    Front crawl swimming analysis using accelerometers:A preliminary comparison between pool and flume

    AbstractBiomechanical characteristics such as stroke rate and stroke length can be used to determine the velocity of a swimmer and can be analysed in both a swimming pool and a flume. The aim of the present preliminary study was to investigate the differences between the acceleration data collected from a swimming pool with that collected from a flume, as a function of the swimmer's stroke rate and stroke count, with the objective of identifying the impact on the swimmer's performance. The differences were determined by the analysis of the stroke's features, comparing several strokes normalized to one stroke count from an elite swimmer. Triaxial accelerometer logging using a sensor located in an arm band positioned immediately in the wrist was used to record the swimmer's stroke. There is statistical evidence that show that there are small differences between the pool and flume on medio-lateral wrist movements (0.64 < r < 0.75). The correlation coefficients are (0.75 < r < 0.83) and (0.82 < r < 0.89) for the other two axes

    This article describes the methodology to certify a FTTH GPON network, in order to minimize the errors that tend to show up during the execution of this process within an optical network. The work is based on national and international technical standards, ensuring optimal performance of the network. Empirical methods are used in the field through processes characterization, measurement and analysis of results, which will identify the factors allowing that measurements are within the range set with the use of tools and equipment properly configured and updated. The need for an effective regulation is established in the certification of a FTTH GPON network to bring maximum benefits for companies providing service in the country and meeting the demand for bandwidth of the end customer, ensuring the application of new technologies helping to optimize the use of convergence oriented service, the implementation of Next Generation Networks and towards infrastructure investment in strategic sectors

    Clasificador Catastral: complemento de QGIS para la clasificación de los usos del suelo urbano a nivel de parcela

    El conocimiento apropiado de la distribución espacial de los distintos tipos de usos del suelo es fundamental para su planificación y gestión, y para ello se requiere de fuentes de información de alto detalle. En este contexto se ha desarrollado el complemento Clasificador Catastral (CC) para QGIS, que tiene como finalidad el análisis de la información catastral para dar como resultado clasificaciones de uso de suelo con distinto nivel de detalle. CC permite realizar tres tipos de clasificaciones, desde una básica con 6 usos y una intermedia con 14, que incluye usos mixtos, hasta una avanzada, con tantos usos como el usuario defina. Para validar su funcionamiento se ha analizado la correspondencia de la clasificación resultante de un municipio de la Comunidad de Madrid con información catastral y trabajo de campo. Se observa que hay un alto grado de fidelidad con la realidad, a excepción de las zonas verdes, que requieren de fuentes de información adicionales

    Phase segregation in supramolecular polymers based on telechelics synthesized via multicomponent reactions

    The properties of supramolecular polymers in the solid state are strongly dependent on the binding strength of the supramolecular motifs used; however, It has been previously shown that the nanostructure of supramolecular polymers plays an equally important role. Supramolecular polymers are commonly synthesized via end-group functionalization of low-glass transition telechelics with supramolecular units. In these systems, the binding motifs segregate from the soft telechelic backbone and form a hydrogen bonded crystalline hard phase that provides physical cross-links. To date, the reported synthetic approaches do not permit the introduction of a wide variety of supramolecular units with low synthetic effort, which would facilitate studying the structure-property relationships. The use of the Passerini and Ugi multicomponent reactions to synthesize various poly(ethylene-co-butylene) telechelics with diverse amide end-groups is reported. The thermal properties of the supramolecular polymers obtained through their solid-state assembly are investigated and their nanophase- segregation is studied, which is dictated by the end-group volume fraction and the amide–amide hydrogen bonding

    Risk portfolio on modern finance has become increasingly technical, requiring the use of sophisticated mathematical tools in both research and practice. Since companies cannot insure themselves completely against risk, as human incompetence in predicting the future precisely that written in Al-Quran surah Luqman verse 34, they have to manage it to yield an optimal portfolio. The objective here is to minimize the variance among all portfolios, or alternatively, to maximize expected return among all portfolios that has at least a certain expected return. Furthermore, this study focuses on optimizing risk portfolio so called Markowitz MVO (Mean-Variance Optimization). Some theoretical frameworks for analysis are arithmetic mean, geometric mean, variance, covariance, linear programming, and quadratic programming. Moreover, finding a minimum variance portfolio produces a convex quadratic programming, that is minimizing the objective function ðð¥with constraintsð ð 𥠥 ðandð´ð¥ = ð. The outcome of this research is the solution of optimal risk portofolio in some investments that could be finished smoothly using MATLAB R2007b software together with its graphic analysis

    Measurement of the top quark forward-backward production asymmetry and the anomalous chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV

    Abstract The parton-level top quark (t) forward-backward asymmetry and the anomalous chromoelectric (d̂ t) and chromomagnetic (μ̂ t) moments have been measured using LHC pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected in the CMS detector in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The linearized variable AFB(1) is used to approximate the asymmetry. Candidate t t ¯ events decaying to a muon or electron and jets in final states with low and high Lorentz boosts are selected and reconstructed using a fit of the kinematic distributions of the decay products to those expected for t t ¯ final states. The values found for the parameters are AFB(1)=0.048−0.087+0.095(stat)−0.029+0.020(syst),μ̂t=−0.024−0.009+0.013(stat)−0.011+0.016(syst), and a limit is placed on the magnitude of | d̂ t| &lt; 0.03 at 95% confidence level.
