    Facilitadores y flujos de aprendizaje como agentes dinamizadores en la gestión del capital intelectual y la performance corporativa

    El propósito fundamental de esta investigación es explorar hasta qué punto los componentes del capital intelectual establecen relaciones con los facilitadores para la creación de conocimiento, también con los flujos de aprendizaje feedback y feedforward, y cómo pueden estos, a su vez, influir en la performance de la organización. Para la consecución de este objetivo hemos estructurado este trabajo en tres grandes bloques. El primero de ellos incluye los fundamentos teóricos y ofrece una revisión de la investigación previa y de los conceptos relevantes de este trabajo. Está estructurado en tres capítulos: en el primero se realiza una aproximación del capital intelectual en el marco de la Teoría de Recursos y Capacidades; el segundo presenta una descripción de las herramientas del capital intelectual y se realiza una propuesta de síntesis de las escuelas más representativas de la literatura; y en el tercero se aborda el concepto de conocimiento, facilitadores y aprendizaje organizativo y su relación con el capital intelectual y con la performance de la organización. Supone el núcleo fundamental de esta investigación, se muestra ya el modelo teórico global de la investigación con todas las relaciones. Para terminar, se formulan las hipótesis a contrastar en la parte empírica. El segundo bloque comprende la metodología de la investigación empírica, presenta el estudio de naturaleza cuantitativa a partir de una muestra de empresas españolas del sector de la biotecnología. Se muestran los resultados de la investigación y el contraste de las hipótesis formuladas a partir del marco teórico y de los datos recogidos mediante el cuestionario en ambiente web. Por último el bloque tres, se señalan las principales conclusiones, las aportaciones, las limitaciones y las futuras líneas de investigación.The main purpose of this research is looking for the extent where intellectual capital components set a connection with enablers to knowledge creation, as well as flows learning feedback and feedforward, and how they affect the performance of the organization. In order to achieve this goal, we have structured this study into three important parts. The first block, includes the theoretical basis and provides a review of the investigation done previously, besides the top topics in the study. It has been structured in three different chapters: firstly, it has been made an approximation of intellectual capital within the framework of Means and Skills; secondly it shows a tool description of the intellectual capital and makes a synthesis proposal about the most representative literature schools, thirdly, it addresses the knowledge, enablers and organizational learning concepts as well as its connection with the intellectual capital and the organization’s performance. It assumes the heart of the research, introduces the theoretical global model of the investigation and its links. Lastly, it has been drawn up the hypothesis in contrast of the empirical part. The second block develops the empirical research methodology and shows the quantitative nature study from a sample of Spanish companies from the biotechnology area. It also shows the final results of the research and the contrast of the hypothesis drawn up from the theoretical framework and also from the information gathered through the questions on the web.     200 p.This book presents some of the accumulated knowledge at the Faculty of Psychology as a product of the coordinated effort of a group of researchers, teachers, and students from the Universidad Católica de Colombia and partner institutions. The studies are organized around an agenda of problems, interests, concerns, and needs within the seven research and curricular integration lines in psychology: behavioral neurosciences; health and addiction clinic; educational psychology; legal psychology and criminology; organizational psychology; social, political, and community psychology; and research methods in behavioral sciences. Regarding methodology, this document provides examples of micro-ethnographies, impact evaluations of educational programs, characterizations of psychosocial dynamics, ex post facto interventions, designs and evaluations of psychological measurement instruments, as well as pre-experimental studies. Throughout the chapters, the following topics are addressed: psychological constructs and social issues such as political participation, neurofeedback, homicide, domestic violence, and even community awareness, in addition to applications of the Rasch model of the Item Response Theory to evaluate the technical quality of psychological assessment instruments in the educational, organizational, and legal spheres.     Effect of exploitation and exploration on the innovative as outcomes in entrepreneurial firms

    [EN] The main aim of this study is to establish the effect of the Exploitation and Exploration; and the influence of these learning flows on the Innovative Outcome (IO). The Innovative Outcome refers to new products, services, processes (or improvements) that the organization has obtained as a result of an innovative process. For this purpose, a relationship model is defined, which is empirically contrasted, and can explains and predicts the cyclical dynamization of learning flows on innovative outcome in knowledge intensive firms. The quantitative test for this model use the data from entrepreneurial firms biotechnology sector. The statistical analysis applies a method based on variance using Partial Least Squares (PLS). Research results confirm the hypotheses, that is, they show a positive dynamic effect between the Exploration and the Innovative as outcomes.     TAT-Mediated Transduction of MafA Protein In Utero Results in Enhanced Pancreatic Insulin Expression and Changes in Islet Morphology

    Alongside Pdx1 and Beta2/NeuroD, the transcription factor MafA has been shown to be instrumental in the maintenance of the beta cell phenotype. Indeed, a combination of MafA, Pdx1 and Ngn3 (an upstream regulator of Beta2/NeuroD) was recently reported to lead to the effective reprogramming of acinar cells into insulin-producing beta cells. These experiments set the stage for the development of new strategies to address the impairment of glycemic control in diabetic patients. However, the clinical applicability of reprogramming in this context is deemed to be poor due to the need to use viral vehicles for the delivery of the above factors. Here we describe a recombinant transducible version of the MafA protein (TAT-MafA) that penetrates across cell membranes with an efficiency of 100% and binds to the insulin promoter in vitro. When injected in utero into living mouse embryos, TAT-MafA significantly up-regulates target genes and induces enhanced insulin production as well as cytoarchitectural changes consistent with faster islet maturation. As the latest addition to our armamentarium of transducible proteins (which already includes Pdx1 and Ngn3), the purification and characterization of a functional TAT-MafA protein opens the door to prospective therapeutic uses that circumvent the use of viral delivery. To our knowledge, this is also the first report on the use of protein transduction in utero

    Mycotoxins are produced mainly by the mycelial structure of filamentous fungi, or more specifically, molds. These secondary metabolites are synthesized during the end of the exponential growth phase and appear to have no biochemical significance in fungal growth and development. The contamination of foods and feeds with mycotoxins is a significant problem for the adverse effects on humans, animals, and crops that result in illnesses and economic losses. The toxic effect of the ingestion of mycotoxins in humans and animals depends on a number of factors including intake levels, duration of exposure, toxin species, mechanisms of action, metabolism, and defense mechanisms. In general, the consumption of contaminated food and feed with mycotoxin induces to neurotoxic, immunosuppressive, teratogenic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic effect in humans and/or animals. The most significant mycotoxins in terms of public health and agronomic perspective include the aflatoxins, ochratoxin A (OTA), trichothecenes, fumonisins, patulin, and the ergot alkaloids. Due to the detrimental effects of these mycotoxins, several strategies have been developed in order to reduce the risk of exposure. These include the degradation, destruction, inactivation or removal of mycotoxins through chemical, physical and biological methods. However, the results obtained with these methods have not been optimal, because they may change the organoleptic characteristics and nutritional values of food. Another alternative strategy to prevent or reduce the toxic effects of mycotoxins is by applying antimutagenic agents. These substances act according to several extra- or intracellular mechanisms, their main goal being to avoid the interaction of mycotoxins with DNA; as a consequence of their action, these agents would inhibit mutagenesis and carcinogenesis. This article reviews the main strategies used to control AFB1 and ochratoxin A and contains an analysis of some antigenotoxic substances that reduce the DNA damage caused by these mycotoxins
