Airbus A320/321 Quick Change Market Analysis - A Case Study

    Get PDF
The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate and compare the Boeing B737 QC to the Airbus A320/321 QC aircraft, and to determine their relative market within a sample airline. The technical design of the two Airbus aircraft in a mixed QC operation were considered with respect to the requirements of a particular airline. Direct operating costs and payload range data for all three aircraft were calculated. To evaluate the competitiveness of the A320/321 QC under actual conditions, a linear programming fleet planning model was developed that considers more than the direct operating costs of a particular aircraft. The cost components included were direct operating costs, costs of insufficient capacity, additional costs of daytime operation, capital costs of the conversion, costs of positioning flights at low load factors, conversion station costs, costs of ferry flights, and costs of idle aircraft. The model was then applied to an actual network and potential new routes. The results are presented and analyzed. The outcome is considered the potential market for A320/321 QC aircraft within the hypothetical airline used in the study

Ontology Based Repository for Specifying Investment Advisory Services as a Knowledge Product

    Get PDF
This paper presents a repository for the product design of investment advice in wealth management using an ontology-based knowledge representation and service marketing methods; the repository is exemplified through a prototype implemented in Protégé. The aims of the repository are: (1) to support the specification of investment advisory services as knowledge products based on service modules, (2) to enable a solution-oriented product strategy serving behavioral customer segments and to facilitate external communications about service characteristics, (3) to foster a common ground for the internal communication between marketing experts and investment advisors, and for this purpose (4) to provide a visual representation of investment advisory services with service blueprints for a collaborative product specification. The specification of investment advice uses service modules, which combine investment process and advisory process for representing both the financial know-how and the interaction between customer and advisor. Consequently marketers can model and analyze the core features of investment advice. The repository supports the success factors for the service to be designed, being a differentiated product, the overall quality of the service, product fit, internal marketing and the use of technology. Recognizing investment advice as a knowledge product permits the transformation of advisory support systems into a shared knowledge base

Performance of the distributed central analysis in BaBar

    Get PDF
The total dataset produced by the BaBar experiment at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) currently comprises roughly3times1093times 10^9data events and an equal amount of simulated events, corresponding to 23 Tbytes of real data and 51 Tbytes simulated events. Since individual analyses typically select a very small fraction of all events, it would be extremely inefficient if each analysis had to process the full dataset. A first, centrally managed analysis step is therefore a common pre-selection (‘skimming’) of all data according to very loose, inclusive criteria to facilitate data access for later analysis. Usually, there are common selection criteria for several analysis. However, they may change over time, e.g., when new analyses are developed. Currently,$cal

In this paper recent results from the CDF and D0 experiments on heavy flavor spectroscopy are reported. Both experiments are using up to 1.1 fb^{-1} of data delivered by the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Batavia IL, USA.Comment: To appear in the conference proceedings for Beauty 200

Stimulation of estrogen receptor accumulation by estradiol in primary cultures of salmon hepatocytes

    Get PDF
AbstractHepatocytes of Salmo salar in primary culture form confluent monolayers and can be maintained at 11 °C in serum-free medium for 8 days with minimal cell loss. Cultured hepatocytes from immature male salmon contain estrogen receptor both in nuclear and cytosol fractions (2000 and 2400 sites/cell, respectively). A single addition of estradiol results in an increase in the nuclear receptor to a level of 23 000 sites/cell after 24 h. This nuclear receptor concentration is similar to that in liver of estrogen-treated salmon in vivo, and is much higher than has been found for any other egg-laying vertebrate. The cultured salmon hepatocytes thus represent a highly sensitive system for the study of estrogen receptor dynamics and vitellogenesis in vitro
