How do porosity-inducing techniques affect antibiotic elution from bone cement? An in vitro comparison between hydrogen peroxide and a mechanical mixer
This paper presents the results of stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes analysis (δ13Cco,
δ15N and δ13Cap) of a sample of 20 adult human individuals from different sectors of the site Los
Amarillos (Regional Development and Inca Period, Humahuaca, Jujuy, Argentina). The main
goal was to determine the prevailing resources in diets, considering regional isotopic data for
vegetable and animal resources. Besides, the internal variability of the sample was evaluated,
considering the spatial provenance of the individuals. Our results indicate a balanced diet among
meat resources, from heights below 3.900 m a.s.l., and vegetables under C4 photosynthetic
pathway (maize and amaranth). The sample shows also little difference in dietary patterns, when
the contextual information of the burials is taken into account.
Bioactive Steroidal Glycosides from the Starfish Anasterias
Abstract: Cytotoxic fractions obtained by purification of the ethanolic extract of Anasterias minuta contain sulfated hexasaccharide glycosides. These compounds show antifungal activity against Cladosporium cucumerinum
Starfish saponins, Part 2. Steroidal oligoglycosides from the starfish Cosmasterias lurida
Novel sterols from the sponge esperiopsis edwardii
The sponge Esperiopsis edwardii was examined for its steroids. It contains forty-three C27-C29 derivatives with four different types of nucleus: 3 β-hydroxy-Δ5-; 3β-hydroxy-5αH-; 3α-hydroxy-5α H- and 3-keto-Δ4-derivatives. The four groups present similar side-chain patterns and identical GC profiles. Those sterols having the 3α-hydroxy-5αH-structural configuration constitute a new group of natural products. © 1988
