    Improvement of Teamwork Nontechnical Skills Through Polytrauma Simulation Cases Using the Communication and Teamwork Skills (CATS) Assessment Tool

    Objective: To assess acquisition of nontechnical skills (NTS) through clinical simulation cases by healthcare personnel who participated in a Crisis Resource Management (CRM) training program for the initial care of polytraumatisms. Design: Pre-and postintervention study. Setting: Acute-care teaching hospital in Sabadell, Barcelona (Spain). Participants: Healthcare personnel that composed teamworks providing initial care to polytraumatized patients attended 12-hour simulation training using a SimMan 3G manikin and performed exercises corresponding to 3 clinical scenarios. All simulations lasted 15 to 25 min and were video recorded. The CATS Assessment tool was used for analysis of teamwork NTS, which included 21 behaviors clustered into the categories of coordination, situational awareness, cooperation, communication, and crisis situation. Results: Three editions of the CRM training course were carried out with 12 trauma team groups composed by team leader, anesthesiologist, general surgeon, traumatologist, registered nurses, nursing assistant, and stretcher bearer. There were statistically significant (p <0.001) improvements in the speed of key times of total duration of case resolution, transfusion of hemoderivatives, Focused Assessment Sonography for Trauma, and chest and pelvic X-rays. The percentage of cases correctly resolved improved from 75% to 91.7% but differences were not statistically significant (p = 0.625). Precourse and postcourse results of CATS scores showed a statistically significant increase in the weighted total score as well as in all behavioral categories of coordination, situational awareness, cooperation, communication, and crisis situation. Conclusions: Simulation-based training of NTS was associated with significant improvements in teamwork behaviors in the setting of the initial care of patients with polytraumatisms

    Efectividad de fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin en el control de (Oidium mangiferae Berthet) en mango (Mangifera indica L.) en el estado de Morelos, México

    El mango (Mangifera indica L.) es una de las frutas más demandadas en México, por su amplio valor comercial y su uso en la industria alimenticia, siendo susceptible a varias enfermedades en todas las etapas de su desarrollo. La cenicilla causada por el hongo (Oidium mangiferae Berthet) es una de las más importantes en este frutal, llegando a causar pérdidas hasta del 90% de la producción cuando incide en floración. El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar la efectividad biológica de (fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin) en el control de este agente patógeno en panículas de mango, variedad “Ataulfo”. El ensayo se realizó durante el año 2019, en el estado de Morelos, México. Se efectuaron tres aplicaciones sobre el cultivo a intervalos de 7 días, comparando tres tratamientos de la mezcla fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin (300, 350 y 400 mL ha-1), contra un testigo regional (benomilo) 60 g 100-1 L de agua y un control sin aplicación. La severidad y efectividad biológica del producto fueron registradas durante tres evaluaciones semanales. Como resultado, todas las dosis empleadas, lograron prevenir el desarrollo de la enfermedad en la etapa de floración. La dosis de 350 mL ha-1 tuvo un control absoluto del 100%, mientras que el testigo sin aplicación llegó a alcanzar 77,64% de infección. En todos los tratamientos se alcanzaron eficiencias biológicas superiores al 96%, lo que representa una combinación eficaz para la prevención del patógeno en este frutal

    Efficacy and safety of T-DM1 in the 'common-practice' of HER2+ advanced breast cancer setting: a multicenter study

    Ado-trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) is an antibody-drug conjugate approved for the treatment of patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive, metastatic breast cancer (mBC). The aim of this 'field-practice' study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of T-DM1, focusing on treatment line, previous lapatinib treatment and patterns of metastasis. Three hundred and three patients with HER2-positive mBC who received T-DM1 were identified by reviewing the medical records of 24 Italian Institutions. One hundred fourty-nine (49%) and 264 (87%) had received prior hormonal treatment and/or anti-HER2 targeted therapy, respectively. Particularly, 149 patients had been previously treated with lapatinib. The objective response rate (ORR) was 36.2%, and 44.5% when T-DM1 was administrated as second-line therapy. Considering only patients with liver metastases, the ORR was 44.4%. The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 7.0 months in the overall population, but it reached 9.0 and 12.0 months when TDM-1 was administered as second- and third-line treatment, respectively.In conclusion, in this 'real-word' study evaluating the effects of T-DM1 in patients with HER2-positive mBC who progressed on prior anti-HER2 therapies, we observed a clinically-relevant benefit in those who had received T-DM1 in early metastatic treatment-line and in subjects previously treated with lapatini

    Among vegetable oils, virgin olive oil (VOO) has nutritional and sensory characteristics that to make it unique and a basic component of the Mediterranean diet. The importance of VOO is mainly attributed both to its high content of oleic acid a balanced contribution quantity of polyunsaturated fatty acids and its richness in phenolic compounds, which act as natural antioxidants and may contribute to the prevention of several human diseases. The polar phenolic compounds of VOO belong to different classes: phenolic acids, phenyl ethyl alcohols, hydroxy-isochromans, flavonoids, lignans and secoiridoids. This latter family of compounds is characteristic of Oleaceae plants and secoiridoids are the main compounds of the phenolic fraction. Many agronomical and technological factors can affect the presence of phenols in VOO. Its shelf life is higher than other vegetable oils, mainly due to the presence of phenolic molecules having a catechol group, such as hydroxytyrosol and its secoiridoid derivatives. Several assays have been used to establish the antioxidant activity of these isolated phenolic compounds. Typical sensory gustative properties of VOO, such as bitterness and pungency, have been attributed to secoiridoid molecules. Considering the importance of the phenolic fraction of VOO, high performance analytical methods have been developed to characterize its complex phenolic pattern. The aim of this review is to realize a survey on phenolic compounds of virgin olive oils bearing in mind their chemical-analytical, healthy and sensory aspects.     El desarrollo de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) ha permitido el surgimiento de herramientas didácticas en el campo de la educación, proporcionando herramientas prácticas para apoyar a las clases presenciales. En este contexto, los sistemas electrónicos de respuesta estudiantil pueden ser útiles para introducir un elemento tecnológico motivador en las lecciones, así como una nueva metodología. En este estudio, además del uso de los sistemas de respuesta interactiva o clickers, se ha introducido la tecnología de aprendizaje móvil mediante la elaboración de una metodología de uso de las herramientas Kahoot y Telegram en la asignatura "Fundamentos Físicos en la Ingeniería II" del Grado en Ingeniería Electrónica Industrial. El Departamento de Física Aplicada de la Universidad de Córdoba tiene una amplia experiencia en el uso de Clickers en clases teóricas con grupos grandes para diferentes grados universitarios, pero ahora el uso de tecnologías móviles de aprendizaje se ha introducido en grupos de tamaño medio para clases prácticas. Usando esta nueva metodología, los estudiantes de grupos medianos realizan un cuestionario durante la lección de resolución de problemas, donde utilizaron sus conocimientos adquiridos durante la clase. La realización del cuestionario permite a los profesores evaluar en tiempo real el nivel del estudiante y utilizar la retroalimentación para abordar los problemas iniciales y los malentendidos. Los resultados muestran que los sistemas de respuesta interactiva son altamente valorados por los estudiantes, que lo perciben como una herramienta para mejorar el aprendizaje y aumentar la competencia en el aula.The development of information and communication technologies (ICT) has enabled the emergence of teaching tools in the education field, providing practical tools to support face-to-face classes. In this context, electronic student response systems can be useful for introducing a motivating technological element into the lessons, as well as a new methodology. In this study, in addition to the use of interactive response systems or clickers, mobile learning technology has been introduced by developing a methodology for using the Kahoot and Telegram tools in the subject “Physical Foundations of Engineering II” of Electronic Engineering Degree. Department of Applied Physics of University of Cordoba has a broad experience using Clickers in theory classes with large groups for different university degrees, but now the use of mobile learning technologies has been introduced in medium-sized groups for practical classes. Using this new methodology, students of medium-sized groups perform a quiz during the problem solving lesson, where they utilized their knowledge gained during the class. The completion of the quiz allows teachers to assess the student’s level in real time, and to use the feedback to address initial problems and misunderstandings. Results show the interactive response systems are highly valued by students, who perceive it as a tool to improve learning and increase competition in the classroom

    Standalone vertex finding in the ATLAS muon spectrometer

    A dedicated reconstruction algorithm to find decay vertices in the ATLAS muon spectrometer is presented. The algorithm searches the region just upstream of or inside the muon spectrometer volume for multi-particle vertices that originate from the decay of particles with long decay paths. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using both a sample of simulated Higgs boson events, in which the Higgs boson decays to long-lived neutral particles that in turn decay to bbar b final states, and pp collision data at √s = 7 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC during 2011

    Measurements of Higgs boson production and couplings in diboson final states with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

    Measurements are presented of production properties and couplings of the recently discovered Higgs boson using the decays into boson pairs, H →γ γ, H → Z Z∗ →4l and H →W W∗ →lνlν. The results are based on the complete pp collision data sample recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider at centre-of-mass energies of √s = 7 TeV and √s = 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 25 fb−1. Evidence for Higgs boson production through vector-boson fusion is reported. Results of combined fits probing Higgs boson couplings to fermions and bosons, as well as anomalous contributions to loop-induced production and decay modes, are presented. All measurements are consistent with expectations for the Standard Model Higgs boson

    Measurement of the top quark pair cross section with ATLAS in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV using final states with an electron or a muon and a hadronically decaying τ lepton

    A measurement of the cross section of top quark pair production in proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is reported. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.05 fb -1. Events with an isolated electron or muon and a τ lepton decaying hadronically are used. In addition, a large missing transverse momentum and two or more energetic jets are required. At least one of the jets must be identified as originating from a b quark. The measured cross section, σtt-=186±13(stat.)±20(syst.)±7(lumi.) pb, is in good agreement with the Standard Model prediction

    Hunt for new phenomena using large jet multiplicities and missing transverse momentum with ATLAS in 4.7 fb−1 of √s=7 TeV proton-proton collisions

    Results are presented of a search for new particles decaying to large numbers of jets in association with missing transverse momentum, using 4.7 fb−1 of pp collision data at s√=7TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in 2011. The event selection requires missing transverse momentum, no isolated electrons or muons, and from ≥6 to ≥9 jets. No evidence is found for physics beyond the Standard Model. The results are interpreted in the context of a MSUGRA/CMSSM supersymmetric model, where, for large universal scalar mass m 0, gluino masses smaller than 840 GeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level, extending previously published limits. Within a simplified model containing only a gluino octet and a neutralino, gluino masses smaller than 870 GeV are similarly excluded for neutralino masses below 100 GeV
