    Proton decoupling and recoupling under double-nutation irradiation in solid-state NMR.

    The effect of (1)H decoupling in magic-angle spinning solid-state NMR is studied under radiofrequency irradiation causing simultaneous nutations around a pair of orthogonal axes. Double-nutation with an arbitrary pair of nutation frequencies is implemented through modulation of the amplitude, phase, and frequency of the transmitting pulses. Similarity and difference of double-nutation decoupling and two-pulse phase-modulation decoupling schemes [A. E. Bennett, C. M. Rienstra, M. Auger, K. V. Lakshmi, and R. G. Griffin, J. Chem. Phys. 103, 6951-6958 (1995) and I. Scholz, P. Hodgkinson, B. H. Meier, and M. Ernst, J. Chem. Phys. 130, 114510 (2009)] are discussed. The structure of recoupling bands caused by interference of the (1)H spin nutation with sample spinning is studied by both experiments and numerical simulations

    A Method for Predicting Three-Dimensional Flow Characteristics during the Intake Process in Four-Stroke Cycle Internal Combustion Engines

    In this paper, a practical method of analysis is described for numerically predicting the three-dimensional flow characteristics such as swirl during the intake process in four-stroke cycle engines. The method is based on the one-dimensional calculation of the gas exchanging process and on the three-dimensional calculation of the gas flow in each region of the intake port and cylinder. The effect of the intake port configuration on the induction swirl intensity and volumetric efficiency can be examined efficiently by this method. Some calculations have been carried out for the case where the configuration of a helical port has been changed systematically. The feasibility has been shown through simulating the variation of the flow characteristics at the intake valve outlet owing to the change of the intake port configuration

    Anomalous momentum dependence of the multiband electronic structure of FeSe_1-xTe_x superconductors induced by atomic disorder

    When periodicity of crystal is disturbed by atomic disorder, its electronic state becomes inhomogeneous and band dispersion is obscured. In case of Fe-based superconductors, disorder of chalcogen/pnictogen height causes disorder of Fe 3d level splitting. Here, we report an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study on FeSe_1-xTe_x with the chalcogen height disorder, showing that the disorder affects the Fe 3d band dispersions in an orbital-selective way instead of simple obscuring effect. The reverse of the Fe 3d level splitting due to the chalcogen height difference causes the splitting of the hole band with Fe 3d x^2-y^2 character around the Gamma point.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
