Wage differentials and their determinants in US tourism and tourism-associated industries
This paper examines variations in wages for tourism related industries in the US for the period 2004-2009. It critically assesses the extent to which tourism related activities conform to their low wage stereotype and finds this to be true in general but not universally. It then considers the possibility that wages in US tourism related industries can be explained by observable characteristics of these industries. Recent research has suggested that the use of wage data at the level of highly detailed occupations is an effective alternative to other ways of capturing underlying skill differences. In line with this literature data from the US Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) were used to provide this detail. The results strongly support the importance of difference between occupations in wages in understanding differences between industries. They also support the importance of a number of industry characteristics including profitability, multi-factor productivity and demand growth.
The paper also considers the relevance of an industry wage premium or discount for tourism related activities in the US over the same period. To assess this it estimates an industry wage model separately for five individual occupations across all industries which employ the occupation concerned. Within the small number of occupations covered the analysis find that workers in the two more highly paid occupations exhibit evidence of a tourism related discount but that workers in the three more lowly paid occupations exhibit a tourism related wage premium
Neutral top-pion and lepton flavor violating processes
In the context of topcolor-assisted techicolor(TC2) models, we study the
contributions of the neutral top-pion to the lepton flavor
violating(LFV) processes and .
We find that the present experimental bound on gives severe
constraints on the free parameters of models. Taking into account these
constraints, we consider the processes generated by
top-pion exchange at the tree-level and the one loop level, and obtain

Analytic properties of the Landau gauge gluon and quark propagators
We explore the analytic structure of the gluon and quark propagators of
Landau gauge QCD from numerical solutions of the coupled system of renormalized
Dyson--Schwinger equations and from fits to lattice data. We find sizable
negative norm contributions in the transverse gluon propagator indicating the
absence of the transverse gluon from the physical spectrum. A simple analytic
structure for the gluon propagator is proposed. For the quark propagator we
find evidence for a mass-like singularity on the real timelike momentum axis,
with a mass of 350 to 500 MeV. Within the employed Green's functions approach
we identify a crucial term in the quark-gluon vertex that leads to a positive
definite Schwinger function for the quark propagator.Comment: 42 pages, 16 figures, revtex; version to be published in Phys Rev
D* Production in Deep Inelastic Scattering at HERA
This paper presents measurements of D^{*\pm} production in deep inelastic
scattering from collisions between 27.5 GeV positrons and 820 GeV protons. The
data have been taken with the ZEUS detector at HERA. The decay channel
(+ c.c.) has been used in the study. The
cross section for inclusive D^{*\pm} production with

sections as functions of p_T(D^{*\pm}), and are
compared with next-to-leading order QCD calculations based on the photon-gluon
fusion production mechanism. After an extrapolation of the cross section to the
full kinematic region in p_T(D^{*\pm}) and (D^{*\pm}), the charm
contribution to the proton structure function is
determined for Bjorken between 2 10 and 5 10.Comment: 17 pages including 4 figure
Observation of Scaling Violations in Scaled Momentum Distributions at HERA
Charged particle production has been measured in deep inelastic scattering
(DIS) events over a large range of and using the ZEUS detector. The
evolution of the scaled momentum, , with in the range 10 to 1280

frame. The results show clear evidence, in a single experiment, for scaling
violations in scaled momenta as a function of .Comment: 21 pages including 4 figures, to be published in Physics Letters B.

Observation of Events with an Energetic Forward Neutron in Deep Inelastic Scattering at HERA
In deep inelastic neutral current scattering of positrons and protons at the center of mass energy of 300 GeV, we observe, with the ZEUS detector, events with a high energy neutron produced at very small scattering angles with respect to the proton direction. The events constitute a fixed fraction of the deep inelastic, neutral current event sample independent of Bjorken x and Q2 in the range 3 · 10-4 \u3c xBJ \u3c 6 · 10-3 and 10 \u3c Q2 \u3c 100 GeV2
Volume I. Introduction to DUNE
The preponderance of matter over antimatter in the early universe, the dynamics of the supernovae that produced the heavy elements necessary for life, and whether protons eventually decay—these mysteries at the forefront of particle physics and astrophysics are key to understanding the early evolution of our universe, its current state, and its eventual fate. The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is an international world-class experiment dedicated to addressing these questions as it searches for leptonic charge-parity symmetry violation, stands ready to capture supernova neutrino bursts, and seeks to observe nucleon decay as a signature of a grand unified theory underlying the standard model. The DUNE far detector technical design report (TDR) describes the DUNE physics program and the technical designs of the single- and dual-phase DUNE liquid argon TPC far detector modules. This TDR is intended to justify the technical choices for the far detector that flow down from the high-level physics goals through requirements at all levels of the Project. Volume I contains an executive summary that introduces the DUNE science program, the far detector and the strategy for its modular designs, and the organization and management of the Project. The remainder of Volume I provides more detail on the science program that drives the choice of detector technologies and on the technologies themselves. It also introduces the designs for the DUNE near detector and the DUNE computing model, for which DUNE is planning design reports. Volume II of this TDR describes DUNE\u27s physics program in detail. Volume III describes the technical coordination required for the far detector design, construction, installation, and integration, and its organizational structure. Volume IV describes the single-phase far detector technology. A planned Volume V will describe the dual-phase technology
Combination of searches for WW, WZ, and ZZ resonances in pp collisions at s=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector
The ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider has performed searches for new, heavy bosons decaying to WW, WZ and ZZ final states in multiple decay channels using 20.3 fb-1 of pp collision data at s=8 TeV. In the current study, the results of these searches are combined to provide a more stringent test of models predicting heavy resonances with couplings to vector bosons. Direct searches for a charged diboson resonance decaying to WZ in the ℓνℓ'ℓ' (ℓ=μ, e), ℓℓqq-, ℓνqq- and fully hadronic final states are combined and upper limits on the rate of production times branching ratio to the WZ bosons are compared with predictions of an extended gauge model with a heavy W' boson. In addition, direct searches for a neutral diboson resonance decaying to WW and ZZ in the ℓℓqq-, ℓνqq-, and fully hadronic final states are combined and upper limits on the rate of production times branching ratio to the WW and ZZ bosons are compared with predictions for a heavy, spin-2 graviton in an extended Randall-Sundrum model where the Standard Model fields are allowed to propagate in the bulk of the extra dimension
