Lineamenti morfologici e cartografia dei popolamenti bentonici di Rada della Reale nell'isola dell’Asinara (Sardegna NW)= Morphological elements and cartography of benthic community in Rada della Reale, Asinara Island (Sardinia NW)

A detailed investigation of bottom types in Rada della Reale has been carried out in 1998 as part of resources study of Asinara National Park. The study area, along 23 km of coastline between Punta Barbatossa and Punta Trabucato, has a surface of 15 km2. Detailed informattin on biotic communities in the area has been recorded and transferred in a thematic map together with geomorphological features. The main benthic community is represented by the Posidonia oceanica meadow, wlth a denslty up to 700-800 shootslm2. Other seagrasses like Cymodocea nodosa and Caulerpa prolifera are also present. In the mediolittoral zone assemblages of Patella ferruginea are of main importance. Considering the great value of the area, in the future an integrated management strategy that improves conservation and enhances the value of the resources must be developed

Metodo e dispositivo per la prova di file endodontici

RIASSUNTO Sono descritti un metodo, ed un dispositivo per l’attuazione di detto metodo, per realizzare prove di fatica, su file endodontici (2) rotanti o 5 reciprocanti in leghe Ni-Ti a memoria di forma. Il metodo è del tipo che prevede l’inserimento di detto file (2) in canali artificiali (3), ed è caratterizzato dal fatto di effettuare: - prove di fatica statica, ponendo in rotazione 10 detto file (2) e obbligandolo a deformarsi ciclicamente ad ogni rotazione del file (2) stesso; - prove di fatica dinamica, mediante un inserimento del file (2) in profondità in un canale (3), detta placchetta (4) venendo allontanata e 15 riavvicinata di una corsa predefinita. Il dispositivo è del tipo che comprende uno o più canali artificiali (3), ed è caratterizzato dal fatto di comprendere: - primi mezzi (5) atti a posizionare il file (2) 20 rispetto a detti canali artificiali (3); - secondi mezzi (6) atti a fare in modo tale che il file (2) entri ed esca da detti canali (3), per effettuare una prova di fatica dinamica; - terzi mezzi (7) per imprimere al file (2) un moto 25 rotatorio, per effettuare una prova di fatica statica.

Metallurgical characterization of Reciproc and Reciproc Blue Ni-Ti instruments

Reciproc and Reciproc Blue files are composed of the same NiTi alloy but they undergo different thermal treatment. The Reciproc Blue show a titanium oxide superficial layer as confirmed by Raman spectroscopy and are more flexible than Reciproc M-Wire due to their different thermal treatment. The smaller and denser grains of Reciproc Blue files are responsible for the different transition temperatures of the two instruments

Design è un sostantivo inglese che significa “progetto”, deriva dal latino pro-iacere (gettare in avanti) a indicare un’attività che contiene in sè l’idea di proiezione in avanti, di futuro. La parola design ha acquisito nel tempo molteplici significati: oggi non riguarda solo più il prodotto e la comunicazione ma anche i servizi, le strategie e i sistemi intrecciando in modo sempre più stretto i temi della sostenibilità ambientale. I designers oggi devono occuparsi non soltanto dello sviluppo di un singolo prodotto, ma dell’intero sistema-prodotto collocato in un preciso contesto sociale, politico, economico e culturale. Il designer sistemico, in particolare, progetta relazioni virtuose tra persone e attività produttive generando ricadute positive a scala sociale e ambientale. La mostra “Le Potenzialità del territorio” restituisce le direzioni più innovative della ricerca in design offrendo alcune indicazioni progettuali su come valorizzare un contesto sociale e territoriale caratterizzato da attività industriali e agricole non relazionate tra loro. Si propone un nuovo modello economico-produttivo che renda coese e forti le relazioni tra i diversi soggetti, generando benefici, anche in termini di salute, per l’intera collettività. Il territorio è qui visto come un’opportunità da studiare e valorizzare in tutte le sue componenti sociali, culturali, materiali e climatiche. Oggi il mondo naturale e quello artificiale hanno traiettorie che non si intersecano: è più che mai urgente riavvicinarli ricostruendo la trama dei loro rapporti

Genome-wide Analyses Identify KIF5A as a Novel ALS Gene

To identify novel genes associated with ALS, we undertook two lines of investigation. We carried out a genome-wide association study comparing 20,806 ALS cases and 59,804 controls. Independently, we performed a rare variant burden analysis comparing 1,138 index familial ALS cases and 19,494 controls. Through both approaches, we identified kinesin family member 5A (KIF5A) as a novel gene associated with ALS. Interestingly, mutations predominantly in the N-terminal motor domain of KIF5A are causative for two neurodegenerative diseases: hereditary spastic paraplegia (SPG10) and Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 2 (CMT2). In contrast, ALS-associated mutations are primarily located at the C-terminal cargo-binding tail domain and patients harboring loss-of-function mutations displayed an extended survival relative to typical ALS cases. Taken together, these results broaden the phenotype spectrum resulting from mutations in KIF5A and strengthen the role of cytoskeletal defects in the pathogenesis of ALS.Peer reviewe

Measurements of the charge asymmetry in top-quark pair production in the dilepton final state at s √ =8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

Measurements of the top-antitop quark pair production charge asymmetry in the dilepton channel, characterized by two high-pT leptons (electrons or muons), are presented using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3  fb−1 from pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy s√=8  TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Inclusive and differential measurements as a function of the invariant mass, transverse momentum, and longitudinal boost of the tt¯ system are performed both in the full phase space and in a fiducial phase space closely matching the detector acceptance. Two observables are studied: AℓℓC based on the selected leptons and Att¯C based on the reconstructed tt¯ final state. The inclusive asymmetries are measured in the full phase space to be AℓℓC=0.008±0.006 and Att¯C=0.021±0.016, which are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions of AℓℓC=0.0064±0.0003 and Att¯C=0.0111±0.0004
