O melhor tratamento, considerando ambas as culturas, foi o C.In this study, the following treatments of handling precocious maize straw, during the time of dry season common bean planting were compared in Leopoldina, MC, Brazil: a) maize planta erect: b) 'breaking over" maize planta after bean seeding; c) maize planta cut and piled in their own rows after bean seeding; d) maize plants cut in pieces 30 to 40cm long and scattered on the plot alter bean seeding; e) maize taken off from the plot, prepared with plow and harrow, before bean seeding. In treatment c, d, and e maize ears were harvested before bean planting, whereas in a and b both crops were harvested when the beans were mature. The delay in maize harvest, in treatments a and b, permitted a greater insect attack on the kemels. The best treatment, considering both crops, was c

Two trials were undertaken for the purpose of evaluating leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit.) as a green manure in a Dark-Red Latosol under "cerrado" vegetation in the municipality of Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil. In the first trial, the green manure was seeded with spacing of 2, 3, 4 and 5 meters between rows, with 30 seeds/m. An analysis of growth showed an increase in the production of dry matter/ha and in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium, per sample, as spacing decreased. In the second trial, beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were planted between the rows of leucena, after pruning of lateral shoots, leaving only the main stalk cut at a height of 1.5 m. Treatments consisted of the incorporation or non-incorporation of the leucena, combined with nitrogen (30 k/ha of N) or phosphorus (120 k/ha of P2O5) or nitrogen + phosphorus. The incorporation of leucena in the soil alone resulted in a production of beans equivalent to that of the treatments which received chemical fertilization.

Seven experiments were carried out in five municipalities of Minas Gerais in order to determine whether, by maintaining the maize population at 30.000 plants per hectare, the increase in maize row spacing from 1 to 2 m would benefit the associated cropping with beans. In two experiments, the bean crop received different levels of fertilization and, in five experiments, three bean cvs. were used. It was concluded that the increase in maize row spacing was not advantageous because it can decrease the maize and beans yields.

Destas, sete são consideradas pragas primarias: Eupseudosoma aberrans Schaus, 1905 e Eupseudosoma involuta Sepp, 1852 (Arctiidae), "Thyirrteina leucoceraea Rindge, 1961, Glena spp., e Oxydia veulia Cramer, 1779 (Geometridae); Nystalea nyseus Cramer, 1775 (Notodontidae); Sarsina violascens Herrich-Schaeffer, 1856 (Lymantriidae) e seis pragas sencundárias: Automeris illustris Walker, 1855 Automenis sp., Hyperchiria incisa Walker, 1855 e Hyfesia sp. (Satumiidae), Cosmosoma auge Linné, 1767 (Amatidae) e idalus affinis (Arctiidae).Five hundred and seven Lepidoptera species were collected associated with Eucalyptus plantations in Açailândia, Maranhão State, Brazil. From August 1990 to July 1991, once every two weeks, two light traps were set up to collect insects in an Euclyptus camaldulensis and Eucalyptus urophylla plantations in this region. Seven primary pests were captured: Eupseudosoma aberrane Schaus, 1905 and Eupseudosoma involuta Sepp, 1862, (Arctiidae); Glena spp., Oxydia vesulia Cramer, 1779, Thyrinteina leucoceraea Rindge, 1961 (Geometridae); Nystalea nyseus Cramer, 1775 (Notodontidae) and Sarsina violascens Herrich-Schaeffer, 1866 (Lymantriidae). Besides these species, six secondary pests were captured: Automeris illustris Walker, 1665, Automeris sp., Hyperchiria incisa and Hylesia sp. Risk portfolio on modern finance has become increasingly technical, requiring the use of sophisticated mathematical tools in both research and practice. Since companies cannot insure themselves completely against risk, as human incompetence in predicting the future precisely that written in Al-Quran surah Luqman verse 34, they have to manage it to yield an optimal portfolio. The objective here is to minimize the variance among all portfolios, or alternatively, to maximize expected return among all portfolios that has at least a certain expected return. Furthermore, this study focuses on optimizing risk portfolio so called Markowitz MVO (Mean-Variance Optimization). Some theoretical frameworks for analysis are arithmetic mean, geometric mean, variance, covariance, linear programming, and quadratic programming. Moreover, finding a minimum variance portfolio produces a convex quadratic programming, that is minimizing the objective function ðð¥with constraintsð ð 𥠥 ðandð´ð¥ = ð. The outcome of this research is the solution of optimal risk portofolio in some investments that could be finished smoothly using MATLAB R2007b software together with its graphic analysis

Search for heavy resonances decaying to two Higgs bosons in final states containing four b quarks

    Get PDF
A search is presented for narrow heavy resonances X decaying into pairs of Higgs bosons (H) in proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC at root s = 8 TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb(-1). The search considers HH resonances with masses between 1 and 3 TeV, having final states of two b quark pairs. Each Higgs boson is produced with large momentum, and the hadronization products of the pair of b quarks can usually be reconstructed as single large jets. The background from multijet and t (t) over bar events is significantly reduced by applying requirements related to the flavor of the jet, its mass, and its substructure. The signal would be identified as a peak on top of the dijet invariant mass spectrum of the remaining background events. No evidence is observed for such a signal. Upper limits obtained at 95 confidence level for the product of the production cross section and branching fraction sigma(gg -> X) B(X -> HH -> b (b) over barb (b) over bar) range from 10 to 1.5 fb for the mass of X from 1.15 to 2.0 TeV, significantly extending previous searches. For a warped extra dimension theory with amass scale Lambda(R) = 1 TeV, the data exclude radion scalar masses between 1.15 and 1.55 TeV

Measurement of nuclear modification factors of gamma(1S)), gamma(2S), and gamma(3S) mesons in PbPb collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV

The cross sections for ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) production in lead-lead (PbPb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV have been measured using the CMS detector at the LHC. The nuclear modification factors, RAA, derived from the PbPb-to-pp ratio of yields for each state, are studied as functions of meson rapidity and transverse momentum, as well as PbPb collision centrality. The yields of all three states are found to be significantly suppressed, and compatible with a sequential ordering of the suppression, RAA(ϒ(1S)) > RAA(ϒ(2S)) > RAA(ϒ(3S)). The suppression of ϒ(1S) is larger than that seen at √sNN = 2.76 TeV, although the two are compatible within uncertainties. The upper limit on the RAA of ϒ(3S) integrated over pT, rapidity and centrality is 0.096 at 95% confidence level, which is the strongest suppression observed for a quarkonium state in heavy ion collisions to date. © 2019 The Author(s).
