Evaluating LANDSAT wildland classification accuracies

Procedures to evaluate the accuracy of LANDSAT derived wildland cover classifications are described. The evaluation procedures include: (1) implementing a stratified random sample for obtaining unbiased verification data; (2) performing area by area comparisons between verification and LANDSAT data for both heterogeneous and homogeneous fields; (3) providing overall and individual classification accuracies with confidence limits; (4) displaying results within contingency tables for analysis of confusion between classes; and (5) quantifying the amount of information (bits/square kilometer) conveyed in the LANDSAT classification

Development in high speed, variable sweep aircraft research is reviewed. The 1946 Langley wind tunnel studies related to variable oblique and variable sweep wings and results from the X-5 and the XF1OF variable sweep aircraft are discussed. A joint program with the British, evaluation of the British "Swallow", development of the outboard pivot wing/aft tail configuration concept by Langley, and the applied research program that followed and which provided the technology for the current, variable sweep military aircraft is outlined. El diario El Diluvio de Barcelona se publicó entre 1858 (inicialmente como El Telégrafo) y 1939. Jaime Claramunt, periodista nacido en la Cuba colonial, entró en su redacción en 1894 y dirigió el periódico entre 1916 y 1938. His deep imprint on the republican and most influential popular newspaper of Barcelona can be traced now with the memories of the journalist found in the National Archives of Cuba, a country where he lived his last years after the civil war and political exile.
