    Planeringsteoretiska motsättningar- Motsättningar mellan nyliberal och kommunikativ planering i Malmös samhällsplanering

    I dagens postindustriella och globaliserade planering kan man i litteratur urskilja två dominerande planeringsteorier vilka står i kontrast mot varandra, nyliberal respektive kommunikativ planeringsteori. Den nyliberala planeringsteorin utgår från en stark tro på den fria marknaden där ett decentraliserat och effektivt styre skapar planerade lösningar som gagnar den ekonomiska tillväxten, där välståndet sedan anses sipprar ner för att främja hela samhället. Den kommunikativa planeringsteorin syftar istället på att nå planerade lösningar i konsensus genom dialog mellan planerare, aktörer och medborgare. De två teorierna har i uppsatsens första del ställts mot varandra genom en litteraturstudie för att belysa dess olikheter och motsättningar. Därefter har motsättningarna studerats i praktiken där Malmö valts ut som uppsatsens fallstudie. Genom användande av sekundär litteratur, innehållsanalys och kvantitativ kartframställning har tillämpandet av de två teorierna i stadens samhällsplanering undersökts för att sedan diskutera hur de motsätter varandra. Analysen av Malmö vittnar om en stad där nyliberal planeringsteori intagit en dominerande ställning kontinuerligt sedan 1990, där kommunikativa metoder anpassas och tillämpas i de sfärer som inte kolliderar med stadens allt mer nyliberaliserade ideal

    Sexual dysfunction in women with type 1 diabetes in Norway: A qualitative study of women’s experiences

    Aim The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of sexual health and sexual challenges in women with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Methods We used a qualitative study design and conducted semistructured interviews with 15 women (26–57 years) with T1D. The participants were recruited based on their Female Sexual Function Index score that indicated sexual dysfunction. We used thematic analysis to analyse the data. Results We generated three themes, each with subthemes: (1) Diabetes is present at all times (subthemes: having diabetes is onerous, and diabetes affects the relationship with my partner); (2) various challenges related to sexual health (subthemes: experiencing reduced sexual desire and physical challenges, and challenges related to sexual health affect the relationship with my partner); and (3) diabetes may affect sexual function (subthemes: glucose levels and technical devices may have an impact on sexual function, and sexual health should be addressed in diabetes follow-up). Conclusions The women with T1D experienced different challenges related to their sexual health. The most common were reduced sexual desire, vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse. The study emphasizes the importance of addressing sexual health in diabetes follow-up to provide comprehensive health services to people with diabetes.publishedVersio

    Coordinated responses of natural anticoagulants to allogeneic stem cell transplantation and acute GVHD - A longitudinal study

    Background Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) enhances coagulation via endothelial perturbation and inflammation. Role of natural anticoagulants in interactions between coagulation and inflammation as well as in acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) are not well known. The purpose of this study was to define changes in natural anticoagulants over time in association with GVHD. Patients and methods This prospective study included 30 patients who received grafts from siblings (n = 19) or unrelated donors (n = 11). Eight patients developed GVHD. Standard clinical assays were applied to measure natural anticoagulants, represented by protein C (PC), antithrombin (AT), protein S (PS), complex of activated PC with its inhibitor (APC-PCI) and by markers of endothelial activation: Factor VIII coagulant activity (FVIII: C) and soluble thrombomodulin (s-TM) at 6-8 time points over three months. Results Overall, PC, AT and FVIII: C increased in parallel after engraftment. Significant correlations between PC and FVIII: C (r = 0.64-0.82, p Conclusion The coordinated activation of natural anticoagulants in our longitudinal study indicates the sustained ability of adaptation to endothelial and inflammatory activation during allogenic SCT treatment. The suboptimal control of coagulation by natural anticoagulants at early stage of SCT may contribute to onset of GVHD.Peer reviewe

    Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor SF10A (TNFRSF10A) SNPs Correlate With Corticosteroid Response in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

    Background Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a rare and severe X-linked muscular dystrophy in which the standard of care with variable outcome, also due to different drug response, is chronic off-label treatment with corticosteroids (CS). In order to search for SNP biomarkers for corticosteroid responsiveness, we genotyped variants across 205 DMD-related genes in patients with differential response to steroid treatment. Methods and Findings We enrolled a total of 228 DMD patients with identified dystrophin mutations, 78 of these patients have been under corticosteroid treatment for at least 5 years. DMD patients were defined as high responders (HR) if they had maintained the ability to walk after 15 years of age and low responders (LR) for those who had lost ambulation before the age of 10 despite corticosteroid therapy. Based on interactome mapping, we prioritized 205 genes and sequenced them in 21 DMD patients (discovery cohort or DiC = 21). We identified 43 SNPs that discriminate between HR and LR. Discriminant Analysis of Principal Components (DAPC) prioritized 2 response-associated SNPs in theTNFRSF10Agene. Validation of this genotype was done in two additional larger cohorts composed of 46 DMD patients on corticosteroid therapy (validation cohorts or VaC1), and 150 non ambulant DMD patients and never treated with corticosteroids (VaC2). SNP analysis in all validation cohorts (N= 207) showed that the CT haplotype is significantly associated with HR DMDs confirming the discovery results. Conclusion We have shown that TNFRSF10A CT haplotype correlates with corticosteroid response in DMD patients and propose it as an exploratory CS response biomarker

    Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements
