INTERACTION OF K AND B IN THE INTENSITY OF COFFEE RUST IN NUTRIENT SOLUTION

This study aimed at assessing the interaction of potassium (K) and boron (B) in the coffee rust intensity in a nutrient solution. The experiment which was performed in a greenhouse was set up in the randomized complete block design (DBC) with four replicates. The experimental unit involved a single vase with two Catuaí Vermelho (IAC 144) cultivars. The treatments included five doses of boron (0.05, 0.50, 1, 2 and 4 mg L-1) and five of potassium (4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 mmol L-1), totaling to 25 treatments in a factorial variance analysis. All the coffee seedling leaves were inoculated with Hemileia vastatrix. For the next 24 hours, the vases were covered with a black plastic bag, and left in the greenhouse to ensure favorable conditions for the fungal infection. A significant interaction was observed between the potassium (K) and boron (B) nutrients in coffee rust intensity. As the boron dose increased from 0.05 to 2.0 mg L-1, the coffee rust intensity was observed to rise. From the 0.50 mg L-1 dose of B a drastic drop in the dry plant mass was observed, which reached zero index at the highest boron dose due to phytotoxicity

O CURRÍCULO EM CONTEXTO PÓS-ESTRUTURAL

No presente artigo objetivamos apresentar o campo curricular em uma leitura pós-estrutural pós-fundacional, sob as lentes da Teoria do Discurso (TD) como proposta por Laclau e Mouffe. Por um caminho de revisão bibliográfica, dentro de uma pesquisa qualitativa, propomos uma apresentação perspectivada tanto da corrente de pensamento quanto da teoria empregada com fins de situar o currículo nessas bases. Neste exercício de revisão, lemos duas influentes obras sobre o Currículo, demonstrando como a perspectiva discursiva amplia as possibilidades de entendimento do elemento curricular em seus diferentes arranjos no tempo. Finalmente, concluímos que o currículo é discurso que significa a realidade e que essa significação está em constante disputa pela hegemonização do significado

Filosofia e Ciências Humanas: uma leitura discursiva da BNCC

In this work, we approached the Discourse Theory of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe to interpret, in a discursive way, the public policy document established by the Brazilian Ministry of Education, which formed the National Common Curriculum Base. Our goal was to analyze the position of the Philosophy in the field of Human Sciences through a discursive reading of BNCC. Therefore, we identify the meanings that the text of the Common Base employs both Philosophy and to Human sciences, relating such meanings to reach analytical phase. Thus, the methodology focused on a document analysis of the BNCC and related documents. The results achieved demonstrate that there is a movement of devaluation of the Humanities and almost a total silencing of Philosophy in the text of the Common Base.Neste trabalho, aportamo-nos na Teoria do Discurso de Ernesto Laclau e Chantal Mouffe para interpretar, de maneira discursiva, o documento de política pública instituído pelo Ministério da Educação do Brasil, que conformou a Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC). Nosso objetivo foi analisar a posição da Filosofia no campo das Ciências Humanas, por meio de uma leitura discursiva da BNCC. Para tanto, identificamos os significados que o texto da Base Comum emprega tanto à Filosofia quanto às Ciências Humanas, relacionando tais significados para chegarmos à fase analítica. Com isso, a metodologia centrou-se em uma análise documental da BNCC e de documentos correlatos. Os resultados alcançados demonstram que existe um movimento de desvalorização das Humanas, e quase um total silenciamento da Filosofia no texto da Base Comum

Proposta de sistema de baixo custo para o monitoramento de ovinos

A ovinocultura é uma atividade de grande importância econômica no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (RS), que até recentemente possuía o maior rebanho no Brasil. Pesquisas mostraram que o principal gargalo na produção ovina é a perda de cordeiros logo após o parto, oscilando entre 15 a 40%. Neste trabalho, é feita uma análise das tecnologias de computação vestível disponíveis no mercado. Desempenho do melão rendilhado em função da profundidade de gotejo e utilização de mulching

The modern techniques of water supply through irrigation can substantially reduce water waste, which contributes to attend the enlarging water demand. The objective of this work was to study the influence of subsurface drip irrigation and mulching over melon yield and quality characteristics, in a sandy soil (Typic Hapludox). The experimental design was blocks at random, with four replications. Treatments were displayed in a 2 x 3 factorial (with and without mulching x surface and 0.20 and 0.40 depth subsurface drip irrigation). Mulching using double-sided silver/black film increased fruit average mass, plant production, yield, daily growth rate for plant height and crown diameter, fruit distal diameter, and pulp thickness. The subsurface drip irrigation at 0.20 m depth resulted in larger fruit average mass, plant production, and yield than surface and 0.40 m depth drip irrigation.As atuais técnicas de aplicação de água pelos sistemas de irrigação podem reduzir substancialmente os desperdícios de água, o que contribui para atender a crescente demanda por esse recurso natural. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar aspectos produtivos e de qualidade de frutos de melão rendilhado em sistema de gotejo subterrâneo e cobertura plástica (mulching), em solo arenoso (Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo). O delineamento adotado foi em blocos casualizados, com quatro blocos, com o arranjo dos tratamentos em fatorial 2 x 3 (com e sem mulching x gotejo superficial e subsuperficial, a 0,20 e 0,40 m de profundidade). O mulching utilizando filme dupla-face prateado/preto incrementou a massa média de fruto, a produção por planta, a produtividade, a taxa de crescimento diário da altura de planta e do diâmetro do colo da planta, o diâmetro longitudinal do fruto e a espessura de polpa. Rural tourism: An analysis througt the assumptions of the new institutional economy

The study aims to analyze the decision-making of the agents through the theoretical assumptions of the New Institutional Economics (NIE), and the results in transaction costs of rural property activity added tourism to its agricultural business. The methodology adopted was the exploratory and explanatory study. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and the analysis was qualitative. Finally, we know that we still need to find appropriate tools to reduce the asymmetry of information and allow a wider field of view to making agents\u27 decisions

Plant litter dynamics in the forest-stream interface: Precipitation is a major control across tropical biomes

Riparian plant litter is a major energy source for forested streams across the world and its decomposition has repercussions on nutrient cycling, food webs and ecosystem functioning. However, we know little about plant litter dynamics in tropical streams, even though the tropics occupy 40% of the Earth's land surface. Here we investigated spatial and temporal (along a year cycle) patterns of litter inputs and storage in multiple streams of three tropical biomes in Brazil (Atlantic forest, Amazon forest and Cerrado savanna), predicting major differences among biomes in relation to temperature and precipitation regimes. Precipitation explained most of litter inputs and storage, which were generally higher in more humid biomes (litterfall: 384, 422 and 308 g m-2 y-1, storage: 55, 113 and 38 g m-2, on average in Atlantic forest, Amazon and Cerrado, respectively). Temporal dynamics varied across biomes in relation to precipitation and temperature, with uniform litter inputs but seasonal storage in Atlantic forest streams, seasonal inputs in Amazon and Cerrado streams, and aseasonal storage in Amazon streams. Our findings suggest that litter dynamics vary greatly within the tropics, but point to the major role of precipitation, which contrasts with the main influence of temperature in temperate areas. © 2017 The Author(s)

Margarita de Sossa, Sixteenth-Century Puebla de los Ángeles, New Spain (Mexico)

Margarita de Sossa’s freedom journey was defiant and entrepreneurial. In her early twenties, still enslaved in Portugal, she took possession of her body; after refusing to endure her owner’s sexual demands, he sold her, and she was transported to Mexico. There, she purchased her freedom with money earned as a healer and then conducted an enviable business as an innkeeper. Sossa’s biography provides striking insights into how she conceptualized freedom in terms that included – but was not limited to – legal manumission. Her transatlantic biography offers a rare insight into the life of a free black woman (and former slave) in late sixteenth-century Puebla, who sought to establish various degrees of freedom for herself. Whether she was refusing to acquiesce to an abusive owner, embracing entrepreneurship, marrying, purchasing her own slave property, or later using the courts to petition for divorce. Sossa continued to advocate on her own behalf. Her biography shows that obtaining legal manumission was not always equivalent to independence and autonomy, particularly if married to an abusive husband, or if financial successes inspired the envy of neighbors
