Thermodynamics of the superconducting state in Calcium at 200 GPa
The thermodynamic parameters of the superconducting state in Calcium under
the pressure at 200 GPa were calculated. The Coulomb pseudopotential values
() from 0.1 to 0.3 were taken into consideration. It has been
shown, that the specific heat's jump at the critical temperature and the
thermodynamic critical field near zero Kelvin strongly decrease with
. The dimensionless ratios and
significantly differ from the predictions based on the BCS model. In
particular, decreases from 2.64 to 1.97 with the Coulomb
pseudopotential; whereas increases from 0.140 to 0.157. The numerical
results have been supplemented by the analytical approach.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure
Dependence of the Superconducting Transition Temperature of MgB2 on Pressure to 20 GPa
The dependence of Tc on nearly hydrostatic pressure has been measured for an
isotopically pure (11B) MgB2 sample in a helium-loaded diamond-anvil-cell to
nearly 20 GPa. Tc decreases monotonically with pressure from 39.1 K at ambient
pressure to 20.9 K at 19.2 GPa. The initial dependence is the same as that
obtained earlier (dTc/dP = -1.11(2) K/GPa) on the same sample in a He-gas
apparatus to 0.7 GPa. The observed pressure dependence Tc(P) to 20 GPa can be
readily described in terms of simple lattice stiffening within standard
phonon-mediated BCS superconductivity.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure
Factorization and the Dressing Method for the Gel'fand-Dikii Hierarch
The isospectral flows of an order linear scalar differential
operator under the hypothesis that it possess a Baker-Akhiezer function
were originally investigated by Segal and Wilson from the point of view of
infinite dimensional Grassmanians, and the reduction of the KP hierarchy to the
Gel'fand-Dikii hierarchy. The associated first order systems and their formal
asymptotic solutions have a rich Lie algebraic structure which was investigated
by Drinfeld and Sokolov. We investigate the matrix Riemann-Hilbert
factorizations for these systems, and show that different factorizations lead
respectively to the potential, modified, and ordinary Gel'fand-Dikii flows. Lie
algebra decompositions (the Adler-Kostant-Symes method) are obtained for the
modified and potential flows. For the appropriate factorization for the
Gel'fand-Dikii flows is not a group factorization, as would be expected; yet a
modification of the dressing method still works.
A direct proof, based on a Fredholm determinant associated with the
factorization problem, is given that the potentials are meromorphic in and
in the time variables. Potentials with Baker-Akhiezer functions include the
multisoliton and rational solutions, as well as potentials in the scattering
class with compactly supported scattering data. The latter are dense in the
scattering class
Relaxation Effects in the Transition Temperature of Superconducting HgBa2CuO4+delta
In previous studies on a number of under- and overdoped high temperature
superconductors, including YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-y} and Tl_{2}Ba_{2}CuO_{6+\delta},
the transition temperature T_c has been found to change with time in a manner
which depends on the sample's detailed temperature and pressure history. This
relaxation behavior in T_c is believed to originate from rearrangements within
the oxygen sublattice. In the present high-pressure studies on
HgBa_{2}CuO_{4+\delta} to 0.8 GPa we find clear evidence for weak relaxation
effects in strongly under- and overdoped samples () with
an activation energy . For overdoped
HgBa_{2}CuO_{4+\delta} E_{A} increases under pressure more rapidly than
previously observed for YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{6.41}, yielding an activation volume of
+11 \pm 5 cm^{3}; the dependence of T_c on pressure is markedly nonlinear, an
anomalous result for high-T_c superconductors in the present pressure range,
giving evidence for a change in the electronic and/or structural properties
near 0.4 GPa
Interplay among critical temperature, hole content, and pressure in the cuprate superconductors
Within a BCS-type mean-field approach to the extended Hubbard model, a
nontrivial dependence of T_c on the hole content per unit CuO_2 is recovered,
in good agreement with the celebrated non-monotonic universal behaviour at
normal pressure. Evaluation of T_c at higher pressures is then made possible by
the introduction of an explicit dependence of the tight-binding band and of the
carrier concentration on pressure P. Comparison with the known experimental
data for underdoped Bi2212 allows to single out an `intrinsic' contribution to
d T_c / d P from that due to the carrier concentration, and provides a
remarkable estimate of the dependence of the inter-site coupling strength on

Electron transport and energy relaxation in dilute magnetic alloys
We consider the effect of the RKKY interaction between magnetic impurities on
the electron relaxation rates in a normal metal. The interplay between the RKKY
interaction and the Kondo effect may result in a non-monotonic temperature
dependence of the electron momentum relaxation rate, which determines the Drude
conductivity. The electron phase relaxation rate, which determines the
magnitude of the weak localization correction to the resistivity, is also a
non-monotonic function of temperature. For this function, we find the
dependence of the position of its maximum on the concentration of magnetic
impurities. We also relate the electron energy relaxation rate to the
excitation spectrum of the system of magnetic impurities. The energy relaxation
determines the distribution function for the out-of-equilibrium electrons.
Measurement of the electron distribution function thus may provide information
about the excitations in the spin glass phase.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figure

Study of CP violation in Dalitz-plot analyses of B0 --> K+K-KS, B+ --> K+K-K+, and B+ --> KSKSK+
We perform amplitude analyses of the decays , , and , and measure CP-violating
parameters and partial branching fractions. The results are based on a data
sample of approximately decays, collected with the
BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy factory at the SLAC National
Accelerator Laboratory. For , we find a direct CP asymmetry
in of , which differs
from zero by . For , we measure the
CP-violating phase .
For , we measure an overall direct CP asymmetry of
. We also perform an angular-moment analysis of
the three channels, and determine that the state can be described
well by the sum of the resonances , , and

Search for a W' boson decaying to a bottom quark and a top quark in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV
Results are presented from a search for a W' boson using a dataset
corresponding to 5.0 inverse femtobarns of integrated luminosity collected
during 2011 by the CMS experiment at the LHC in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV.
The W' boson is modeled as a heavy W boson, but different scenarios for the
couplings to fermions are considered, involving both left-handed and
right-handed chiral projections of the fermions, as well as an arbitrary
mixture of the two. The search is performed in the decay channel W' to t b,
leading to a final state signature with a single lepton (e, mu), missing
transverse energy, and jets, at least one of which is tagged as a b-jet. A W'
boson that couples to fermions with the same coupling constant as the W, but to
the right-handed rather than left-handed chiral projections, is excluded for
masses below 1.85 TeV at the 95% confidence level. For the first time using LHC
data, constraints on the W' gauge coupling for a set of left- and right-handed
coupling combinations have been placed. These results represent a significant
