of controls operated for suspected appendicitis, to reduce potential selection bias related to low response rates among population controls; (2) investigating a young study population spanning a relatively wide age range; (3) conducting a large, multinational epidemiological study, while adhering to increasingly stricter ethics requirements; (4) investigating a rare and potentially fatal disease; and (5) assessing exposure to EMF from communication technologies. Our experience in thus far developing and implementing the study protocol indicates that MOBI-Kids is feasible and will generate results that will contribute to the understanding of potential brain tumor risks associated with use of mobile phones and other wireless communications technologies among young people

    2013年以降、乳がん全摘後に保険適応となった人工ゲル充填乳房を用いた乳房再建術のまれな合併症として、T細胞型非ホジキンリンパ腫が報告され、同タイプの人工ゲル充填乳房は使用できなくなった。これを受けて、当院では自家組織を用いた乳房再建の症例が増加している。ボリュームのある乳房の場合、腹部を用いた有茎腹直筋皮弁、遊離皮弁が選択されることが多い。有茎皮弁では上腹壁動静脈を血管茎とするが、腹直筋の血行は深下腹壁動静脈優位のため血行が不十分と考えられる硬結が術後に生じることがある。これを改善するため、当科では可能な限り深下腹壁動静脈を胸部のレシピエント血管に吻合してsuperchargeを行い、血行の増強に努めている。遊離皮弁と異なり、皮弁の自由度が制限されるため血管吻合がやや困難であるが、術後は柔らかい乳房が再現されることが期待できる。With the onset of insurance coverage in 2013, implant-based techniques had been popular for breast reconstruction in Japan until fairly recently. However, possible complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma caused by implant materials led a recall of textured-typed implants for breast reconstruction. Such situation led patients head for breast reconstruction using autologous tissue. In case of well-developed breasts, either rectus abdominal musculocutaneous flap or deep inferior epigastric perforator flap is frequently selected for breast reconstruction. The former flap is well-vascularized but rectus abdominal muscle is used to transpose the flap, which could cause the herniation of the abdominal wall as a complication at late-stage. In the latter flap, since abdominal fat tissue is used, reconstructed breasts are similar to original breasts, while operation periods are relatively long in order to anastomose vessels under microscopy. Besides, thrombosis in anastomosed vessels could cause the total necrosis of reconstructed breasts.To overcome the disadvantages of the both methods, rectus abdominal musculocutaneous flaps anastomosed with vessels in the recipient region (i.e., Supercharged flap) have been developed.
