Δύο ανώνυμοι ζωγράφοι του κύκλου του Ανδρέα Παβία χρησιμοποίησαν σε δύο εικόνες, που χρονολογούνται στις αρχές του 16ου αιώνα (η μία βρίσκεται στο Muséed’Artetd’Histoire της Γενεύης, η δεύτερη στο Βυζαντινό και Χριστιανικό Μουσείο της Αθήνας), χαρακτικά του IsrahelvanMeckenem και του Dürer. Οι εικόνες αυτές εντάσσονται στην ιταλοβυζαντινή παράδοση της κρητικής ζωγραφικής και μαρτυρούν τη σχέση των κρητών ζωγράφων, είτε αυτοί δούλευαν στην Κρήτη είτε στην Ιταλία, με χαρακτικά που μπορούσαν εύκολα να προμηθευτούν στη ΒενετίαPrints by Israhel van Meckenem and Dürer were used by two anonymous painters of the circle of Andreas Pavias in two icons dated to the early sixteenth century (one in the Musée d’ Art et d’ Histoire, Geneva, the other in the Byzantine and Christian Museum, Athens). These icons are added to the Italo-Byzantine tradition of Crete and to works that attest to the relation of Cretan painters, whether working in Crete or in Italy, with engravings that could be obtained easily in Venice

Une enseigne de chirurgien à Chype au XVIe siècle

Η τετράγωνη αμφιπρόσωπη εικόνα (40×41,5×4 εκ.), από την εκκλησία της Παναγίας στην Κλήρου (Ιερά Μητρόπολις Ταμασού και Ορεινής) παρουσιάζει στις δύο όψεις την ίδια ακριβώς εικονογραφία σε δύο ίσα οριζόντια διάχωρα: στο πάνω την Παναγία Οδηγήτρια με τους αγίους Αναργύρους, Κοσμά και Δαμιανό, στο κάτω, δύο χειρουργούς που παρέχουν φροντίδα ο ένας σε έναν άνδρα αριστερά και ο δεύτερος σε μια γυναίκα δεξιά. Η εικονογράφηση, καθώς και το τετράγωνο σχήμα της, από το οποίο χάθηκε το φαρδύ πλαίσιο, υποδεικνύουν πινακίδα χειρουργού-φαρμακοποιού, όπως τις γνωρίζουμε και σε πόλεις στη Δύση.The object of this study is the bilateral square icon (40×41,5×4 cm), once in the church of Panagia in the village of Klirou (Holy Metropolis of Tamasos and Oreini), which presents on both sides exactly the same iconography. Each side is divided horizontally in two registers: on the upper register the image of the Virgin Hodigitria is shown between Saints Cosmas and Damianos, on the lower one two surgeons attend (separately) a man on the left and a woman on the right. This unusual and unique object (in iconography and shape) can be identified as a surgeon’s practice sign, as we know them also in Western European cities
