Econometric Modeling of Electricity Consumption by Households as a Tool for the Calculating of the Social Consumption Norm

Since July 2016, it is planned to introduce electricity tariffs with the social consumption norm in all regions of Russia. The methodology for calculation the electricity social consumption norm for different types of households was legally adopted by resolutions of the Government of the Russian Federation. According to these regulations, at least 70 % of the actual volume of electric power supply to the population should fall within the social norm. This article analyzes the validity of the methodology for calculating the social norm. The research is based on the data about the consumption of electricity by Russian households. The purpose of this study is to construct an econometric model of electricity consumption and calculate model- based social norms for different types of households. Explanatory variables in the model are the factors that describe the household size and accommodation conditions: the number of residents, the presence or absence of electric cooker, the type of settlement (urban or rural), the climate of the region where the household lives. The simulation results show that 70 % of electricity will be consumed within the social norms, if the size of the norm for households consisting of one person, will be from 110 to 210 kWΒ·h, depending on the accommodation conditions. The author also evaluates the necessary social norm increments for the second, third and subsequent members of different household types. The developed model takes into account the regional characteristics of energy consumption and can be useful for calculating the social norm of electricity consumption in the regions of Russian Federation

Β Genesis of the mass and its development as a leading spiritual vocal and choral genre of the European middle Ages and Renaissance are considered. The peculiarities of composition and musical language of the oratorio Β«St. Matthew PassionΒ» by Metropolitan Hilarion are identified. It is proved that the formation of the logic of melodic development, composition and harmonic solutions of the oratorio has been influenced by the traditions of Western music. Factors here are the images, themes, and artistic techniques, which are taken from the Byzantine and Russian Church services. Analysis of music of Pavel Lungin's β€œThe Conductor” has revealed the importance of the oratorio β€œSt. Matthew Passion” by Metropolitan Hilarion to understand the meaning of the work. The interaction of the visual and auditory aspects leads to a polyphony of meanings. This polyphony enriches the understanding of works of art

Composition and quality of marine Omega-3 supplements on the Russian and Norwegian markets: a comparative study.

The possible health effects of the long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic (EPA; 20:5 n-3) and docosahexaenoic (DHA; 22:6 n-3) have been studied for the last 40 years. The outcome of these studies has shown that intake of these Omega-3 may reduce risk of death from cardiovascular disease and possibly also have anticancer effects, improve brain development, reduce depression and delay the beginning of Alzheimer’s disease. The reference daily intake for EPA+DHA is 500 mg and it is advised to obtain this quantity from fish. Omega-3 supplements or functional foods with added Omega-3 fatty acids could be an alternative for people with low consumption of fish. Supplements containing long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids reached $33 billion in global sales in 2012 with an annual growth rate for the period of 2007-2012 equal to 12%. An increase in reliability of producers within quality and safety issues is essential in a way to obtain fisheries management goals, sustainable use of marine resources and maximizing of benefits for all involved. Composition of a product claimed on the label is the one of the main criteria for consumers in a product choice and evaluation of benefits. The overall aim of the thesis was to compare the composition and quality of marine Omega-3 supplements on Russian and Norwegian markets by accomplishment of the following tasks: 1. Determination of fatty acid composition of the products by gas chromatography and comparison with the specifications given on the products labels; 2. Analysis of lipid classes by high performance thin layer chromatography and comparison with the specification given on the products labels. Thirteen products (7 Russian and 6 Norwegian) were analyzed. The Russian products contained triacylglycerols and generally had a low concentration of long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids. All the supplements were declared as fish oils, but, in fact, 4 of them contained plant oils resulting in an increased n-6/n-3 ratio. The Russian product descriptions had no information about the amount of oil in capsules or quantity of EPA and DHA. The recommended intake for 5 of the 6 capsule products was high, from 9 to 24 per day. The Norwegian capsule products (5) were mostly concentrated supplements containing up to 71% of long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids, either in the form of ethyl esters or triacylglycerols. Information about content of Omega-3 fatty acids and EPA and DHA was included on the labels. However, information about oil amount in capsule was lacking for one product. The analysis suggested that the specification with regard to the lipid class form was not always precise. Two products were described as native marine oils, but the analysis showed that they contained ethyl esters. Claimed and found content of Omega-3, EPA and DHA, were slightly different for one product, up to 39% lower for 3 products and higher for one supplement. Daily intake of 2 capsules on the average met the recommended daily intake of 500mg of EPA+DHA. The average price per gram of Omega-3 was approximately the same for the Russian and Norwegian products

Assessment of genotoxic and mutagenic effects of food products by bioassay methods

The current state of studies on application and safety of food additives in various technologies for food production is examined. Considerable attention should be given to studies dedicated to analysis of food safety criteria due to a possibility of appearance of adverse consequences for human health and the trend towards increasing life quality. Special emphasis is placed on such parameters as genotoxicity and mutagenicity. It is shown that the most rapid and convenient tool for complex monitoring of product toxicity can be the bioassay procedure. Based on the review of the literature on bioassays for edible meat and meat products, canned foods, carbonated soft drinks, beer, milk and milk containing products as well as seasonings, the authors show that above mentioned products had the cyto- and genotoxic potential when tested on animal and human cell cultures, microorganisms and plants. With that, it was found that a list of relevant publications is quite small despite a significant growth in scientific research dedicated to food toxicity assessment using bioassays. A review on the conducted research on assessment of genotoxic and mutagenic effects of foods by bioassay methods will make it possible to extend the understanding of the processes and mechanisms of this toxicity and form more rational concept of consumption

Forma mentis networks map how nursing and engineering students enhance their mindsets about innovation and health during professional growth

Reconstructing a "forma mentis", a mindset, and its changes, means capturing how individuals perceive topics, trends and experiences over time. To this aim we use forma mentis networks (FMNs), which enable direct, microscopic access to how individuals conceptually perceive knowledge and sentiment around a topic, providing richer contextual information than machine learning. FMNs build cognitive representations of stances through psycholinguistic tools like conceptual associations from semantic memory (free associations, i.e., one concept eliciting another) and affect norms (valence, i.e., how attractive a concept is). We test FMNs by investigating how Norwegian nursing and engineering students perceived innovation and health before and after a 2-month research project in e-health. We built and analysed FMNs by six individuals, based on 75 cues about innovation and health, and leading to 1,000 associations between 730 concepts. We repeated this procedure before and after the project. When investigating changes over time, individual FMNs highlighted drastic improvements in all students' stances towards "teamwork", "collaboration", "engineering" and "future", indicating the acquisition and strengthening of a positive belief about innovation. Nursing students improved their perception of "robots" and "technology" and related them to the future of nursing. A group-level analysis related these changes to the emergence, during the project, of conceptual associations about openness towards multidisciplinary collaboration, and a positive, leadershiporiented group dynamics. The whole group identified "mathematics" and "coding" as highly relevant concepts after the project. When investigating persistent associations, characterising the core of students' mindsets, network distance entropy and closeness identified as pivotal in the students' mindsets concepts related to "personal well-being", "professional growth" and "teamwork". This result aligns with and extends previous studies reporting the relevance of teamwork and personal well-being for Norwegian healthcare professionals, also within the novel e-health sector. Our analysis indicates that forma mentis networks are powerful proxies for detecting individual- and grouplevel mindset changes due to professional growth. FMNs open new scenarios for datainformed, multidisciplinary interventions aimed at professional training in innovation.publishedVersio
