Multiplicity dependence of jet-like two-particle correlations in p-Pb collisions at = 5.02 TeV
Two-particle angular correlations between unidentified charged trigger and
associated particles are measured by the ALICE detector in p-Pb collisions at a
nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. The transverse-momentum
range 0.7 5.0 GeV/ is examined,
to include correlations induced by jets originating from low
momen\-tum-transfer scatterings (minijets). The correlations expressed as
associated yield per trigger particle are obtained in the pseudorapidity range
. The near-side long-range pseudorapidity correlations observed in
high-multiplicity p-Pb collisions are subtracted from both near-side
short-range and away-side correlations in order to remove the non-jet-like
components. The yields in the jet-like peaks are found to be invariant with
event multiplicity with the exception of events with low multiplicity. This
invariance is consistent with the particles being produced via the incoherent
fragmentation of multiple parton--parton scatterings, while the yield related
to the previously observed ridge structures is not jet-related. The number of
uncorrelated sources of particle production is found to increase linearly with
multiplicity, suggesting no saturation of the number of multi-parton
interactions even in the highest multiplicity p-Pb collisions. Further, the
number scales in the intermediate multiplicity region with the number of binary

Multi-particle azimuthal correlations in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider
Measurements of multi-particle azimuthal correlations (cumulants) for charged
particles in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions are presented. They help address the
question of whether there is evidence for global, flow-like, azimuthal
correlations in the p-Pb system. Comparisons are made to measurements from the
larger Pb-Pb system, where such evidence is established. In particular, the
second harmonic two-particle cumulants are found to decrease with multiplicity,
characteristic of a dominance of few-particle correlations in p-Pb collisions.
However, when a gap is placed to suppress such correlations,
the two-particle cumulants begin to rise at high-multiplicity, indicating the
presence of global azimuthal correlations. The Pb-Pb values are higher than the
p-Pb values at similar multiplicities. In both systems, the second harmonic
four-particle cumulants exhibit a transition from positive to negative values
when the multiplicity increases. The negative values allow for a measurement of
to be made, which is found to be higher in Pb-Pb collisions at
similar multiplicities. The second harmonic six-particle cumulants are also
found to be higher in Pb-Pb collisions. In Pb-Pb collisions, we generally find
which is indicative of a Bessel-Gaussian
function for the distribution. For very high-multiplicity Pb-Pb
collisions, we observe that the four- and six-particle cumulants become
consistent with 0. Finally, third harmonic two-particle cumulants in p-Pb and
Pb-Pb are measured. These are found to be similar for overlapping

Стаття присвячена теоретичному дослідженню важливості використання існуючих механізмів превентивної юстиції та дієвості правозахисної функції нотаріату.
Доведено, що нотаріус як гарант превентивності правовідносин реалізує свої правозахисні функції не лише на стадії реалізації іпотечних зобовязань, шляхом вчинення виконавчого напису на борговому документі, а і на стадії узгодження та викладення всіх
істотних умов договору.

существующих механизмов превентивной юстиции и действенности правозащитной
функции нотариата. Доказывается, что нотариус как гарант превентивности правоотношений реализует свои правозащитные функции не только на стадии реализации
ипотечных обязательств, в связи с совершением исполнительной надписи на долговом
документе, а и на стадии согласования и изложения всех существенных условий договора.

notaries as a guaranty of prevention law relation realizes his law defender functions not only
on the stage of realization ipothek obligations, making performance inscription on the duty
document, but on the stage of consenting and stating all existence conditions of contract.

Cellular forgetting, desensitisation, stress and aging in signalling networks. When do cells refuse to learn more?
Recent findings show that single, non-neuronal cells are also able to learn
signalling responses developing cellular memory. In cellular learning nodes of
signalling networks strengthen their interactions e.g. by the conformational
memory of intrinsically disordered proteins, protein translocation, miRNAs,
lncRNAs, chromatin memory and signalling cascades. This can be described by a
generalized, unicellular Hebbian learning process, where those signalling
connections, which participate in learning, become stronger. Here we review
those scenarios, where cellular signalling is not only repeated in a few times
(when learning occurs), but becomes too frequent, too large, or too complex and
overloads the cell. This leads to desensitisation of signalling networks by
decoupling signalling components, receptor internalization, and consequent
downregulation. These molecular processes are examples of anti-Hebbian learning
and forgetting of signalling networks. Stress can be perceived as signalling
overload inducing the desensitisation of signalling pathways. Aging occurs by
the summative effects of cumulative stress downregulating signalling. We
propose that cellular learning desensitisation, stress and aging may be placed
along the same axis of more and more intensive (prolonged or repeated)
signalling. We discuss how cells might discriminate between repeated and
unexpected signals, and highlight the Hebbian and anti-Hebbian mechanisms
behind the fold-change detection in the NF-\k{appa}B signalling pathway. We
list drug design methods using Hebbian learning (such as chemically-induced
proximity) and clinical treatment modalities inducing (cancer, drug allergies)
desensitisation or avoiding drug-induced desensitisation. A better
discrimination between cellular learning, desensitisation and stress may open
novel directions in drug design, e.g., helping to overcome drug-resistance.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figure
K0S and Λ production in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN−−−−√=2.76 TeV
The ALICE measurement of K0S and Λ production at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN−−−√=2.76 TeV is presented. The transverse momentum (pT) spectra are shown for several collision centrality intervals and in the pT range from 0.4 GeV/c (0.6 GeV/c for Λ) to 12 GeV/c. The pT dependence of the Λ/K0S ratios exhibits maxima in the vicinity of 3 GeV/c, and the positions of the maxima shift towards higher pT with increasing collision centrality. The magnitude of these maxima increases by almost a factor of three between most peripheral and most central Pb-Pb collisions. This baryon excess at intermediate pT is not observed in pp interactions at s√=0.9 TeV and at s√=7 TeV. Qualitatively, the baryon enhancement in heavy-ion collisions is expected from radial flow. However, the measured pT spectra above 2 GeV/c progressively decouple from hydrodynamical-model calculations. For higher values of pT, models that incorporate the influence of the medium on the fragmentation and hadronization processes describe qualitatively the pT dependence of the Λ/K0S ratio
FENDL: A library for fusion research and applications
The Fusion Evaluated Nuclear Data Library (FENDL) is a comprehensive and
validated collection of nuclear cross section data coordinated by the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Data Section (NDS). FENDL
assembles the best nuclear data for fusion applications selected from available
nuclear data libraries and has been under development for decades. FENDL
contains sub-libraries for incident neutron, proton, and deuteron cross
sections including general purpose and activation files used for particle
transport and nuclide inventory calculations.
We describe the history, selection of evaluations for the various
sub-libraries (neutron, proton, deuteron) with the focus on transport and
reactor dosimetry applications, the processing of the nuclear data for
application codes, and the development of the TENDL-2017 library which is the
currently recommended activation library for FENDL. We briefly describe the
IAEA IRDFF library as the recommended library for dosimetry fusion
applications. We also present work on validation of the neutron sub-library
using a variety of fusion relevant computational and experimental benchmarks. A
variety of cross section libraries are used for the validation work including
FENDL-2.1, FENDL-3.1d, FENDL-3.2, ENDF/B-VIII.0, and JEFF-3.2 with the emphasis
on the FENDL libraries. The results of the experimental validation showed that
the performance of FENDL-3.2b is at least as good and in most cases better than
FENDL-2.1.
Future work will consider improved evaluations developed by the International
Nuclear Data Evaluation Network (INDEN). Additional work will be needed to
investigate differences in gas production in structural materials. Covariance
matrices need to be updated to support the development of fusion technology.
Additional validation work for high-energy neutrons, protons and deuterons, and
the activation library will be needed.Comment: 81 pages, 114 figure
Measurement of transverse energy at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN)=2.76 TeV
We report the transverse energy (ET) measured with ALICE at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV as a function of centrality. The transverse energy was measured using identified single-particle tracks. The measurement was cross checked using the electromagnetic calorimeters and the transverse momentum distributions of identified particles previously reported by ALICE. The results are compared to theoretical models as well as to results from other experiments. The mean ET per unit pseudorapidity (eta), , in 0%-5% central collisions is 1737 +/- 6(stat.) +/- 97(sys.) GeV. We find a similar centrality dependence of the shape of as a function of the number of participating nucleons to that seen at lower energies. The growth in at the LHC energies exceeds extrapolations of low-energy data. We observe a nearly linear scaling of with the number of quark participants. With the canonical assumption of a 1 fm/c formation time, we estimate that the energy density in 0%-5% central Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV is 12.3 +/- 1.0 GeV/fm(3) and that the energy density at the most central 80 fm(2) of the collision is at least 21.5 +/- 1.7 GeV/fm(3). This is roughly 2.3 times that observed in 0%-5% central Au-Au collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV.Peer reviewe
Performance of the ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC
ALICE is the heavy-ion experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The experiment continuously took data during the first physics campaign of the machine from fall 2009 until early 2013, using proton and lead-ion beams. In this paper we describe the running environment and the data handling procedures, and discuss the performance of the ALICE detectors and analysis methods for various physics observables
