    The present study is a mixed approach research based on the design and implementation of sustainable techniques and solutions applied to a prototype dwelling with qualitative deficiencies in Colonia Santa Clara, located in Comayagüela, MDC, with the objective of identifying the spatial and physical conditions of the dwellings and generate a proposal based on the results of the same research that leads to innovation and the easy and adequate implementation by the inhabitants of the techniques of sustainability of housing. For this purpose, a diagnosis of the place was taken with sampling tools that allowed the choice of priority techniques, which lead to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants, which include criteria of sustainability, ecological, low economic cost, easy realization with techniques and materials of the zone. Likewise, issues of basic sanitation, drinking water, food safety, waste management, water reuse and, of course, constructive alternatives were considered, allowing a positive result in environmental, economic and social aspects, adding the use of techniques and infrastructure implemented by its users. Based on sustainability criteria, the research showed the inhabitants the benefits, economic accessibility and ease, in order to motivate them to improve their quality of life with few resources and materials at their disposal. De igual manera se consideraron temas de saneamiento básico, agua potable, seguridad alimentaria, manejo de desechos, reutilización del agua, y por supuesto las alternativas constructivas, permitiendo generar un resultado positivo en aspectos ambientales, económicos y sociales, sumando el uso de las técnicas e infraestructura implementadas por parte de sus usuarios. Basada en criterios de sostenibilidad, la investigación permitió demostrar a los habitantes los beneficios, accesibilidad económica y facilidad, con el fin de motivarlos a mejorar su calidad de vida con pocos recursos y materiales a su alcance.     Predictors of use of direct oral anticoagulants in patients with venous thromboembolism : Findings from the Registro Informatizado Enfermedad Tromboembólica registry

    Current guidelines recommend the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) for patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE). However little is known about the use of DOACs in daily practice. We used the RIETE registry to identify predictors of use of DOACs for initial and/or long-term therapy of VTE based on patient-related factors, institution-related factors or over time. Among 41,678 patients from March 2013 to September 2021, 12,286 (29%) used DOACs: for initial therapy 6,456; for long-term therapy 12,046. On multivariable analysis, independent predictors were: age 120 kg (OR: 0.64; 95% CI: 0.53-0.77), initial VTE presentation as pulmonary embolism (OR: 1.18; 95% CI: 1.13-1.25), recent bleeding (OR: 0.53; 95% CI: 0.45-0.63), renal insufficiency (OR: 0.44; 95% CI: 0.38-0.51), liver cirrhosis (OR: 0.32; 95% CI: 0.20-0.52), thrombocytopenia (OR: 0.40; 95% CI: 0.34-0.49), atrial fibrillation (OR: 1.58; 95% CI: 1.42-1.75) and prior VTE (OR: 1.14; 95% CI: 1.06-1.22). The DOACs were more likely used in other European countries (OR: 8.97; 95% CI: 8.49-9.49), America (OR: 6.35; 95% CI: 5.67-7.11) or in other countries of the world (OR: 2.99; 95% CI: 2.70-3.31) than in Spain, and progressively increased from 2013-2015 to 2016-2018 (OR: 2.78; 95% CI: 2.62-2.95) and 2019-2021 (OR: 6.36; 95% CI: 5.95-6.80). In this large multinational VTE registry, variations were observed in the use of DOACs according to patient or country factors, and over time. The safety, costs, and influence of the DOACs on VTE-related outcomes in daily practice warrant further investigation

    Clinical features of De Novo acute myeloid leukemia with concurrent DNMT3A, FLT3 and NPM1 mutations

    BACKGROUND: De novo acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with concurrent DNMT3A, FLT3 and NPM1 mutations (AML(DNMT3A/FLT3/NPM1)) has been suggested to represent a unique AML subset on the basis of integrative genomic analysis, but the clinical features of such patients have not been characterized systematically. METHODS: We assessed the features of patients (n = 178) harboring mutations in DNMT3A, FLT3 and/or NPM1, including an index group of AML(DNMT3A/FLT3/NPM1) patients. RESULTS: Patients with AML(DNMT3A/FLT3/NPM1) (n = 35) were significantly younger (median, 56.0 vs. 62.0 years; p = 0.025), mostly women (65.7% vs. 46.9%; p = 0.045), and presented with a higher percentage of bone marrow blasts (p < 0.001) and normal cytogenetics (p = 0.024) in comparison to patients within other mutation groups in this study. Among patients <60 years old, those with AML(DNMT3A/FLT3/NPM1) had a shorter event-free survival (EFS) (p = 0.047). DNMT3A mutations and not FLT3 or NPM1 mutations were independently associated with overall survival (OS) (p = 0.026). Within mutation subgroups, patients with AML(DNMT3A/NPM1) had a significantly shorter OS compared to those with AML(FLT3-ITD/NPM1) (p = 0.047) suggesting that the adverse impact of DNMT3A mutations is more pronounced than that of FLT3-ITD among patients with NPM1 mutation. CONCLUSIONS: DNMT3A has a significant dominant effect on the clinical features and outcomes of de novo AML patients with concurrent DNMT3A, FLT3 and NPM1 mutations.     Spectrum of Headaches Associated With SARS‐CoV‐2 Infection: Study of Healthcare Professionals

    Background: Series of patients with SARS‐CoV‐2 infection report headache in 6%‐15% of cases, although some data suggest that the actual frequency is higher, and that headache is not associated with fever. No study published to date has analyzed the characteristics of headache in these patients. Objective: To analyze the characteristics of COVID‐19 related headaches. Methods: We conducted a survey of Spaniard healthcare professionals who have been infected by SARS‐CoV‐2 and presented headache during the course of the disease. The survey addressed respondents’ medical history and headache characteristics, and we analyzed the association between both. Results: We analyzed the responses of a sample of 112 healthcare professionals. History of migraine was reported by 20/112 (17.9%) of respondents, history of tension‐type headache by 8/112 (7.1%), and history of cluster headache was reported by a single respondent; 82/112(73.2%) of respondents had no history of headache. Headache presented independently of fever, around the third day after symptom onset. The previous history of migraine was associated with a higher frequency of pulsating headache (20% in patients with previous migraine vs 4.3% in those with no history of migraine, P = .013). Conclusion: Headache is often holocranial, hemicranial, or occipital, pressing, and worsens with physical activity or head movements. Because the characteristics of the headache and the associated symptoms are heterogeneous in our survey, we suggest that several patterns with specific pathophysiological mechanisms may underlie the headache associated with COVID‐19

    Jet energy measurement with the ATLAS detector in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV

    The jet energy scale and its systematic uncertainty are determined for jets measured with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 7TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 38 pb-1. Jets are reconstructed with the anti-kt algorithm with distance parameters R=0. 4 or R=0. 6. Jet energy and angle corrections are determined from Monte Carlo simulations to calibrate jets with transverse momenta pT≥20 GeV and pseudorapidities {pipe}η{pipe}<4. 5. The jet energy systematic uncertainty is estimated using the single isolated hadron response measured in situ and in test-beams, exploiting the transverse momentum balance between central and forward jets in events with dijet topologies and studying systematic variations in Monte Carlo simulations. The jet energy uncertainty is less than 2. 5 % in the central calorimeter region ({pipe}η{pipe}<0. 8) for jets with 60≤pT<800 GeV, and is maximally 14 % for pT<30 GeV in the most forward region 3. 2≤{pipe}η{pipe}<4. 5. The jet energy is validated for jet transverse momenta up to 1 TeV to the level of a few percent using several in situ techniques by comparing a well-known reference such as the recoiling photon pT, the sum of the transverse momenta of tracks associated to the jet, or a system of low-pT jets recoiling against a high-pT jet. More sophisticated jet calibration schemes are presented based on calorimeter cell energy density weighting or hadronic properties of jets, aiming for an improved jet energy resolution and a reduced flavour dependence of the jet response. The systematic uncertainty of the jet energy determined from a combination of in situ techniques is consistent with the one derived from single hadron response measurements over a wide kinematic range. The nominal corrections and uncertainties are derived for isolated jets in an inclusive sample of high-pT jets. Special cases such as event topologies with close-by jets, or selections of samples with an enhanced content of jets originating from light quarks, heavy quarks or gluons are also discussed and the corresponding uncertainties are determined. © 2013 CERN for the benefit of the ATLAS collaboration

    Measurement of the inclusive and dijet cross-sections of b-jets in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    The inclusive and dijet production cross-sections have been measured for jets containing b-hadrons (b-jets) in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measurements use data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb^-1. The b-jets are identified using either a lifetime-based method, where secondary decay vertices of b-hadrons in jets are reconstructed using information from the tracking detectors, or a muon-based method where the presence of a muon is used to identify semileptonic decays of b-hadrons inside jets. The inclusive b-jet cross-section is measured as a function of transverse momentum in the range 20 < pT < 400 GeV and rapidity in the range |y| < 2.1. The bbbar-dijet cross-section is measured as a function of the dijet invariant mass in the range 110 < m_jj < 760 GeV, the azimuthal angle difference between the two jets and the angular variable chi in two dijet mass regions. The results are compared with next-to-leading-order QCD predictions. Good agreement is observed between the measured cross-sections and the predictions obtained using POWHEG + Pythia. MC@NLO + Herwig shows good agreement with the measured bbbar-dijet cross-section. However, it does not reproduce the measured inclusive cross-section well, particularly for central b-jets with large transverse momenta.Comment: 10 pages plus author list (21 pages total), 8 figures, 1 table, final version published in European Physical Journal

    Search for direct production of charginos and neutralinos in events with three leptons and missing transverse momentum in √s = 7 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for the direct production of charginos and neutralinos in final states with three electrons or muons and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis is based on 4.7 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data delivered by the Large Hadron Collider and recorded with the ATLAS detector. Observations are consistent with Standard Model expectations in three signal regions that are either depleted or enriched in Z-boson decays. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set in R-parity conserving phenomenological minimal supersymmetric models and in simplified models, significantly extending previous results

    Observation of associated near-side and away-side long-range correlations in √sNN=5.02  TeV proton-lead collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Two-particle correlations in relative azimuthal angle (Δϕ) and pseudorapidity (Δη) are measured in √sNN=5.02  TeV p+Pb collisions using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measurements are performed using approximately 1  μb-1 of data as a function of transverse momentum (pT) and the transverse energy (ΣETPb) summed over 3.1<η<4.9 in the direction of the Pb beam. The correlation function, constructed from charged particles, exhibits a long-range (2<|Δη|<5) “near-side” (Δϕ∼0) correlation that grows rapidly with increasing ΣETPb. A long-range “away-side” (Δϕ∼π) correlation, obtained by subtracting the expected contributions from recoiling dijets and other sources estimated using events with small ΣETPb, is found to match the near-side correlation in magnitude, shape (in Δη and Δϕ) and ΣETPb dependence. The resultant Δϕ correlation is approximately symmetric about π/2, and is consistent with a dominant cos⁡2Δϕ modulation for all ΣETPb ranges and particle pT

    Search for displaced vertices arising from decays of new heavy particles in 7 TeV pp collisions at ATLAS

    We present the results of a search for new, heavy particles that decay at a significant distance from their production point into a final state containing charged hadrons in association with a high-momentum muon. The search is conducted in a pp-collision data sample with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 33 pb^-1 collected in 2010 by the ATLAS detector operating at the Large Hadron Collider. Production of such particles is expected in various scenarios of physics beyond the standard model. We observe no signal and place limits on the production cross-section of supersymmetric particles in an R-parity-violating scenario as a function of the neutralino lifetime. Limits are presented for different squark and neutralino masses, enabling extension of the limits to a variety of other models.Comment: 8 pages plus author list (20 pages total), 8 figures, 1 table, final version to appear in Physics Letters
