São eles que constituem os atores da trama das relações sociais que analisa. Contudo, o seu significado só existe enquanto atualizam as relações mais próximas ao louco são eles que designam a loucura e o seu tratamento. O outro privilegiado de Rosine é, assim, o louco. Não o louco diretamente, mas tal como representado pelos encarregados da instituição hospitalar e pelos familiares

Broadband Multi-wavelength Properties of M87 during the 2017 Event Horizon Telescope Campaign

Abstract: In 2017, the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration succeeded in capturing the first direct image of the center of the M87 galaxy. The asymmetric ring morphology and size are consistent with theoretical expectations for a weakly accreting supermassive black hole of mass ∼6.5 × 109 M ⊙. The EHTC also partnered with several international facilities in space and on the ground, to arrange an extensive, quasi-simultaneous multi-wavelength campaign. This Letter presents the results and analysis of this campaign, as well as the multi-wavelength data as a legacy data repository. We captured M87 in a historically low state, and the core flux dominates over HST-1 at high energies, making it possible to combine core flux constraints with the more spatially precise very long baseline interferometry data. We present the most complete simultaneous multi-wavelength spectrum of the active nucleus to date, and discuss the complexity and caveats of combining data from different spatial scales into one broadband spectrum. We apply two heuristic, isotropic leptonic single-zone models to provide insight into the basic source properties, but conclude that a structured jet is necessary to explain M87’s spectrum. We can exclude that the simultaneous γ-ray emission is produced via inverse Compton emission in the same region producing the EHT mm-band emission, and further conclude that the γ-rays can only be produced in the inner jets (inward of HST-1) if there are strongly particle-dominated regions. Direct synchrotron emission from accelerated protons and secondaries cannot yet be excluded

Família, reciprocidade e condição de classe

Nas sociedades ocidentais, especialmente do ponto de vista das suas "classes médias” , e mais ainda dos seus segmentos intelectuais, as questões de “ parentesco” e da “ família” são representadas como questões de ordem privada e assim, menores e menos importantes em relação às grandes questões políticas e econômicas que regem a ordem pública. Diante das sociedades tribais, os antropólogos não puderam deixar de registrar o contraste da posição das questões relativas ao parentesco e à família. O parentesco está presente nas dimensões política e econômica. Segundo alguns é a linguagem que organiza essas dimensões. Segundo outros, é um dos princípios determinantes de toda sua organização social. O parentesco, nas sociedades tribais, claramente não é uma questão ‘menor” . Este contraste impôs à antropologia um lugar privilegiado para o parentesco como objeto e exigiu toda uma construção de metodologias e técnicas para o estudo das relações de parentesco. No entanto, estes estudes, muitas vezes se restringiram à realização da primeira etapa de decifrar a construção (ou seja, reconstruir) os princípios de definição da rede de parentesco por consangüinidade e afinidade

In situ Effect of Nanohydroxyapatite Paste in Enamel Teeth Bleaching

Belem, PA, Brazil.AIM: Evaluate in situ the effect of nanohydroxyapatite paste (nano-HAP) before bleaching with hydrogen peroxide 35% (HP35%) by ion chromatography (IC) Knoop hardness number (KHN) and tristimulus colorimetry (TC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 60 fragments were obtained from third molars included (3 mm × 3 mm × 3 mm) and the specimens were divided into three groups (n = 20): Gas chromatography (CG) (negative control group) = no bleaching; HP35% (positive control group) = HP35% whitening (whiteness HP35%); nano-HAP = application for 10 minutes before bleaching treatment + HP35%. The specimens were fixed to the volunteers' molars. The KHN and TC were measured before and after bleaching. For IC, the dentin layer was removed, leaving the enamel that was crushed, and autoclaved for chemical quantification (calcium, fluorine, and phosphorus). The results of KHN and TC were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Tukey test (p < 0.05). RESULTS: The HP35% group showed reduction of the Ca, F, and P ions. The initial and final KHN mean of the CG and nano-HAP did not differ statistically; however, the group of HP35% did differ statistically. The mean ΔE of the HP35% and nano-HAP groups did not differ statistically from each other. However, they differed from the CG. CONCLUSION: The nano-HAP paste preserved the KHN, promoted the lower loss of Ca and P ions and an increase of F ions when compared with the CG, but did not influence the effectiveness of the bleaching treatment. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Nano-HA is a biomaterial that has shown positive results in the prevention of deleterious effects on the enamel by the action of the office bleaching treatment

Characterisation of microbial attack on archaeological bone

As part of an EU funded project to investigate the factors influencing bone preservation in the archaeological record, more than 250 bones from 41 archaeological sites in five countries spanning four climatic regions were studied for diagenetic alteration. Sites were selected to cover a range of environmental conditions and archaeological contexts. Microscopic and physical (mercury intrusion porosimetry) analyses of these bones revealed that the majority (68%) had suffered microbial attack. Furthermore, significant differences were found between animal and human bone in both the state of preservation and the type of microbial attack present. These differences in preservation might result from differences in early taphonomy of the bones. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved
