    The action for the (propagating) torsion and the limits on the torsion parameters from present experimental data

    Starting from the well established form of the Dirac action coupled to the electromagnetic and torsion field we find that there is some additional softly broken local symmetry associated with torsion. This symmetry fixes the form of divergences of the effective action after the spinor fields are integrated out. Then the requirement of renormalizability fixes the torsion field to be equivalent to some massive pseudovector and its action is fixed with accuracy to the values of coupling constant of torsion-spinor interaction, mass of the torsion and higher derivative terms. Implementing this action into the abelian sector of the Standard Model we establish the upper bounds on the torsion mass and coupling. In our study we used results of present experimental limits on four-fermion contact interaction (LEP, HERA, SLAC, SLD, CCFR) and TEVATRON limits on the cross section of new gauge boson, which could be produced as a resonance at high energy ppˉp\bar{p} collisions.Comment: 12 pages, LaTeX, 5 figures include

    An analysis of methods for assessing information security risks of financial institutions

    The paper presents an analysis of the existing methods for assessing information security risks, their features, advantages and disadvantages, as well as determines the possibility of using such techniques for assessing information security risks in financial institutions. Criteria for comparing information security risk assessment methods have been formed, the advantages and disadvantages of the methods are described. It is shown that, despite the requirements of regulators for assessing information security risks, most of the regulatory documents deal with operational risks. The evaluation of information security risks of credit and financial institutions does not have sufficient regulation and formalization. The authors substantiate the necessity of developing a method for assessing information security risks for credit and financial organizations, taking into account the features of risk assessment inherent to the mentioned organizations. The paper considers the need to create lists of existing threats to the credit and financial sector and their linking to existing vulnerabilities to optimize the process of assessing information security risks. The development of a methodology for assessing information security risks will increase the degree of compliance of credit and financial institutions with the requirements of international, state and industry standards through an optimal set of protection measures and models for evaluating information security risks

    Sensitivity to Antimicrobial Drugs of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Extreme-Resistant Strains Isolated in the Major Hospitals of Central Kazakhstan

    AIM: The article presents the current data on the sensitivity of the main 37 strains of eXtremaly Drugs Resistance (XDR) category to anti-pseudomonas drugs.MATERIAL AND METHODS: The strains were collected during the prospective multicenter study in large multidisciplinary hospitals of Central Kazakhstan. Susceptibility to antimicrobial drugs was carried out by disk method and the serial dilution method with the interpretation of the results according to EUCAST criteria. Detection of carbapenemases gene of VIM, IMP, NDM and GES classes was carried out by PCR method using the commercial kits.RESULTS: All identified carbapenemases were sorted to VIM class and accounted for 63.64%. Resistance to aminoglycoside drugs exceeded 80%. All the strains were susceptible to polymyxin.CONCLUSION: Thus, at the present stage the circulation of P. aeruginosa strains of XDR category continues in major hospitals in Kazakhstan. The strains remain sensitiveness only to polymyxin

    Analysis of the diagnostic and economic impact of the combined artificial intelligence algorithm for analysis of 10 pathological findings on chest computed tomography

    BACKGROUND: Artificial intelligence technology can help solve the significant problem of missed findings in radiology studies. An important issue is assessing the economic benefits of implementing artificial intelligence. AIM: To evaluate the frequency of missed pathologies detection and the economic potential of artificial intelligence technology for chest computed tomography compared and validated by experienced radiologists. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was an observational, single-center retrospective study. The study included chest computed tomography without IV contrast from June 1 to July 31, 2022, in Clinical Hospital in Yauza, Moscow. The computed tomography was processed using a complex artificial intelligence algorithm for 10 pathologies: pulmonary infiltrates, typical for viral pneumonia (COVID-19 in pandemic conditions); lung nodules; pleural effusion; pulmonary emphysema; thoracic aortic dilatation; pulmonary trunk dilatation; coronary artery calcification; adrenal hyperplasia; and osteoporosis (vertebral body height and density changes). Two experts analyzed computed tomography and compared results with artificial intelligence. Further routing was determined according to clinical guidelines for all findings initially detected and missed by radiologists. The hospital price list determined the potential revenue loss for each patient. RESULTS: From the final 160 computed tomographies, the artificial intelligence identified 90 studies (56%) with pathologies, of which 81 (51%) were missing at least one pathology in the report. The second-stage lost potential revenue for all pathologies from 81 patients was RUB 2,847,760 (37,251orCNY256,218).LostpotentialrevenueonlyforthosepathologiesmissedbyradiologistsbutdetectedbyartificialintelligencewasRUB2,065,360(37,251 or CNY 256,218). Lost potential revenue only for those pathologies missed by radiologists but detected by artificial intelligence was RUB 2,065,360 (27,017 or CNY 185,824). CONCLUSION: Using artificial intelligence as an assistant to the radiologist for chest computed tomography can dramatically minimize the number of missed abnormalities. Compared with the normal model without artificial intelligence, using artificial intelligence can provide 3.6 times more benefits.     Combinations of single-top-quark production cross-section measurements and vertical bar f(LV)V(tb)vertical bar determinations at root s=7 and 8 TeV with the ATLAS and CMS experiments

    This paper presents the combinations of single-top-quark production cross-section measurements by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations, using data from LHC proton-proton collisions at = 7 and 8 TeV corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1.17 to 5.1 fb(-1) at = 7 TeV and 12.2 to 20.3 fb(-1) at = 8 TeV. These combinations are performed per centre-of-mass energy and for each production mode: t-channel, tW, and s-channel. The combined t-channel cross-sections are 67.5 +/- 5.7 pb and 87.7 +/- 5.8 pb at = 7 and 8 TeV respectively. The combined tW cross-sections are 16.3 +/- 4.1 pb and 23.1 +/- 3.6 pb at = 7 and 8 TeV respectively. For the s-channel cross-section, the combination yields 4.9 +/- 1.4 pb at = 8 TeV. The square of the magnitude of the CKM matrix element V-tb multiplied by a form factor f(LV) is determined for each production mode and centre-of-mass energy, using the ratio of the measured cross-section to its theoretical prediction. It is assumed that the top-quark-related CKM matrix elements obey the relation |V-td|, |V-ts| << |V-tb|. All the |f(LV)V(tb)|(2) determinations, extracted from individual ratios at = 7 and 8 TeV, are combined, resulting in |f(LV)V(tb)| = 1.02 +/- 0.04 (meas.) +/- 0.02 (theo.).     Comprehensive and Integrated Genomic Characterization of Adult Soft Tissue Sarcomas

    Sarcomas are a broad family of mesenchymal malignancies exhibiting remarkable histologic diversity. We describe the multi-platform molecular landscape of 206 adult soft tissue sarcomas representing 6 major types. Along with novel insights into the biology of individual sarcoma types, we report three overarching findings: (1) unlike most epithelial malignancies, these sarcomas (excepting synovial sarcoma) are characterized predominantly by copy-number changes, with low mutational loads and only a few genes (, , ) highly recurrently mutated across sarcoma types; (2) within sarcoma types, genomic and regulomic diversity of driver pathways defines molecular subtypes associated with patient outcome; and (3) the immune microenvironment, inferred from DNA methylation and mRNA profiles, associates with outcome and may inform clinical trials of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Overall, this large-scale analysis reveals previously unappreciated sarcoma-type-specific changes in copy number, methylation, RNA, and protein, providing insights into refining sarcoma therapy and relationships to other cancer types

    Search for stop and higgsino production using diphoton Higgs boson decays

    Results are presented of a search for a "natural" supersymmetry scenario with gauge mediated symmetry breaking. It is assumed that only the supersymmetric partners of the top-quark (stop) and the Higgs boson (higgsino) are accessible. Events are examined in which there are two photons forming a Higgs boson candidate, and at least two b-quark jets. In 19.7 inverse femtobarns of proton-proton collision data at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV, recorded in the CMS experiment, no evidence of a signal is found and lower limits at the 95% confidence level are set, excluding the stop mass below 360 to 410 GeV, depending on the higgsino mass

    Juxtaposing BTE and ATE – on the role of the European insurance industry in funding civil litigation

    One of the ways in which legal services are financed, and indeed shaped, is through private insurance arrangement. Two contrasting types of legal expenses insurance contracts (LEI) seem to dominate in Europe: before the event (BTE) and after the event (ATE) legal expenses insurance. Notwithstanding institutional differences between different legal systems, BTE and ATE insurance arrangements may be instrumental if government policy is geared towards strengthening a market-oriented system of financing access to justice for individuals and business. At the same time, emphasizing the role of a private industry as a keeper of the gates to justice raises issues of accountability and transparency, not readily reconcilable with demands of competition. Moreover, multiple actors (clients, lawyers, courts, insurers) are involved, causing behavioural dynamics which are not easily predicted or influenced. Against this background, this paper looks into BTE and ATE arrangements by analysing the particularities of BTE and ATE arrangements currently available in some European jurisdictions and by painting a picture of their respective markets and legal contexts. This allows for some reflection on the performance of BTE and ATE providers as both financiers and keepers. Two issues emerge from the analysis that are worthy of some further reflection. Firstly, there is the problematic long-term sustainability of some ATE products. Secondly, the challenges faced by policymakers that would like to nudge consumers into voluntarily taking out BTE LEI
