The nowadays conceptions about the community development, have a certain technocratic focus when conceiving just the economic, scientific, technic and environmental dimension bound to the knowledge management. This criteria doesn't recognize the central role that means the moral athics dimension in the social life. The aim of this research is to perform a critic analisis of the problem itself as it is showed in the nowadays Cuban society, beginning with Marti's and Marx's conception of the cultural development in the Cuban Revolution.

Abstract This work presents the design, implementation, and testing of a system that evaluates maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms for photovoltaic applications. The test platform integrates a photovoltaic (PV) emulator to simulate a solar cell that operates under the desired irradiance and temperature conditions. A microcontroller is programmed with the script of the algorithm being tested. Based on this, the microcontroller sends the control signal to a boost converter that drives the system to the operating point determined by the MPPT algorithm. Lastly, the measurements required by the test standard are stored in a database for further analysis. The implemented platform successfully simulated the behavior reported in the literature of the selected algorithm. The main objective of this work is to accelerate the creation of tests platforms for diverse control systems in photovoltaic applications. Keywords: MPPT, Photovoltaic, Test-platform

[Abstract:]The marine brown alga Dictyota pfaffii from Atol das Rocas, in Northeast Brazil is a rich source of dolabellane diterpene, which has the potential to be used in future antiviral drugs by inhibiting reverse transcriptase (RT) of HIV-1. Reexamination of the minor diterpene constituents yielded three new dolabellane diterpenes, (1R*,2E,4R*,7S,10S*,11S*,12R*)10,18-diacetoxy-7-hydroxy-2,8(17)-dolabelladiene (1), (1R*,2E,4R*,7R*,10S*,11S*,12R*)10,18-diacetoxy-7-hydroxy-2,8(17)-dolabelladiene (2), (1R*,2E,4R*,8E,10S*,11S,12R*)10,18-diacetoxy-7-hydroxy-2,8-dolabelladiene (3), termed dolabelladienols A–C (1–3) respectively, in addition to the known dolabellane diterpenes (4–6). The elucidation of the compounds 1–3 was assigned by 1D and 2D NMR, MS, optical rotation and molecular modeling, along with the relative configuration of compound 4 and the absolute configuration of 5 by X-ray diffraction. The potent anti-HIV-1 activities displayed by compounds 1 and 2 (IC50 = 2.9 and 4.1 μM), which were more active than even the known dolabelladienetriol 4, and the low cytotoxic activity against MT-2 lymphocyte tumor cells indicated that these compounds are promising anti-HIV-1 agents.Brasil. A Case of Bicuspid Aorta with Stanford Type a Aortic Dissection

    Get PDF
Bicuspid aortic valve disease (BAV) is a congenital disease that frequently produces complications during adulthood, and is considered not only a problem of valvulogenesis, but also a more complex genetic alteration that involves the development of the heart and the aorta, which entails a high morbidity and mortality in these patients. In 50% of adults with this pathology, non-valvular anomalies are observed, with dilation of the ascending aorta being the most common. Genes such as NOTCH1, UFDL1, ACTA2, eNOS, among others, have been identified as responsible for the appearance of aneurysms, which increases the risk in these patients of complications such as aortic dissection and its subsequent rupture. Painless aortic dissection may be seen in less than 5% of patients and may have an atypical clinical presentation. A case and review of the literature is presented in which we can observe the great complexity of this pathology, in the case of a patient with BAV, annulo-ectatic dilation of the aortic root and ascending aorta who developed heart failure, syncope and presented as a complication Stanford type A aortic dissection, requiring highly specialized surgical treatment

Kinematics of gas and stars in the circumnuclear starforming ring of NGC 3351

We have measured gas and stellar velocity dispersions in 5 circumnuclear starforming regions (CNSFRs) and the nucleus of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 3351. The stellar dispersions have been obtained from high resolution spectra of the CaT lines at λλ\lambda\lambda 8494, 8542, 8662 \AA, while the gas velocity dispersions have been measured by Gaussian fits to the Hβ\beta λ\lambda 4861 \AA line on high dispersion spectra. The CNSFRs, with sizes of about 100 to 150 pc in diameter, are seen to be composed of several individual star clusters with sizes between 1.7 and 4.9 pc on an HST image. Using the stellar velocity dispersions, we have derived dynamical masses for the entire starforming complexes and for the individual star clusters. Values of the stellar velocity dispersions are between 39 and 67 km s1^{-1}. Dynamical masses for the whole CNSFRs are between 4.9 ×\times 106^6 and 4.3 ×\times 107^7 M_\odot and between 1.8 and 8.7 ×\times 106^6 M_\odot for the individual star clusters. Stellar and gas velocity dispersions are found to differ by about 20 km s1^{-1} with the Hβ\beta lines being narrower than both the stellar lines and the [O{\sc iii}] λ\lambda 5007 \AA lines. We have found indications for the presence of two different kinematical components in the ionised gas of the regions. The radial velocity curve shows deviation from circular motions for the ionised hydrogen consistent with its infall towards the central regions of the galaxy at a velocity of about 25 km s1^{-1}. To disentangle the origin of these two components it will be necessary to map these regions with high spectral and spatial resolution and much better S/N in particular for the O2+^{2+} lines.Comment: 17 pages, 13 figures, 7 tables - Accepted by MNRA

Intermediate Molecular Phenotypes to Identify Genetic Markers of Anthracycline-Induced Cardiotoxicity Risk.

Cardiotoxicity due to anthracyclines (CDA) affects cancer patients, but we cannot predict who may suffer from this complication. CDA is a complex trait with a polygenic component that is mainly unidentified. We propose that levels of intermediate molecular phenotypes (IMPs) in the myocardium associated with histopathological damage could explain CDA susceptibility, so variants of genes encoding these IMPs could identify patients susceptible to this complication. Thus, a genetically heterogeneous cohort of mice (n = 165) generated by backcrossing were treated with doxorubicin and docetaxel. We quantified heart fibrosis using an Ariol slide scanner and intramyocardial levels of IMPs using multiplex bead arrays and QPCR. We identified quantitative trait loci linked to IMPs (ipQTLs) and cdaQTLs via linkage analysis. In three cancer patient cohorts, CDA was quantified using echocardiography or Cardiac Magnetic Resonance. CDA behaves as a complex trait in the mouse cohort. IMP levels in the myocardium were associated with CDA. ipQTLs integrated into genetic models with cdaQTLs account for more CDA phenotypic variation than that explained by cda-QTLs alone. Allelic forms of genes encoding IMPs associated with CDA in mice, including AKT1, MAPK14, MAPK8, STAT3, CAS3, and TP53, are genetic determinants of CDA in patients. Two genetic risk scores for pediatric patients (n = 71) and women with breast cancer (n = 420) were generated using machine-learning Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression. Thus, IMPs associated with heart damage identify genetic markers of CDA risk, thereby allowing more personalized patient management.J.P.L.’s lab is sponsored by Grant PID2020-118527RB-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/ 501100011039; Grant PDC2021-121735-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011039 and by the “European Union Next Generation EU/PRTR”, the Regional Government of Castile and León (CSI144P20).
