The article demonstrates the basic outlines of Roman rule in the new province of Asia, with a focus on the limits placed on these. These limits were dictated by the domestic problems of the Republic, which made the quality of the Roman provincial regime recede compared with that of the Attalid kingship. The example of the cities is used to compare this situation under Roman rule with that of the Attalids. It was the cities, particularly, which benefited from Attalid rule. Roman rule was only gradually established, and the cities’ advantageous situation could not be maintained, especially not during the Roman civil wars. This situation, which at times was precarious, led to discontent or to a stressed reference to old privileges – although the pacifying effect of the victory achieved by Octavian/Augustus was mostly also honestly welcomed

A thorough understanding of the timing behavior of embedded systems software has become very important. With the advent of ever more complex embedded software e.g. in autonomous driving, the size of this software is growing at a fast pace. Execution time profiles (ETP) have proven to be a useful way to understand the timing behavior of embedded software. Collecting these ETPs was either limited to small applications or required multiple runs of the same software for calibration processes. In this contribution, we present a novel method for collecting ETPs in a single shot of the software at very high quality even for large applications

In the article, the reconstruction of a Roman lusoria named “Danuvina Alacris” is first embedded in the field of ancient navigation and shipbuilding in general, then in ever narrower circles in Roman navigation, inland navigation, navigation on the Rhine and especially on the Danube. Then the basics of reconstruction, the reconstruction plans based on them, the construction schedule and the place of construction are described. In the second part, the progress of the construction according to Roman craft methods is discussed as well as the parallel actions developed within the frame of the Living History Principle. The progress of the construction is demonstrated until the submission of the manuscript, that is, 24 January 2021. Jelen összefoglaló a rekonstruált hajó építésének előrehaladását a tanulmány leadásáig, vagyis 2021. január 24-ig követi.

Continuous Non-Intrusive Hybrid WCET Estimation Using Waypoint Graphs

Traditionally, the Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET) of Embedded Software has been estimated using analytical approaches. This is effective, if good models of the processor/System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture exist. Unfortunately, modern high performance SoCs often contain unpredictable and/or undocumented components that influence the timing behaviour. Thus, analytical results for such processors are unrealistically pessimistic. One possible alternative approach seems to be hybrid WCET analysis, where measurement data together with an analytical approach is used to estimate worst-case behaviour. Previously, we demonstrated how continuous evaluation of basic block trace data can be used to produce detailed statistics of basic blocks in embedded software. In the meantime it has become clear that the trace data provided by modern SoCs delivers a different type of information. In this contribution, we show that even under realistic conditions, a meaningful analysis can be conducted with the trace data

Peer Reviewe

Optimasi Portofolio Resiko Menggunakan Model Markowitz MVO Dikaitkan dengan Keterbatasan Manusia dalam Memprediksi Masa Depan dalam Perspektif Al-Qur`an

Risk portfolio on modern finance has become increasingly technical, requiring the use of sophisticated mathematical tools in both research and practice. Since companies cannot insure themselves completely against risk, as human incompetence in predicting the future precisely that written in Al-Quran surah Luqman verse 34, they have to manage it to yield an optimal portfolio. The objective here is to minimize the variance among all portfolios, or alternatively, to maximize expected return among all portfolios that has at least a certain expected return. Furthermore, this study focuses on optimizing risk portfolio so called Markowitz MVO (Mean-Variance Optimization). Some theoretical frameworks for analysis are arithmetic mean, geometric mean, variance, covariance, linear programming, and quadratic programming. Moreover, finding a minimum variance portfolio produces a convex quadratic programming, that is minimizing the objective function ðð¥with constraintsð ð 𥠥 ðandð´ð¥ = ð. The outcome of this research is the solution of optimal risk portofolio in some investments that could be finished smoothly using MATLAB R2007b software together with its graphic analysis

Search for heavy resonances decaying to two Higgs bosons in final states containing four b quarks

    Get PDF
A search is presented for narrow heavy resonances X decaying into pairs of Higgs bosons (H) in proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC at root s = 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb(-1). The search considers HH resonances with masses between 1 and 3 TeV, having final states of two b quark pairs. Each Higgs boson is produced with large momentum, and the hadronization products of the pair of b quarks can usually be reconstructed as single large jets. The background from multijet and t (t) over bar events is significantly reduced by applying requirements related to the flavor of the jet, its mass, and its substructure. The signal would be identified as a peak on top of the dijet invariant mass spectrum of the remaining background events. No evidence is observed for such a signal. Upper limits obtained at 95 confidence level for the product of the production cross section and branching fraction sigma(gg -> X) B(X -> HH -> b (b) over barb (b) over bar) range from 10 to 1.5 fb for the mass of X from 1.15 to 2.0 TeV, significantly extending previous searches. For a warped extra dimension theory with amass scale Lambda(R) = 1 TeV, the data exclude radion scalar masses between 1.15 and 1.55 TeV

Copyright: Copyright 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved. Background: Concerns exist regarding the prevalence and impact of unnecessary oxygen use in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). We examined this issue in patients with ARDS enrolled in the Large observational study to UNderstand the Global impact of Severe Acute respiratory FailurE (LUNG SAFE) study. Methods: In this secondary analysis of the LUNG SAFE study, we wished to determine the prevalence and the outcomes associated with hyperoxemia on day 1, sustained hyperoxemia, and excessive oxygen use in patients with early ARDS. Patients who fulfilled criteria of ARDS on day 1 and day 2 of acute hypoxemic respiratory failure were categorized based on the presence of hyperoxemia (PaO2 > 100 mmHg) on day 1, sustained (i.e., present on day 1 and day 2) hyperoxemia, or excessive oxygen use (FIO2 ≥ 0.60 during hyperoxemia). Results: Of 2005 patients that met the inclusion criteria, 131 (6.5%) were hypoxemic (PaO2 < 55 mmHg), 607 (30%) had hyperoxemia on day 1, and 250 (12%) had sustained hyperoxemia. Excess FIO2 use occurred in 400 (66%) out of 607 patients with hyperoxemia. Excess FIO2 use decreased from day 1 to day 2 of ARDS, with most hyperoxemic patients on day 2 receiving relatively low FIO2. Multivariate analyses found no independent relationship between day 1 hyperoxemia, sustained hyperoxemia, or excess FIO2 use and adverse clinical outcomes. Mortality was 42% in patients with excess FIO2 use, compared to 39% in a propensity-matched sample of normoxemic (PaO2 55-100 mmHg) patients (P = 0.47). Conclusions: Hyperoxemia and excess oxygen use are both prevalent in early ARDS but are most often non-sustained. No relationship was found between hyperoxemia or excessive oxygen use and patient outcome in this cohort. Trial registration: LUNG-SAFE is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT02010073publishersversionPeer reviewe
