(DES)INFORMACIÓN EN LAS CÁMARAS DE ECO DE TWITTER: disputas sobre la cloroquina en la pandemia de Covid-19

Diante do grande fluxo de informações que circulam pelo Twitter a respeito da pandemia da Covid-19, o presente artigo analisa a polarização do debate em torno da eficácia do uso da cloroquina e hidroxicloroquina no tratamento da doença, a partir de sistemas de referências distintos, além de identificar os indícios de desinformação presentes nos links que mais circularam entre 23 de março e 13 de abril, a partir de uma base de 21.076 tweets. A análise constata a formação de câmaras de eco, numa clara oposição entre o uso de veículos tradicionais de comunicação e sites de teor explicitamente ideológico como fontes de referência para defender um medicamento sem eficácia científica comprovada.In view of the large flow of information circulating on Twitter regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, this paper analyzes the polarization of the debate around the effectiveness of the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of the disease, based on different reference systems, in addition to identifying the signs of disinformation present in the links that most circulated between March 23 and April 13, based on a base of 21,076 tweets. The analysis finds the formation of echo chambers, in a clear opposition between the use of traditional communication vehicles and sites of explicitly ideological content as sources of reference to defend a drug without proven scientific efficacy.En vista del gran flujo de información que circula en Twitter sobre la pandemia de Covid-19, este artículo analiza la polarización del debate sobre la efectividad del uso de cloroquina e hidroxicloroquina en el tratamiento de la enfermedad, basado en diferentes sistemas de referencia, además de identificar los signos de desinformación presentes en los links que más circularon entre el 23 de marzo y el 13 de abril, en base a una base de 21.076 tweets. Craniofacial Fibrous Dysplasia Addressed Through the Intraoral and Nasal Access

Background: The Craniofacial Fibrous Dysplasia is a benign disease, pseudoneoplasic, rare and asymptomatic of slow growth promoting replacement of bone tissue by an amorphous connective tissue, promoting bone deformation that can invade and cause compression of important structures such as the skull base and facial orbital bone. This study aims to present a clinical case of a Craniofacial Fibrous Dysplasia, emphasizing an alternative of an aesthetic surgical access by an intraoral approach. Case Report: We report the clinical case of patient IMS, 21 years of age with craniofacial fibrous dysplasia presenting deformity of the left facial middle third in orbital, nasal and maxilla region who was submitted to surgery for facial recontouring. The surgical access was intraoral associated with access for rhinoplasty. A lesion scrape was realized for facial recontouring and nasal osteotomy for correction of deviation caused by the injury. Conclusions: It was concluded that the surgical technique associated with the intraoral access with nasal extension is an important tool in addressing these lesions, allowing a large surgical field and satisfactory aesthetic and functional results without facial scars

Avaliação da condição de serventia de pavimentos urbanos utilizando novas metodologias / Evaluation of the serviceability condition of urban sidewalks using new methodologies

A avaliação das rodovias é de vital importância para a sociedade. Sobretudo no município de Açailandia pois ele está em uma localidade de grande relevância tanto regional, quanto estadual, pois situa-se no entroncamento de importantes rodovias federais, a BR-222 E A BR-010. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar a avaliação de rodovias do município em questão através de metodologias mais práticas, eficientes e modernas. As metodologias utilizadas foram duas, a primeira utilizando filmagens de uma câmera GoPro Hero 7 e softwares livres, e a segunda utilizando um medidor laser GLM 50 C Professional da Bosch juntamente com um MERLIN modificado. Diversos resultados foram obtidos com a execução deste trabalho, para o primeiro método foi inventariado os defeitos da Avenida Alexandre Costa e para o segundo foi aferida a variação de irregularidades nas trilhas de roda da Rua Bonaire. Conclui-se com este trabalho que a realização da avaliação de pavimentos pode ser feita de maneira mais prática e eficiente desde de que sejam utilizados os equipamentos e softwares capazes de realizar as aferições

Uso da nanotecnologia no combate ao Câncer de estômago: uma revisão integrativa: Use of nanotechnology to fight stomach Cancer: an integrative review

A nanotecnologia é a manipulação da matéria em escala quase atômica para produzir novas estruturas, materiais e dispositivos permitindo avanços científicos em diversos setores, como medicina, assim, os avanços da nanotecnologia elevaram o espectro do progresso de agentes eficientes para o tratamento de patologias de alto impacto, como o câncer gástrico. O objetivo desse trabalho foi demonstrar o potencial da nanotecnologia farmacêutica como ferramenta destinada ao combate de câncer de estômago. Para a execução da pesquisa, realizou-se uma busca nas seguintes bases de dados: Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO). A amostra final de artigos na revisão integrativa foi de 22 publicados nos últimos sete anos. A prediction rule to stratify mortality risk of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis

Tuberculosis imposes high human and economic tolls, including in Europe. This study was conducted to develop a severity assessment tool for stratifying mortality risk in pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) patients. A derivation cohort of 681 PTB cases was retrospectively reviewed to generate a model based on multiple logistic regression analysis of prognostic variables with 6-month mortality as the outcome measure. A clinical scoring system was developed and tested against a validation cohort of 103 patients. Five risk features were selected for the prediction model: hypoxemic respiratory failure (OR 4.7, 95% CI 2.8-7.9), age >= 50 years (OR 2.9, 95% CI 1.7-4.8), bilateral lung involvement (OR 2.5, 95% CI 1.44.4), >= 1 significant comorbidity-HIV infection, diabetes mellitus, liver failure or cirrhosis, congestive heart failure and chronic respiratory disease-(OR 2.3, 95% CI 1.3-3.8), and hemoglobin = 6) mortality risk. The mortality associated with each group was 2.9%, 22.9% and 53.9%, respectively. The model performed equally well in the validation cohort. We provide a new, easy-to-use clinical scoring system to identify PTB patients with high-mortality risk in settings with good healthcare access, helping clinicians to decide which patients are in need of closer medical care during treatment.This work was supported by Fundacao Amelia de Mello/Jose de Mello Saude and Sociedade Portuguesa de Pneumologia (SPP). A IMPORTÂNCIA DA IMPLEMENTAÇÃO DOS CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS NA UNIDADE DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA

To discuss the importance of implementing palliative care in the intensive care unit through the existing literature. Methods: This is a qualitative integrative literature review. The search for the works involved in the research was carried out in the following databases: SCIELO, LILACS, BDENF and MEDLINE, using the health sciences descriptors: "Hospice care", "Palliative care" and "Intensive care unit". The inclusion criteria were: published between 2013 and 2023, with free access to full texts, articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish and related to the theme. Exclusion criteria were: duplicate articles, incomplete articles, abstracts, reviews, debates, articles published in event proceedings and unavailable in full. Results: This care has some principles that guarantee its effectiveness when implemented in the ICU, such as promoting individual and continuous care for patients, involving family members in this process, respecting the autonomy of the patient, establishing an environment conducive to the necessary care, among others. Conclusion: The study in question concludes that the implementation of palliative care in the ICU, despite having numerous barriers, promotes a less painful dying process when applied correctly by health professionals, among these aspects, the participation of the family in this process is emphasized.Discutir por meio da literatura existente acerca da importância da implementação dos cuidados paliativos na unidade de terapia intensiva. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura de caráter qualitativo. A busca dos trabalhos envolvidos na pesquisa foi realizada nas seguintes bases de dados: SCIELO, LILACS, BDENF e MEDLINE, a partir dos descritores em ciências da saúde: “Assistência hospitalar”, “Cuidados paliativos” e “Unidade de terapia intensiva”. Os critérios de inclusão foram: publicados no período entre 2013 e 2023, cujo acesso ao periódico era livre aos textos completos, artigos em idioma português, inglês e espanhol e relacionados a temática. Critérios de exclusão foram: artigos duplicados, incompletos, resumos, resenhas, debates, artigos publicados em anais de eventos e indisponíveis na íntegra. Resultados: Esses cuidados possuem alguns princípios que garantem a sua efetividade na implementação na UTI como promover o cuidado individual e continuo aos pacientes, envolver os familiares nesse processo, respeitar a autonomia do enfermo, estabelecer um ambiente propício aos cuidados necessários dentre outros. Conclusão: O estudo em questão conclui que a implementação dos cuidados paliativos na UTI apesar de possui inúmeras barreiras ele promover um processo de morrer menos doloroso quando aplicado corretamente por meio dos profissionais de saúde, dentre esses aspectos enfatiza-se a participação da família nesse processo

Psychological Determinants of Consumer Acceptance of Personalised Nutrition in 9 European Countries

YesObjective: To develop a model of the psychological factors which predict people’s intention to adopt personalised nutrition. Potential determinants of adoption included perceived risk and benefit, perceived self-efficacy, internal locus of control and health commitment. Methods: A questionnaire, developed from exploratory study data and the existing theoretical literature, and including validated psychological scales was administered to N = 9381 participants from 9 European countries (Germany, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, the UK, and Norway). Results: Structural equation modelling indicated that the greater participants’ perceived benefits to be associated with personalised nutrition, the more positive their attitudes were towards personalised nutrition, and the greater their intention to adopt it. Higher levels of nutrition self-efficacy were related to more positive attitudes towards, and a greater expressed intention to adopt, personalised nutrition. Other constructs positively impacting attitudes towards personalised nutrition included more positive perceptions of the efficacy of regulatory control to protect consumers (e.g. in relation to personal data protection), higher self-reported internal health locus of control, and health commitment. Although higher perceived risk had a negative relationship with attitude and an inverse relationship with perceived benefit, its effects on attitude and intention to adopt personalised nutrition was less influential than perceived benefit. The model was stable across the different European countries, suggesting that psychological factors determining adoption of personalised nutrition have generic applicability across different European countries. Conclusion: The results suggest that transparent provision of information about potential benefits, and protection of consumers’ personal data is important for adoption, delivery of public health benefits, and commercialisation of personalised nutrition.This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement n u 265494 (http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/home_en.html). Margarita de Sossa, Sixteenth-Century Puebla de los Ángeles, New Spain (Mexico)

Margarita de Sossa’s freedom journey was defiant and entrepreneurial. In her early twenties, still enslaved in Portugal, she took possession of her body; after refusing to endure her owner’s sexual demands, he sold her, and she was transported to Mexico. There, she purchased her freedom with money earned as a healer and then conducted an enviable business as an innkeeper. Sossa’s biography provides striking insights into how she conceptualized freedom in terms that included – but was not limited to – legal manumission. Her transatlantic biography offers a rare insight into the life of a free black woman (and former slave) in late sixteenth-century Puebla, who sought to establish various degrees of freedom for herself. Whether she was refusing to acquiesce to an abusive owner, embracing entrepreneurship, marrying, purchasing her own slave property, or later using the courts to petition for divorce. Sossa continued to advocate on her own behalf. Her biography shows that obtaining legal manumission was not always equivalent to independence and autonomy, particularly if married to an abusive husband, or if financial successes inspired the envy of neighbors
