    Flora, estrutura diamétrica, hipsométrica e grupos ecológicos de um fragmento de Cerrado do Cariri, Tocantins

    O objetivo foi identificar a composição florística, destacar as espécies raras e/ou em risco de extinção, classificar em grupos ecológicos e avaliar a estrutura quanto às classes diamétricas e hipsométricas num fragmento de Cerrado de Cariri, Tocantins. Foram mensurados 2.654 indivíduos, distribuídos em 34 famílias, 73 gêneros e 81 espécies. A classe diamétrica predominante dos indivíduos foi 2,5-4,3 cm e hipsométrica de 4,6-8,2 m. Conclui-se que o fragmento é composto por indivíduos predominantemente jovens e o índice sucessional (IS=1,64) caracteriza a população com estágio de sucessão ecológico em fase de transição entre o inicial e o intermediário

    Prevalence of Mental Disorders among Prisoners in the State of São Paulo, Brazil

    Objective: To determine the prevalence of psychiatric disorders in the prison population in the State of São Paulo, Brazil.Methods: Through stratified random sampling, 1.192 men and 617 women prisoners were evaluated for the presence of psychiatric disorders by the Composite International Diagnostic Interview, 2.1 version, according to definitions and criteria of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). the prevalence estimates of mental disorders and their respective 95% confidence intervals were calculated and adjusted for sample design through complex sample analysis.Results: Lifetime and 12-month prevalence rates differed between genders. Lifetime and 12-month prevalence of any mental disorder was, respectively, 68.9% and 39.2% among women, and 56.1% and 22.1% among men. Lifetime and 12-month prevalence of anxious-phobic disorders was, respectively, 50% and 27.7% among women and 35.3% and 13.6% among men, of affective disorders was 40% and 21% among women and 20.8% and 9.9% among men, and of drug-related disorders was 25.2% and 1.6% among women and 26.5% and 1.3% among men. for severe mental disorders (psychotic, bipolar disorders, and severe depression), the lifetime and 12-month prevalence rates were, respectively, 25.8% and 14.7% among women, and 12.3% and 6.3% among men.Conclusions: This is the first large-scale epidemiological study performed with the prison population in Brazil, revealed high rates of psychiatric disorders among men and women. Many similarities, as well as some differences, were found between our results and those of studies conducted in other countries. the differences observed are more likely due to the peculiarities of the prison systems in each country than to the diagnostic criteria adopted in the studies.     Sexualidade de mulheres em tratamento para neoplasias da mama: enfoque na teoria da adaptação / Sexuality of women undergoing treatment for breast cancer: focus on the theory of adaptation

    Objetivo: Descrever quais adaptações que envolvem a sexualidade das mulheres durante os tratamentos de neoplasias da mama. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, descritivo, exploratório, realizado com quinze mulheres em tratamento de neoplasias da mama no Centro de Alta Complexidade em Oncologia do hospital universitário. Os dados foram submetidos a técnica de análise Temática de Minayo e discutidos de acordo com a teoria da adaptação. Resultados: A maioria das mulheres sofre problemas de adaptação à nova realidade, sendo a imagem corporal bastante afetada durante o tratamento. Sentimentos de tristeza, vergonha, rejeição, insatisfação, medo e mutilação foram descritos na maioria das falas. Contudo, a depender da sua capacidade de adaptação e enfrentamento, algumas mulheres demonstraram esperança, coragem e conseguiram identificar ganhos em meio a algumas perdas, tornando esse período um período de mudança e crescimento. Conclusão: A maneira como cada mulher vivencia o adoecimento influencia diretamente na sua sexualidade, dessa forma, os profissionais de enfermagem, juntamente com a equipe multiprofissional de saúde devem estar preparados para a infinidade de possibilidades de vivências e experiências em relação a esse tema

    Technology enabling the largest free and accessible event worldwide on COVID-19 management: experience report: Tecnologia viabilizando o maior evento gratuito e acessível do mundo sobre gestão da COVID-19: relato de experiência

    Introdução: O uso das redes sociais como fonte de informação durante a pandemia de Covid-19 possibilitou o acesso do grande público a informações atualizadas, mas também permitiu uma intensa disseminação de notícias falsas no Brasil e no mundo. Objetivo: Este relatório tem como objetivo apresentar a experiência da tecnologia que possibilita a organização e implantação de um evento científico online gratuito de grande escala sobre a Covid-19, com foco em informações baseadas em evidências, atendimento e gestão do paciente. Métodos: O "Primeiro Congresso Brasileiro de Evidências Clínicas sobre Covid-19" aconteceu entre os dias 03 e 07 de maio de 2021 e foi realizado pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, a principal universidade federal do Brasil. Resultados: Houve 27.102 cadastros. A transmissão teve 29.170 visualizações no primeiro dia. Em 25 de junho de 2021, foram 80.923 visualizações para a versão original em áudio e 10.352 visualizações para a tradução simultânea. Os tópicos compreenderam prevenção da Covid-19, gestão na atenção primária, atendimento pré-hospitalar, assistência hospitalar, unidade de terapia intensiva, longa-COVID-19, vacinas, saúde mental e custos. Minipalestras foram seguidas de discussão e interação com os participantes. Palestrantes e moderadores de todo o Brasil e do exterior foram escolhidos de acordo com sua expertise em temas de Covid-19 e em medicina baseada em evidências. Entre as sessões, foram apresentados depoimentos em vídeo de pessoas que não puderam trabalhar em casa sobre o que tocou seu coração durante a pandemia. A acessibilidade foi garantida por meio de tradução simultânea para a Língua Brasileira de Sinais. A satisfação dos participantes foi avaliada, com 2.228 respondentes, dos quais 97,4% disseram que suas expectativas foram superadas e 86,8% relataram adquirir novos conhecimentos sobre a Covid-19. Final considerations: Essa experiência mostrou que a tecnologia possibilitou a divulgação de evidências científicas acessíveis sobre a Covid-19 para um grande público por meio de um evento online gratuito

    Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of WW bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    This paper presents measurements of the W+μ+νW^+ \rightarrow \mu^+\nu and WμνW^- \rightarrow \mu^-\nu cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the 1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between them.Comment: 38 pages in total, author list starting page 22, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to EPJC.     Pervasive gaps in Amazonian ecological research

    Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050.     Combined measurement of differential and total cross sections in the H → γγ and the H → ZZ* → 4ℓ decay channels at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    A combined measurement of differential and inclusive total cross sections of Higgs boson production is performed using 36.1 fb−1 of 13 TeV proton–proton collision data produced by the LHC and recorded by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016. Cross sections are obtained from measured H→γγ and H→ZZ*(→4ℓ event yields, which are combined taking into account detector efficiencies, resolution, acceptances and branching fractions. The total Higgs boson production cross section is measured to be 57.0−5.9 +6.0 (stat.) −3.3 +4.0 (syst.) pb, in agreement with the Standard Model prediction. Differential cross-section measurements are presented for the Higgs boson transverse momentum distribution, Higgs boson rapidity, number of jets produced together with the Higgs boson, and the transverse momentum of the leading jet. The results from the two decay channels are found to be compatible, and their combination agrees with the Standard Model predictions

    Measurement of jet fragmentation in Pb+Pb and pp collisions at √s NN =5.02 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    This paper presents a measurement of jet fragmentation functions in 0.49 nb −1 of Pb+Pb collisions and 25 pb −1 of pp collisions at √ sNN =5.02 TeV collected in 2015 with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. These measurements provide insight into the jet quenching process in the quark-gluon plasma created in the aftermath of ultra-relativistic collisions between two nuclei. The modifications to the jet fragmentation functions are quantified by dividing the measurements in Pb+Pb collisions by baseline measurements in pp collisions. This ratio is studied as a function of the transverse momentum of the jet, the jet rapidity, and the centrality of the collision. In both collision systems, the jet fragmentation functions are measured for jets with transverse momentum between 126 GeV and 398 GeV and with an absolute value of jet rapidity less than 2.1. An enhancement of particles carrying a small fraction of the jet momentum is observed, which increases with centrality and with increasing jet transverse momentum. Yields of particles carrying a very large fraction of the jet momentum are also observed to be enhanced. Between these two enhancements of the fragmentation functions a suppression of particles carrying an intermediate fraction of the jet momentum is observed in Pb+Pb collisions. A small dependence of the modifications on jet rapidity is observed

    Search for Higgs bosons produced via vector-boson fusion and decaying into bottom quark pairs in √s =13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for the bb ¯ decay of the Standard Model Higgs boson produced through vector-boson fusion is presented. Three mutually exclusive channels are considered: two all-hadronic channels and a photon-associated channel. Results are reported from the analysis of up to 30.6 fb −1 of pp data at s √ =13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measured signal strength relative to the Standard Model prediction from the combined analysis is 2.5 +1.4 −1.3 for inclusive Higgs boson production and 3.0 +1.7 −1.6 for vector-boson fusion production only
