(...)EnglishAfter the Second World War licences for dailies were given as a rule only to individual parties within the British occupation zone of Germany. However, Hanover was an exception. There a paper was published for the first time on July 3, 1946 in cooperation with the three conservative parties, the Hannoversche Neueste Nachrichten. They were backed by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) the Liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Agrarian Lower-Saxonian County Party (later German Party) DP. The collaboration did not last long. For from as early as January 1, 1947 each party had its own newspaper. The Hannoversche Neueste Nachrichten remained that of the CDU. After the introduction of ncw currency the CDU and DP papers (Deutsche Volkszeitung) merged into the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung. This developed into an independent paper of conservative attitude and today has the largest circulation in Hannover

(...)EnglishThe city of Hamburg has by tradition a majority of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Despite this fact, a !arge daily newspaper related to the Christian Democratic Party (CDU) was created right after the war (April 2, 1946): the „Hamburger Allgemeine". The first editors in chief were: Karl Silex (formerly with „Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung", later with „Der Tagesspiegel", Berlin) and Rolf von Loetzen and since 1949 the editor in chief was Hans Georg von Studnitz. The „Hamburger Allgemeine" flourished as long as newspapers were scarce and precious in postwar Germany. But as soon as 1949 economic difficulties began. In 1950 the paper merged with the „Hamburger Freie Presse" and hence ceased publication

(...) EnglishThe „Kölnische Rundschau" was published for the first time on March 19, 1946, in Cologne as the paper for the line of the Christian Democratic Party (CDU) lt is in some regard successor of the old „Kölnische Volkszeitung", a leading paper of the former German Catholic Zentrum Party. The „Kölnische Rundschau" understood itself always as an opinioned paper as weil as a paper for the masses. When Konrad Adenauer was German ChanceiJor, there was a rather good relationship between him and the „Rundschau", which has a special Bonn issue under the heading of „Bonner Rundschau". The close re!ationship to Adenauer w:is the reason why the „Kölnische Rundschau" was always looked upon as a paper more related to the CDUthan other papers of the same opinion

(...)EnglishBecause of the early occupation through American troups in the last war, Aachen became the first city with newspapers after the fall of the „Third Reich" in 1945. After having been licensed by the American troups the „Aachener Nachrichten" were published since January 23, 1945. After taking over through British troups they favored the foundation of newspapers directed by political parties: „Aachener Nachrichten", new edition for the Socialists (SPD) and „Aachener Volkszeitung" for the Christian Democrat Party (CDU) - founded in February 22, 1945. The „Aachener Volkszeitung" soon gained a lead and showed clearly that she was a Christian democratic but not a political party paper. After finishing the licence ban in 1949 the paper combined ten new raising local papers as own local editions of the „Aachener Volkszeitung"

    Optical second-harmonic effect of sol-gel inorganic-organic nanocomposites

Communications: Second-order nonlinear optically (NLO) active materials have promising technical applications in optoelectronic devices. A general problem in NLO-active polymeric systems is the decay of orientational order with time. Results are presented which show that using inorganic-organic composite materials produced by the sol-gel process as a rigid matrix for oriented ÷(2) chromophores (Figure) may provide a means of overcoming this problem

Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of WW bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

This paper presents measurements of the W+μ+νW^+ \rightarrow \mu^+\nu and WμνW^- \rightarrow \mu^-\nu cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the 1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between them.Comment: 38 pages in total, author list starting page 22, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to EPJC. Search for direct stau production in events with two hadronic tau-leptons in root s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for the direct production of the supersymmetric partners ofτ-leptons (staus) in final stateswith two hadronically decayingτ-leptons is presented. The analysis uses a dataset of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of139fb−1, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LargeHadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant deviation from the expected StandardModel background is observed. Limits are derived in scenarios of direct production of stau pairs with eachstau decaying into the stable lightest neutralino and oneτ-lepton in simplified models where the two staumass eigenstates are degenerate. Stau masses from 120 GeV to 390 GeV are excluded at 95% confidencelevel for a massless lightest neutralino

Search for chargino-neutralino production with mass splittings near the electroweak scale in three-lepton final states in √s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for supersymmetry through the pair production of electroweakinos with mass splittings near the electroweak scale and decaying via on-shell W and Z bosons is presented for a three-lepton final state. The analyzed proton-proton collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of √s=13  TeV were collected between 2015 and 2018 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139  fb−1. A search, emulating the recursive jigsaw reconstruction technique with easily reproducible laboratory-frame variables, is performed. The two excesses observed in the 2015–2016 data recursive jigsaw analysis in the low-mass three-lepton phase space are reproduced. Results with the full data set are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations. They are interpreted to set exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level on simplified models of chargino-neutralino pair production for masses up to 345 GeV
