Evaluating cost taxonomies for information systems management
The consideration of costs, benefits and risks underpin many Information System (IS) evaluation decisions. Yet, vendors
and project-champions alike tend to identify and focus much of their effort on the benefits achievable from the
adoption of new technology, as it is often not in the interest of key stakeholders to spend too much time considering
the wider cost and risk implications of enterprise-wide technology adoptions. In identifying a void in the literature, the
authors of the paper present a critical analysis of IS-cost taxonomies. In doing so, the authors establish that such cost
taxonomies tend to be esoteric and difficult to operationalize, as they lack specifics in detail. Therefore, in developing a
deeper understanding of IS-related costs, the authors position the need to identify, control and reduce IS-related costs
within the information systems evaluation domain, through culminating and then synthesizing the literature into a
frame of reference that supports the evaluation of information systems through a deeper understanding of IS-cost taxonomies.
The paper then concludes by emphasizing that the total costs associated with IS-adoption can only be determined
after having considered the multi-faceted dimensions of information system investments
Chaos in a generalized Lorenz system
A three-component dynamic system with influence of pumping and nonlinear
dissipation describing a quantum cavity electrodynamic device is studied.
Different dynamical regimes are investigated in terms of divergent trajectories
approaches and fractal statistics. It has been shown, that in such a system
stable and unstable dissipative structures type of limit cycles can be formed
with variation of pumping and nonlinear dissipation rate. Transitions to
chaotic regime and the corresponding chaotic attractor are studied in details
Particle physics models of inflation
Inflation models are compared with observation on the assumption that the
curvature perturbation is generated from the vacuum fluctuation of the inflaton
field. The focus is on single-field models with canonical kinetic terms,
classified as small- medium- and large-field according to the variation of the
inflaton field while cosmological scales leave the horizon. Small-field models
are constructed according to the usual paradigm for beyond Standard Model

Compton scattering beyond the impulse approximation
We treat the non-relativistic Compton scattering process in which an incoming
photon scatters from an N-electron many-body state to yield an outgoing photon
and a recoil electron, without invoking the commonly used frameworks of either
the impulse approximation (IA) or the independent particle model (IPM). An
expression for the associated triple differential scattering cross section is
obtained in terms of Dyson orbitals, which give the overlap amplitudes between
the N-electron initial state and the (N-1) electron singly ionized quantum
states of the target. We show how in the high energy transfer regime, one can
recover from our general formalism the standard IA based formula for the cross
section which involves the ground state electron momentum density (EMD) of the
initial state. Our formalism will permit the analysis and interpretation of
electronic transitions in correlated electron systems via inelastic x-ray
scattering (IXS) spectroscopy beyond the constraints of the IA and the IPM.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur
CMB Imprints of a Pre-Inflationary Climbing Phase
We discuss the implications for cosmic microwave background (CMB)
observables, of a class of pre-inflationary dynamics suggested by string models
where SUSY is broken due to the presence of D-branes and orientifolds
preserving incompatible portions of it. In these models the would-be inflaton
is forced to emerge from the initial singularity climbing up a mild exponential
potential, until it bounces against a steep exponential potential of "brane
SUSY breaking" scenarios, and as a result the ensuing descent gives rise to an
inflationary epoch that begins when the system is still well off its eventual
attractor. If a pre-inflationary climbing phase of this type had occurred
within 6-7 e-folds of the horizon exit for the largest observable wavelengths,
displacement off the attractor and initial-state effects would conspire to
suppress power in the primordial scalar spectrum, enhancing it in the tensor
spectrum and typically superposing oscillations on both. We investigate these
imprints on CMB observables over a range of parameters, examine their
statistical significance, and provide a semi-analytic rationale for our
results. It is tempting to ascribe at least part of the large-angle anomalies
in the CMB to pre-inflationary dynamics of this type.Comment: 38 pages, LaTeX, 11 eps figures, references added, matches version to

Parity nonconservation in deuteron photoreactions
We calculate the asymmetries in parity nonconserving deuteron
photodisintegration due to circularly polarized photons gamma+d to n+p with the
photon laboratory energy ranging from the threshold up to 10 MeV and the
radiative capture of thermal polarized neutrons by protons n+p to gamma+d. We
use the leading order electromagnetic Hamiltonian neglecting the smaller
nuclear exchange currents. Comparative calculations are done by using the
Reid93 and Argonne v18 potentials for the strong interaction and the DDH and
FCDH "best" values for the weak couplings in a weak one-meson exchange
potential. A weak NDelta transition potential is used to incorporate also the
Delta(1232)-isobar excitation in the coupled-channels formalism.Comment: 14 pages, 13 figures (18 eps files), LaTeX2
Charged lepton electric dipole moments with the localized leptons and the new Higgs doublet in the two Higgs doublet model
We study the lepton electric dipole moments in the split fermion scenario, in
the two Higgs doublet model, where the new Higgs scalars are localized around
the origin in the extra dimension, with the help of the localizer field. We
observe that the numerical value of the electron (muon, tau) electric dipole
moment is at the order of the magnitude of 10^{-31} (10^{-24}, 10^{-22}) (e-cm)
and this quantity is sensitive the new Higgs localization in the extra
dimension.Comment: 20 pages, 7 figure
Measurement of the cross section for isolated-photon plus jet production in pp collisions at âs=13 TeV using the ATLAS detector
The dynamics of isolated-photon production in association with a jet in protonâproton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are studied with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using a dataset with an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fbâ1. Photons are required to have transverse energies above 125 GeV. Jets are identified using the anti- algorithm with radius parameter and required to have transverse momenta above 100 GeV. Measurements of isolated-photon plus jet cross sections are presented as functions of the leading-photon transverse energy, the leading-jet transverse momentum, the azimuthal angular separation between the photon and the jet, the photonâjet invariant mass and the scattering angle in the photonâjet centre-of-mass system. Tree-level plus parton-shower predictions from Sherpa and Pythia as well as next-to-leading-order QCD predictions from Jetphox and Sherpa are compared to the measurements
