    Okul Öncesi Dönem Çocuklarının Duygusal Yüz İfadelerini Yansıtan İnsan Figürü Çizimlerinde Kullandıkları Renklerin İncelenmesi

    The aim of this study is to examine the facial expressions and color preferences used by orphaned children, children who have experienced an earthquake and children living with their parents.The sample of the study included 85 children, 27 of whom had experienced the great earthquakes in Bolu and Gölcük in 1999, 21 orphans living in Keçiören Atatürk Child Care Center and 37 children living with their families. Regular A4 white paper and coloring pens were used as data collecting tools, and children were asked to draw human figures with happy, scared, surprised, sad and aggravated facial expressions, respectively. Children were told that they were allowed to use whichever colors they wanted.. The children’s drawings, each reflecting different facial expressions, were examined to ascertain which, and how many, colors had been used. The results of the study revealed that the majority of the children who had experienced an earthquake and the orphaned children used only one or two colors, while the majority of the children living with their families used at least two or more different colors. It was found that the children who had experienced an earthquake particularly chose black as the color to reflect all of the facial expressions. It was seen that the colors used by orphans and by the children living with their families showed differences according to the facial expressions illustrated.Bu araştırmanın amacı, korunmaya muhtaç çocukların, depremi yaşayan çocukların ve ailesi ile yaşayan çocukların duygularını dışa vurmalarında, yüz ifadeleri ve renk tercihlerini incelemektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini, Bolu ve Gölcük depremini yaşamış 27 çocuk ile Ankara ilinde Keçiören Atatürk Çocuk Yuvası’nda kalan 21 korunmaya muhtaç çocuk ve ailesi yanında yaşayan 37 çocuk olmak üzere toplam 85 çocuk oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak A4 boyutunda beyaz kağıtlar ve renkli boya kalemleri çocuklara dağıtılmış ve çocuklardan sırasıyla mutlu, korkmuş, şaşırmış, üzgün ve öfkeli bir insan figürü çizmeleri istenmiştir. Çocukların renk tercihlerinde serbest oldukları belirtilmiştir. Çocukların yaptığı her biri farklı bir yüz ifadesini yansıtan resimler, kullanılan renk sayısına ve kullanılan renklere göre incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları, korunmaya muhtaç ve depremi yaşayan çocukların çoğunluğunun tek veya iki renk kullandığını, aileleri ile yaşayan çocukların çoğunluğunun ise en az iki ya da daha fazla renk kullandığını ortaya koymaktadır. Özellikle depremi yaşamış çocukların tüm yüz ifadelerini yansıtan insan figürü çizimlerinde siyah rengi tercih ettikleri bulunmuştur. Korunmaya muhtaç çocukların ve ailesi ile yaşayan çocukların en yüksek oranda kullandıkları renklerin yüz ifadelerine göre değişiklik gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Her iki grup incelendiğinde; ailesi ile yaşayan çocukların kullandıkları renklerin kullanım yüzdelerinin, korunmaya muhtaç çocukların kullanım yüzdelerine göre daha yüksek olduğu da ulaşılan önemli bulgulardandır

    Changes in Color Stability and Surface Roughness of Teflon-Coated Arch Wires After Clinical Use

    Objective:Peeling of polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon)-coated esthetic arch wires results in rough surfaces that may cause plaque accumulation, and the exposed core material may not meet the esthetic expectations of patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in-vivo surface roughness, Streptococcus mutans colonization, and color stability of Teflon-coated arch wires from 3 different manufacturers.Methods:Surface roughness and color data of 0.016-inch and 0.016 × 0.022-inch Teflon-coated arch wires from 3 different manufacturers were recorded as they were received (T0) and after 28 days of clinical exposure (retrieved) (T1) using an atomic force microscope and a spectrophotometer. The amount of S. mutans was assessed in terms of colony-forming units on the as-received and retrieved wires.Results:The surface roughness increased significantly, and a clinically noticeable color change was observed in all groups after clinical use (P < .005). There was no statistically significant difference in the amount of S. mutans adhesion for most of the wires. No significant correlation was found between the amount of S. mutans adhesion and the surface roughness.Conclusion:All the arch wires showed increased surface roughness and clinically noticeable color change. The surface roughness values were not found to be correlated with the amount of S. mutans adhesion

    Behaviour of 9-Ethyl-9H-carbazole Hydrazone Derivatives Against Oxidant Systems: Protective Effect on Amyloid β-Induced Damage

    Antioxidants are helpful in prevention of several diseases related with oxidative stress including neurodegenerative disorders. In recent studies, carbazoles were given proof of promising antioxidant activities. In this article, 9-ethyl-9H-carbazole hydrazone derivatives were synthesized, characterized and their in vitro antioxidant activity and possible cytotoxic effects were investigated. Furthermore, protective effect of the synthesized derivatives against amyloid β-induced damage in PC12 neuronal cells was examined by using MTT assay. The newly synthesized carbazoles were found to have radical scavenging activity with a varying potency both in cell-free and cell-based in vitro assays. Several compounds, especially such as 3d and 3e, 3m and 3n bearing two halogen groups on the phenyl ring, were found to have cytotoxic activity. However, their cytotoxic activities were not higher than that of melatonin. Several compounds also significantly protected neuronal PC12 cells against amyloid β-induced damage, which can be defined as neuroprotective agents. (4-(2-((9-Ethyl-9H-carbazol-3-yl)methylene)hydrazinyl)benzonitrile) 3r was found as the most active compound with both radical scavenging activity and neuroprotective effects against amyloid β-induced damage. These findings might provide an alternative strategy for developing novel carbazole derivatives for management of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer\u27s disease.     A multi-country test of brief reappraisal interventions on emotions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The COVID-19 pandemic has increased negative emotions and decreased positive emotions globally. Left unchecked, these emotional changes might have a wide array of adverse impacts. To reduce negative emotions and increase positive emotions, we tested the effectiveness of reappraisal, an emotion-regulation strategy that modifies how one thinks about a situation. Participants from 87 countries and regions (n = 21,644) were randomly assigned to one of two brief reappraisal interventions (reconstrual or repurposing) or one of two control conditions (active or passive). Results revealed that both reappraisal interventions (vesus both control conditions) consistently reduced negative emotions and increased positive emotions across different measures. Reconstrual and repurposing interventions had similar effects. Importantly, planned exploratory analyses indicated that reappraisal interventions did not reduce intentions to practice preventive health behaviours. The findings demonstrate the viability of creating scalable, low-cost interventions for use around the world

    Bu ara araştırma, Gazi Eğititimi Anabilim Dalından mezun olan öğğencilerin istihdam durumlarını incelemek amacıyla planlanıp yürütülmü tür. Araştırmanın evrenini, Gazi Eğitim Fakültesi Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Bölümü Resim-\' Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı'ndan 2003 2006 yılları arasında mezun olan 441 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 2003 2006 yılları arasında mezun olan ve örnekleme alınan 180 kişiden, anket geri dönüşümünün sağlandı!ı 153 mezun olu turmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında mezunlar için anket formu kullanılmıştır. Anket formu ile elde edilen nitel veriler sayısallaştırılarak, araştırmanın problem ve alt problemleri doğrultusunda frekans ve yüzde oranları belirlenerek analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, mezunlarİn istihdam durumları incelenmiş, resim-i ö!retmenli!i ö!retim programİnİn ö!rencileri çalışma hayatİna hazİrlamadaki etkileri araştİrİlmİş, mezunlarİn üniversiteden iş bulma konusundaki beklentileri ve asİl yapmak istedikleri meslekler saptanmİ tİr. Araştİrma sonunda, ulaşİlan sonuçlara dayalİ olarak öneriler sunulmu tur.This study was planned and executed for the purpose of examining the employment status of graduates of Gazi Education Faculty Department of Fine Arts, Branch of Art Teaching. The population of the study is 441 students graduated from Gazi University Gazi Education Faculty Department of Fine Arts, Branch of Art Teaching between 2003- 2006. The sample consists of 153 students, whom were able to be reached of the graduates between years of 2003- 2006. A questionnaire form was used in the research process. The qualitative data acquired through the questionnaire was quantified and analyzed towards the problems and the sub-problems by their means of frequency and percentage values being clarified. In the result of the study, the employment statuses of the students graduated were examined, the effect of the art teaching program on the art teacher candidates preparetion, were investigated and their expectations of finding a job and professions they desired to become were clarified. At the end of the study, the advice statements are presented according to these results

    Yüksek Lisans TeziAraştırmanın genel amacı Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı öğretmenlerinin öğretimin ana materyali olan ders kitaplarına bağlılık durumlarını incelemektir. Bu incelemeyi yapmak için öğretmenlere 5'li Likert tipi ölçek uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılında Ankara ili merkez ilçelerinde görev yapan 207 Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı öğretmeni katılmıştır. Sonuçlar SPSS programında analiz edilmiştir. Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı öğretmenlerinin ders kitaplarına bağlılıkları ölçekten elde edilen sonuçların ortalamasına göre belirlenmiştir. Cinsiyet, yaş, hizmet yılı, mezun olunan fakülte ve eğitim durumu değişkenleri ile öğretmenlerin ders kitaplarına bağlılık durumları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olup olmadığı incelenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre öğretmenlerin ders kitaplarına bağlı olmadıkları izlenirken öğretmenlerin ders kitaplarına bağlılık durumlarının değişkenlere göre anlamlı derecede farklılık göstermediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.The general purpose of the research is to examine the commitment of Turkish Language and Literature teachers to the textbooks, which are the main material of teaching. In order to make this examination, a 5-point Likert type scale was applied to the teachers. In the research, descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. 207 Turkish Language and Literature teachers working in the central districts of Ankara province participated in the research in the 2022-2023 academic year. The results were analyzed in the SPSS program. The commitment of Turkish Language and Literature teachers to the textbooks was determined according to the average of the results obtained from the scale. It was investigated whether there was a significant difference between the variables of gender, age, years of service, graduated faculty and educational status, and teachers' adherence to textbooks. According to the results obtained, it is observed that the teachers are dependent on the textbooks
