Del proyecto para la educaci?n rural etapa dos editado por el Ministerio de Educaci?n, en estudiantes de grado sexto y s?ptimo con modalidad multigrado. Para cumplir con este objetivo, inicialmente se determin? las competencias cient?ficas que aborda la secuencia, posteriormente, se valor? el estadio inicial de las competencias cient?ficas, luego se ejecut? la secuencia did?ctica con los estudiantes y de nuevo se procedi? a revalorar las competencias para determinar su fortalecimiento. Este estudio se realiz? bajo un dise?o cualitativo, hermen?utico, en la cual se emple? el an?lisis contenido para el estudio de los documentos del Ministerio de Educaci?n Nacional y de los cuestionarios aplicados a los estudiantes, las t?cnicas empleadas para la recolecci?n, reducci?n y s?ntesis de la informaci?n fue el protocolo y las fichas de an?lisis. Los resultados identificaron, que en el grupo de estudiantes inicialmente predominaban niveles incipientes y bajos en cada una de las competencias y que a partir de la aplicaci?n de la secuencia did?ctica basada en la indagaci?n ?De qu? est? hecho el suelo? Se redujo significativamente los estos niveles y se incrementaron los niveles b?sicos, aparecieron en el grupo de estudiantes niveles satisfactorios y en menor grado niveles avanzados. Palabras claves: competencias cient?ficas, ense?anza de las ciencias, indagaci?n, secuencias did?cticas.Next, we present the results of the research "Strengthening scientific competencies (I approach knowledge as a scientist) in the area of natural sciences, by applying a didactic sequence based on inquiry, In sixth-and seventh-grade students from the San Juan Bosco Commercial Technical educational institution in the municipality of San Luis-Tolima?, whose objective was to identify the strengthening of scientific competencies, through the didactic sequence based on the inquiry, what is the soil made of? Of the project for Rural Education Stage Two edited by the Ministry of Education, in sixth and seventh grade students with multi-degree modality. Lamp to comply with this objective, initially it was determined the scientific competences that approach the sequence, later, the initial stage of the scientific competencies was assessed, then the didactic sequence was executed with the students and again It proceeded to reassess the competencies to determine its strengthening. This study was carried out under a qualitative design, hermeneutic, in which the analysis contained for the study of the documents of the Ministry of Education was used, and the questionnaires applied to the students, the techniques used for the collection, reduction and synthesis of information was the protocol and the analysis sheets. The results identified, that in the group of students initially dominated incipient and low levels in each of the competencies and that from the application of the didactic sequence based on the inquiry what is the soil made of? These levels were significantly reduced and the basic levels were increased, satisfactory levels appeared in the student group and to a lesser degree advanced level.     Search for squarks and gluinos with the ATLAS detector in final states with jets and missing transverse momentum using √s=8 TeV proton-proton collision data

    A search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing high-p T jets, missing transverse momentum and no electrons or muons is presented. The data were recorded in 2012 by the ATLAS experiment in s√=8 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, with a total integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb−1. Results are interpreted in a variety of simplified and specific supersymmetry-breaking models assuming that R-parity is conserved and that the lightest neutralino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. An exclusion limit at the 95% confidence level on the mass of the gluino is set at 1330 GeV for a simplified model incorporating only a gluino and the lightest neutralino. For a simplified model involving the strong production of first- and second-generation squarks, squark masses below 850 GeV (440 GeV) are excluded for a massless lightest neutralino, assuming mass degenerate (single light-flavour) squarks. In mSUGRA/CMSSM models with tan ÎČ = 30, A 0 = −2m 0 and ÎŒ > 0, squarks and gluinos of equal mass are excluded for masses below 1700 GeV. Additional limits are set for non-universal Higgs mass models with gaugino mediation and for simplified models involving the pair production of gluinos, each decaying to a top squark and a top quark, with the top squark decaying to a charm quark and a neutralino. These limits extend the region of supersymmetric parameter space excluded by previous searches with the ATLAS detector

    A search for the direct production of charginos and neutralinos in final states with three leptons and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis is based on 20.3 fb−1 of s√ = 8 TeV proton-proton collision data delivered by the Large Hadron Collider and recorded with the ATLAS detector. Observations are consistent with the Standard Model expectations and limits are set in R-parity-conserving phenomenological Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Models and in simplified supersymmetric models, significantly extending previous results. For simplified supersymmetric models of direct chargino (χ˜±1) and next-to-lightest neutralino (χ˜02) production with decays to lightest neutralino (χ˜01) via either all three generations of sleptons, staus only, gauge bosons, or Higgs bosons, (χ˜±1) and (χ˜02) masses are excluded up to 700 GeV, 380 GeV, 345 GeV, or 148 GeV respectively, for a massless (χ˜01

    Breast cancer is a common disease partially caused by genetic risk factors. Germline pathogenic variants in DNA repair genes BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, ATM, and CHEK2 are associated with breast cancer risk. FANCM, which encodes for a DNA translocase, has been proposed as a breast cancer predisposition gene, with greater effects for the ER-negative and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) subtypes. We tested the three recurrent protein-truncating variants FANCM:p.Arg658*, p.Gln1701*, and p.Arg1931* for association with breast cancer risk in 67,112 cases, 53,766 controls, and 26,662 carriers of pathogenic variants of BRCA1 or BRCA2. These three variants were also studied functionally by measuring survival and chromosome fragility in FANCM (-/-) patient-derived immortalized fibroblasts treated with diepoxybutane or olaparib. We observed that FANCM:p.Arg658* was associated with increased risk of ER-negative disease and TNBC (OR = 2.44, P = 0.034 and OR = 3.79; P = 0.009, respectively). In a country-restricted analysis, we confirmed the associations detected for FANCM:p.Arg658* and found that also FANCM:p.Arg1931* was associated with ER-negative breast cancer risk (OR = 1.96; P = 0.006). The functional results indicated that all three variants were deleterious affecting cell survival and chromosome stability with FANCM:p.Arg658* causing more severe phenotypes. In conclusion, we confirmed that the two rare FANCM deleterious variants p.Arg658* and p.Arg1931* are risk factors for ER-negative and TNBC subtypes. Overall our data suggest that the effect of truncating variants on breast cancer risk may depend on their position in the gene. Cell sensitivity to olaparib exposure, identifies a possible therapeutic option to treat FANCM-associated tumors

    Searches for heavy long-lived charged particles with the ATLAS detector in proton-proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV

    Searches for heavy long-lived charged particles are performed using a data sample of 19.1 fb−1 from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s√ = 8 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess is observed above the estimated background and limits are placed on the mass of long-lived particles in various supersymmetric models. Long-lived tau sleptons in models with gauge-mediated symmetry breaking are excluded up to masses between 440 and 385 GeV for tan ÎČ between 10 and 50, with a 290 GeV limit in the case where only direct tau slepton production is considered. In the context of simplified LeptoSUSY models, where sleptons are stable and have a mass of 300 GeV, squark and gluino masses are excluded up to a mass of 1500 and 1360 GeV, respectively. Directly produced charginos, in simplified models where they are nearly degenerate to the lightest neutralino, are excluded up to a mass of 620 GeV. R-hadrons, composites containing a gluino, bottom squark or top squark, are excluded up to a mass of 1270, 845 and 900 GeV, respectively, using the full detector; and up to a mass of 1260, 835 and 870 GeV using an approach disregarding information from the muon spectrometer

    This paper presents a search for new particles in events with one lepton (electron or muon) and missing transverse momentum using 20.3 fb−Âč of proton-proton collision data at √s=8 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess beyond Standard Model expectations is observed. A Wâ€Č with Sequential Standard Model couplings is excluded at the 95% confidence level for masses up to 3.24 TeV. Excited chiral bosons (W*) with equivalent coupling strengths are excluded for masses up to 3.21 TeV. In the framework of an effective field theory limits are also set on the dark matter-nucleon scattering cross-section as well as the mass scale M* of the unknown mediating interaction for dark matter pair production in association with a leptonically decaying W

    Evidence for electroweak production of W±W±jj in pp collisions at s√=8  TeV with the ATLAS detector

    This Letter presents the first study of W±W±jj, same-electric-charge diboson production in association with two jets, using 20.3  fb−1 of proton-proton collision data at s√=8  TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two reconstructed same-charge leptons (e±e±, e±Ό±, and Ό±Ό±) and two or more jets are analyzed. Production cross sections are measured in two fiducial regions, with different sensitivities to the electroweak and strong production mechanisms. First evidence for W±W±jj production and electroweak-only W±W±jj production is observed with a significance of 4.5 and 3.6 standard deviations, respectively. The measured production cross sections are in agreement with standard model predictions. Limits at 95% confidence level are set on anomalous quartic gauge couplings

    Measurement of the low-mass Drell-Yan differential cross section at √s = 7 TeV using the ATLAS detector

    The differential cross section for the process Z/Îł ∗ → ℓℓ (ℓ = e, ÎŒ) as a function of dilepton invariant mass is measured in pp collisions at s√ = 7 TeV at the LHC using the ATLAS detector. The measurement is performed in the e and ÎŒ channels for invariant masses between 26 GeV and 66 GeV using an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb−1 collected in 2011 and these measurements are combined. The analysis is extended to invariant masses as low as 12 GeV in the muon channel using 35 pb−1 of data collected in 2010. The cross sections are determined within fiducial acceptance regions and corrections to extrapolate the measurements to the full kinematic range are provided. Next-to-next-to-leading-order QCD predictions provide a significantly better description of the results than next-to-leading-order QCD calculations, unless the latter are matched to a parton shower calculation
