    Evaluación de la frecuencia cardíaca y sus variaciones en pilotos de automovilismo

    OJETIVO: El objetivo de este estudio es demostrar el impacto a nivel cardiovascular que sufren los pilotos de automovilismo a través de la valoración de la frecuencia cardiaca y sus variaciones durante el momento de las carreras. MÉTODO: Para ello se utilizaron 3 aparatos de registro continuo Holter con los que se han obtenido las frecuencias cardiacas (FC) de pilotos amateurs y semiprofesionales durante el momento de la competición en el Circuito de Catalunya. RESULTADOS: Se analizaron los registros de 60 pilotos todos de sexo masculino con una edad media de 37 años (+/- 11,7 años), una altura de 175,9 cm (+/- 7 cm) y un peso de 75,6 Kg (+/- 10,9 Kg) que en promedio realizaron 27,1 vueltas al circuito, finalizando el 53% entre los primeros 10 puestos y el 19% en posiciones de podio. Destaca la presencia de una FC media de 119 lpm (+/- 15 lpm) y máxima de 177 lpm (+/- 16 lpm) que equivalen al 63% y al 96% de la FCMT. CONCLUSIONES: El aparato Holter es una herramienta eficaz para medir el impacto cardiovascular que sufren los pilotos a través del análisis de las FC. Los elevados valores de FC media y máxima alcanzados ponen de manifiesto el estrés cardiovascular sufrido por los pilotos. Este estrés cardiovascular aumenta en la medida en que los pilotos se acercan más a los puestos de meta. Un dato a destacar es que no se observan arritmias sostenidas durante las carrera

    INP1 involvement in pollen aperture formation is evolutionarily conserved and may require species-specific partners

    Pollen wall exine is usually deposited non-uniformly on the pollen surface, with areas of low exine deposition corresponding to pollen apertures. Little is known about how apertures form, with the novel Arabidopsis INP1 (INAPERTURATE POLLEN1) protein currently being the only identified aperture factor. In developing pollen, INP1 localizes to three plasma membrane domains and underlies formation of three apertures. Although INP1 homologs are found across angiosperms, they lack strong sequence conservation. Thus, it has been unclear whether they also act as aperture factors and whether their sequence divergence contributes to interspecies differences in aperture patterns. To explore the functional conservation of INP1 homologs, we used mutant analysis in maize and tested whether homologs from several other species could function in Arabidopsis. Our data suggest that the INP1 involvement in aperture formation is evolutionarily conserved, despite the significant divergence of INP1 sequences and aperture patterns, but that additional species-specific factors are likely to be required to guide INP1 and to provide information for aperture patterning. To determine the regions in INP1 necessary for its localization and function, we used fragment fusions, domain swaps, and interspecific protein chimeras.     Nuclear role for human Argonaute-1 as an estrogen-dependent transcription coactivator

    In mammals, argonaute (AGO) proteins have been characterized for their roles in small RNA mediated posttranscriptional and also in transcriptional gene silencing. Here, we report a different role for AGO1 in estradiol-triggered transcriptional activation in human cells. We show that in MCF-7 mammary gland cells, AGO1 associates with transcriptional enhancers of estrogen receptor α (ERα) and that this association is up-regulated by treating the cells with estrogen (E2), displaying a positive correlation with the activation of these enhancers.Moreover, we show that AGO1 interacts with ERα and that this interaction is also increased by E2 treatment, but occurs in the absence of RNA. We show that AGO1 acts positively as a coactivator in estradiol-triggered transcription regulation by promoting ERα binding to its enhancers. Consistently, AGO1 depletion decreases long-range contacts between ERα enhancers and their target promoters.     Optimasi Portofolio Resiko Menggunakan Model Markowitz MVO Dikaitkan dengan Keterbatasan Manusia dalam Memprediksi Masa Depan dalam Perspektif Al-Qur`an

    Risk portfolio on modern finance has become increasingly technical, requiring the use of sophisticated mathematical tools in both research and practice. Since companies cannot insure themselves completely against risk, as human incompetence in predicting the future precisely that written in Al-Quran surah Luqman verse 34, they have to manage it to yield an optimal portfolio. The objective here is to minimize the variance among all portfolios, or alternatively, to maximize expected return among all portfolios that has at least a certain expected return. Furthermore, this study focuses on optimizing risk portfolio so called Markowitz MVO (Mean-Variance Optimization). Some theoretical frameworks for analysis are arithmetic mean, geometric mean, variance, covariance, linear programming, and quadratic programming. Moreover, finding a minimum variance portfolio produces a convex quadratic programming, that is minimizing the objective function ðð¥with constraintsð ð 𥠥 ðandð´ð¥ = ð. The outcome of this research is the solution of optimal risk portofolio in some investments that could be finished smoothly using MATLAB R2007b software together with its graphic analysis

    Search for heavy resonances decaying to two Higgs bosons in final states containing four b quarks

    A search is presented for narrow heavy resonances X decaying into pairs of Higgs bosons (H) in proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC at root s = 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb(-1). The search considers HH resonances with masses between 1 and 3 TeV, having final states of two b quark pairs. Each Higgs boson is produced with large momentum, and the hadronization products of the pair of b quarks can usually be reconstructed as single large jets. The background from multijet and t (t) over bar events is significantly reduced by applying requirements related to the flavor of the jet, its mass, and its substructure. The signal would be identified as a peak on top of the dijet invariant mass spectrum of the remaining background events. No evidence is observed for such a signal. Upper limits obtained at 95 confidence level for the product of the production cross section and branching fraction sigma(gg -> X) B(X -> HH -> b (b) over barb (b) over bar) range from 10 to 1.5 fb for the mass of X from 1.15 to 2.0 TeV, significantly extending previous searches. For a warped extra dimension theory with amass scale Lambda(R) = 1 TeV, the data exclude radion scalar masses between 1.15 and 1.55 TeV
