© 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.May soon be invented quantum computer and some known cryptosystems (such as RSA) will be threatened breaking. This paper is aimed at establishing necessary conditions for the maximum possible algebraic generalization of the classical RSA algorithm. We substitute ideals of a Dedekind ring for integers. Ideals in Dedekind rings allow the unique decomposition into a product of maximal ideals, but may not be the principal ideals. Also we define Euler’s ϕ-function for ideal of a Dedekind ring and describe some properties of this function. We hope that our proposed method will help to develop algorithms for encryption, which is hard to crack using a quantum computer

The use of hierarchy analysis in the diffusion of organization innovations

    Get PDF
The article describes the results of studies concerning innovation diffusion issues in organizations. The analysis showed that the main factors of innovation successful diffusion are: the corporate culture of an organization; a feedback between managers and performers; the amount of investments and the coverage of organization departments by innovations; sociocultural and institutional environment of an organization; the age and the position of the personnel involved in innovation diffusion; the individual characteristics of workers. The diffusion of innovations in an organization is provided by using three possible instruments: 1) the development of regulations, instructions, which oblige workers to participate in the implementation of innovations without the change of material and non-material motivation system; 2) the change of current material incentive system (wage organization); 3) the change of non-financial incentive system. We considered the use of the hierarchy analysis method (Saaty method) during the selection of possible innovation diffusion instruments in an organization. The most preferred tool is the use of organizational and administrative documents. The management develops regulations governing the staff conduct during the implementation of innovations. They are created for each organization department, for the categories of staff involved in the implementation of innovations. The use of hierarchy analysis method allows considering any number of criteria and indicators taken into account in the implementation of innovations in any organization

Genome-wide meta-analysis in alopecia areata resolves HLA associations and reveals two new susceptibility loci

    Get PDF
Alopecia areata (AA) is a prevalent autoimmune disease with 10 known susceptibility loci. Here we perform the first meta-analysis of research on AA by combining data from two genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and replication with supplemented ImmunoChip data for a total of 3,253 cases and 7,543 controls. The strongest region of association is the major histocompatibility complex, where we fine-map four independent effects, all implicating human leukocyte antigen-DR as a key aetiologic driver. Outside the major histocompatibility complex, we identify two novel loci that exceed the threshold of statistical significance, containing ACOXL/BCL2L11(BIM) (2q13); GARP (LRRC32) (11q13.5), as well as a third nominally significant region SH2B3(LNK)/ATXN2 (12q24.12). Candidate susceptibility gene expression analysis in these regions demonstrates expression in relevant immune cells and the hair follicle. We integrate our results with data from seven other autoimmune diseases and provide insight into the alignment of AA within these disorders. Our findings uncover new molecular pathways disrupted in AA, including autophagy/apoptosis, transforming growth factor beta/Tregs and JAK kinase signalling, and support the causal role of aberrant immune processes in AA

The epidemiology of traumatic event exposure worldwide: results from the World Mental Health Survey Consortium

    Get PDF
Background: Considerable research has documented that exposure to traumatic events has negative effects on physical and mental health. Much less research has examined the predictors of traumatic event exposure. Increased understanding of risk factors for exposure to traumatic events could be of considerable value in targeting preventive interventions and anticipating service needs. Method: General population surveys in 24 countries with a combined sample of 68 894 adult respondents across six continents assessed exposure to 29 traumatic event types. Differences in prevalence were examined with cross-tabulations. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to determine whether traumatic event types clustered into interpretable factors. Survival analysis was carried out to examine associations of sociodemographic characteristics and prior traumatic events with subsequent exposure. Results: Over 70% of respondents reported a traumatic event; 30.5% were exposed to four or more. Five types – witnessing death or serious injury, the unexpected death of a loved one, being mugged, being in a life-threatening automobile accident, and experiencing a life-threatening illness or injury – accounted for over half of all exposures. Exposure varied by country, sociodemographics and history of prior traumatic events. Being married was the most consistent protective factor. Exposure to interpersonal violence had the strongest associations with subsequent traumatic events. Conclusions: Given the near ubiquity of exposure, limited resources may best be dedicated to those that are more likely to be further exposed such as victims of interpersonal violence. Identifying mechanisms that account for the associations of prior interpersonal violence with subsequent trauma is critical to develop interventions to prevent revictimization

Biochemical analysis of the N-terminal domain of human RAD54B

The human RAD54B protein is a paralog of the RAD54 protein, which plays important roles in homologous recombination. RAD54B contains an N-terminal region outside the SWI2/SNF2 domain that shares less conservation with the corresponding region in RAD54. The biochemical roles of this region of RAD54B are not known, although the corresponding region in RAD54 is known to physically interact with RAD51. In the present study, we have biochemically characterized an N-terminal fragment of RAD54B, consisting of amino acid residues 26–225 (RAD54B26–225). This fragment formed a stable dimer in solution and bound to branched DNA structures. RAD54B26–225 also interacted with DMC1 in both the presence and absence of DNA. Ten DMC1 segments spanning the entire region of the DMC1 sequence were prepared, and two segments, containing amino acid residues 153–214 and 296–340, were found to directly bind to the N-terminal domain of RAD54B. A structural alignment of DMC1 with the Methanococcus voltae RadA protein, a homolog of DMC1 in the helical filament form, indicated that these RAD54B-binding sites are located near the ATP-binding site at the monomer–monomer interface in the DMC1 helical filament. Thus, RAD54B binding may affect the quaternary structure of DMC1. These observations suggest that the N-terminal domain of RAD54B plays multiple roles of in homologous recombination

Measurement of the cross-section and charge asymmetry of WW bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
This paper presents measurements of the W+μ+νW^+ \rightarrow \mu^+\nu and WμνW^- \rightarrow \mu^-\nu cross-sections and the associated charge asymmetry as a function of the absolute pseudorapidity of the decay muon. The data were collected in proton--proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 20.2~\mbox{fb^{-1}}. The precision of the cross-section measurements varies between 0.8% to 1.5% as a function of the pseudorapidity, excluding the 1.9% uncertainty on the integrated luminosity. The charge asymmetry is measured with an uncertainty between 0.002 and 0.003. The results are compared with predictions based on next-to-next-to-leading-order calculations with various parton distribution functions and have the sensitivity to discriminate between them.Comment: 38 pages in total, author list starting page 22, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to EPJC. Search for chargino-neutralino production with mass splittings near the electroweak scale in three-lepton final states in √s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for supersymmetry through the pair production of electroweakinos with mass splittings near the electroweak scale and decaying via on-shell W and Z bosons is presented for a three-lepton final state. The analyzed proton-proton collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of √s=13  TeV were collected between 2015 and 2018 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139  fb−1. A search, emulating the recursive jigsaw reconstruction technique with easily reproducible laboratory-frame variables, is performed. The two excesses observed in the 2015–2016 data recursive jigsaw analysis in the low-mass three-lepton phase space are reproduced. Results with the full data set are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations. They are interpreted to set exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level on simplified models of chargino-neutralino pair production for masses up to 345 GeV

Search for direct stau production in events with two hadronic tau-leptons in root s=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for the direct production of the supersymmetric partners ofτ-leptons (staus) in final stateswith two hadronically decayingτ-leptons is presented. The analysis uses a dataset of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of139fb−1, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LargeHadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant deviation from the expected StandardModel background is observed. Limits are derived in scenarios of direct production of stau pairs with eachstau decaying into the stable lightest neutralino and oneτ-lepton in simplified models where the two staumass eigenstates are degenerate. Stau masses from 120 GeV to 390 GeV are excluded at 95% confidencelevel for a massless lightest neutralino
