The low associability around Colegio de Periodistas, states serious doubts about the real democratic vigilance and influence into the public life of a weakened guild. In fact, the journalists’ associability is down compared to similar guilds, whit just a 2.9% to the total of graduates in the Eighth Region during last five years, similar quantity in the rest of the country. This reality implicates a responsibility from the Colegio de Periodistas, because the entity don’t know the journalists’ increasing leading into the organizational and corporative area – in fact, a 64% from the Eighth Region professionals work on these areas- showing an evident unconcern to charm and compromise to those non-linked at the traditional journalism. In summary, the journalists’ representatively crisis questions their social role, Colegio de Periodistas’ character and more over professional formation itself

Call me by my name: unravelling the taxonomy of the gulper shark genus Centrophorus in the Mediterranean Sea through an integrated taxonomic approach

    Get PDF
The current shift of fishery efforts towards the deep sea is raising concern about the vulnerability of deep-water sharks, which are often poorly studied and characterized by problematic taxonomy. For instance, in the Mediterranean Sea the taxonomy of genus Centrophorus has not been clearly unravelled yet. Since proper identification of the species is fundamental for their correct assessment and management, this study aims at clarifying the taxonomy of this genus in the Mediterranean Basin through an integrated taxonomic approach. We analysed a total of 281 gulper sharks (Centrophorus spp.) collected from various Mediterranean, Atlantic and Indian Ocean waters. Molecular data obtained from cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI), 16S ribosomal RNA (16S), NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 (ND2) and a portion of a nuclear 28S ribosomal DNA gene region (28S) have highlighted the presence of a unique mitochondrial clade in the Mediterranean Sea. The morphometric results confirmed these findings, supporting the presence of a unique and distinct morphological group comprising all Mediterranean individuals. The data strongly indicate the occurrence of a single Centrophorus species in the Mediterranean, ascribable to C. cf. uyato, and suggest the need for a revision of the systematics of the genus in the area

A multi-country test of brief reappraisal interventions on emotions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased negative emotions and decreased positive emotions globally. Left unchecked, these emotional changes might have a wide array of adverse impacts. To reduce negative emotions and increase positive emotions, we tested the effectiveness of reappraisal, an emotion-regulation strategy that modifies how one thinks about a situation. Participants from 87 countries and regions (n = 21,644) were randomly assigned to one of two brief reappraisal interventions (reconstrual or repurposing) or one of two control conditions (active or passive). Results revealed that both reappraisal interventions (vesus both control conditions) consistently reduced negative emotions and increased positive emotions across different measures. Reconstrual and repurposing interventions had similar effects. Importantly, planned exploratory analyses indicated that reappraisal interventions did not reduce intentions to practice preventive health behaviours. The findings demonstrate the viability of creating scalable, low-cost interventions for use around the world

Assessment of generic competences in pre-service physical education teachers: An experience in non-formal context

    No full text
The Physical Education field needs to know more in depth the formative processes that take place outside formal educational institutions. The aim of this paper is to describe the experience of a practicum in non-formal educational contexts, where students of Physical Education participate, in order to identify and assess the generic competences acquired during the process. The experience is developed in a subject associated to the Physical Education Bachelor of a Chilean university and aims to develop a practicum during five months in non-formal educational contexts, such as: (a) centers linked to formative and high perfomance sports; (b) centers linked to sports administration and management; (c) centers linked to physical activity and community health; (d) gyms and physical activity centers linked to fitness. 32 students and 18 centers represented by their respective managers participate in the experience. For data collection, two ad-hoc questionnaires are applied, one addressed to students, and the other to the representatives of the centers; both instruments aim to identify and assess the competences that students show during the process. The results show that according to the perception of the practicum centers, the most developed competences by the students during the process are: (a) respect for diversity; (b) adaptation to the context; (c) collaborative work. While according to the perception of the students are: (a) expansion of knowledge; (b) respect; (c) responsibility
