Measurement of D+- and D0 production in deep inelastic scattering using a lifetime tag at HERA
The production of D-+/-- and D-0-mesons has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 133.6 pb(-1). The measurements cover the kinematic range 5 < Q(2) < 1000 GeV2, 0.02 < y < 0.7, 1.5 < p(T)(D) < 15 GeV and |eta(D)| < 1.6. Combinatorial background to the D-meson signals is reduced by using the ZEUS microvertex detector to reconstruct displaced secondary vertices. Production cross sections are compared with the predictions of next-to-leading-order QCD, which is found to describe the data well. Measurements are extrapolated to the full kinematic phase space in order to obtain the open-charm contribution, F-2(c (c) over bar), to the proton structure function, F-2
Higher harmonic anisotropic flow measurements of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV
We report on the first measurement of the triangular , quadrangular
, and pentagonal charged particle flow in Pb-Pb collisions at 2.76
TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. We show
that the triangular flow can be described in terms of the initial spatial
anisotropy and its fluctuations, which provides strong constraints on its
origin. In the most central events, where the elliptic flow and
have similar magnitude, a double peaked structure in the two-particle azimuthal
correlations is observed, which is often interpreted as a Mach cone response to
fast partons. We show that this structure can be naturally explained from the
measured anisotropic flow Fourier coefficients.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, published version, figures at

Disentangling Income Inequality and the Redistributive Effect of Taxes and Transfers in 20 LIS Countries Over Time
Exclusive photoproduction of pi degrees up to large values of Mandelstam variables s, t, and u with CLAS
Exclusive photoproduction cross sections have been measured for the process
with the Dalitz decay final state
using tagged photon energies in the range of GeV.
The complete angular distribution of the final state , for the entire
photon energy range up to large values of and , has been measured for
the first time. The data obtained show that the cross section , at
mid to large angles, decreases with energy as . This is in
agreement with the perturbative QCD quark counting rule prediction of . Paradoxically, the size of angular distribution of measured cross sections
is greatly underestimated by the QCD based Generalized Parton Distribution
mechanism at highest available invariant energy GeV. At the same
time, the Regge exchange based models for photoproduction are more
consistent with experimental data.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure

High-E-T dijet photoproduction at HERA
The cross section for high-ET dijet production in photoproduction has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 81.8pb-1. The events were required to have a virtuality of the incoming photon, Q2, of less than 1GeV2 and a photon-proton center-of-mass energy in the range 14220GeV and ETjet2>15GeV and pseudorapidity (with respect to the proton beam direction) requirements of -1<ηjet1,2<3, with at least one of the jets satisfying -1<ηjet<2.5. The measurements show sensitivity to the parton distributions in the photon and proton and to effects beyond next-to-leading order in QCD. Hence these data can be used to constrain further the parton densities in the proton and photon. © 2007 The American Physical Society
Multi-lepton production at high transverse momentum at HERA
AbstractA search for events containing two or more high-transverse-momentum isolated leptons has been performed in ep collisions with the ZEUS detector at HERA using the full collected data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 480 pb−1. The number of observed events has been compared with the prediction from the Standard Model, searching for possible deviations, especially for multi-lepton events with invariant mass larger than 100 GeV. Good agreement with the Standard Model has been observed. Total and differential cross sections for di-lepton production have been measured in a restricted phase space dominated by photon–photon collisions
Measurement of beauty production from dimuon events at HERA
Beauty production in events containing two muons in the final state has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 114 pb−1. A low transverse-momentum threshold for muon identification, in combination with the large rapidity coverage of the ZEUS muon system, gives access to almost the full phase space for beauty production. The total cross section for beauty production in ep collisions at (s)1/2 = 318 GeV has been measured to be σtot(ep → bX) = 13.9 ± 1.5(stat.)+4.0−4.3(syst.) nb. Differential cross sections and a measurement of b correlations are also obtained, and compared to other beauty cross-section measurements, Monte Carlo models and next-to-leading-order QCD predictions
Production of Excited Charm and Charm-Strange Mesons at HERA
The production of excited charm, D 1(2420)0 and D 2 * (2460)0, and charm-strange, D s1(2536)±, mesons in ep collisions was measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 126 pb -1. Masses, widths and helicity parameters were determined. The measured yields were converted to the rates of c quarks hadronising as a given excited charm meson and to the ratios of the dominant D 2 * (2460)0 and D s1(2536) ± branching fractions. A search for the radially excited charm meson, D *(2640)±, was also performed. The results are compared with those measured previously and with theoretical expectations
