    Death Due To Traumatic Asphyxia in Varanasi Region, India

    Background: Traumatic asphyxia occurs when a powerful compressive force is applied to the thoracic cavity. This is most often observed in motor vehicle accidents, industrial and farming accidents, as well as the collapse of bridges, mansions, and during stampedes.Methods: During the period of October 2016 to May 2018, 33 cases of traumatic asphyxia were recorded in the Varanasi district autopsy center, i.e. the Department of Forensic Medicine, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Utter Pradesh State, India. We conducted a prospective study on these incidents. Results: The incidence of traumatic asphyxia is irrespective of gender. However, men are more viable to it due to their outdoor activities. In the present study, males outnumbered females in the distribution of cases. The external and internal features in combination were congestion 26(78.8%), cyanosis 25(75.0%), and subconjunctival hemorrhage 10(30.3%). In the internal examination, rib fracture with flail chest was recorded in 5(15.2%) cases.Conclusion: Accidental death as a result of traumatic asphyxia is a major contributing factor to violent asphyxia. It results in asphyxia due to the compression of the chest by an external powerful compressive force

    ARDUINO based Approach to Provide Optimum Conditions for Indoor Cultivation

    This work describes a framework to provide an optimum environment for indoor cultivation. The optimum conditions like temperature, soil moisture and solar radiation can be controlled by using an ARDUINO microcontroller. The system is basically aclosed loop system where the gathered data from the sensors (say measure data) will be compared with the user data(which is set by user and can be incremented or decremented through switches). If both the data i.e., user data and measured data are same, then the controllers will not execute. The controllers will execute the control action only if the user data and measured data have different readings so that these controllers can adjust for optimum environment (temperature, soil moisture and solar radiation). An LCD is provided to display both the readings. The indoor cultivation system consists of both hardware and software. Hardware includes microcontroller, temperature sensor(LM35), soil moisture sensor, an LDR sensor, anLCD, a relay, a halogen light, a water pump, solar radiation controller,a fan and switches.     Reliability Analysis of Radiation Tolerant Low Voltage CCCII Circuit For Space Applications

    In this paper, the impact of radiation on the MOS devices is investigated on recently reported programmablesecond generation Current Controlled Conveyor (CCCII) wherein some updates are suggested to take Hot Carrier Injection, Bias Temperature Instability, and Time Dependent Dielectric Breakdown into account. As radiation is yet another important factor that causes change in threshold voltage, the transistors which are amenable to larger threshold shift and may lead to functional failure are identified first. Subsequently, three possibilities; uses of all thin oxide devices, all thick oxide devices, and mixed devices are being investigate and it is found that while using mixed devices, the circuit becomes functional at lower voltage without any effective increase in leakage current. Architecture is updated to enhance the performance of circuits under time-based ageing and radiation environment. The major challenge is to control dynamic leakage and radiative noise due to imposed radiation. All simulations are carried out using 28nm CMOS technology models in Cadence Virtuoso environment using ±1.0V supply voltage and results have been verified with post layout netlist. Proposed circuit can function at low voltage with the reduced degradation for 8 years at 25 °C consumes less area as compared to the existing CCCII circuit with 0.008 FIT value

    Thespesialampas mediated green synthesis of silver and gold nanoparticles for enhanced biological applications

    The present study investigated the synthesis and biological applications of green, economical, and multifunctional silver and gold nanoparticles (TSAgNPs and TSAuNPs) using the ethnomedical important medicinal plant Thespesia lampas for biological activities. Relatively higher levels of antioxidant components were measured in T. lampas compared to the well-known Adhatoda vasica, and Diplocyclos palmatus suggested the potential of T. lampas for the study. Synthesized TSAgNPs and TSAuNPs were characterized through UV–Vis, XRD, SEM-EDS, HR-TEM, SAED, and FTIR techniques. SEM revealed that TSAgNPs and TSAuNPs were predominantly spherical in shape with 19 ± 7.3 and 43 ± 6.3 nm crystal sizes. The sizes of TSAgNPs and TSAuNPs were found to be12 ± 4.8 and 45 ± 2.9 nm, respectively, according to TEM measurements. The FTIR and phytochemical analyses revealed that the polyphenols and proteins present in T. lampas may act as bio-reducing and stabilizing agents for the synthesis. Synthesized NPs exhibited enhanced scavenging properties for ABTS and DPPH radicals. TSAgNPs and TSAuNPs were able to protect DNA nicking up to 13.48% and 15.38%, respectively, from oxidative stress. TSAgNPs possessed efficient antibacterial activities in a concentration-dependent manner against human pathogenic bacteria, such as E. coli, B. subtilis, P. vulgaris, and S. typhi. Furthermore, TSAgNPs and TSAuNPs showed significant cytotoxicity against FaDu HNSCC grown in 2D at 50 and 100 μg mL−1. Tumor inhibitory effects on FaDu-derived spheroid were significant for TSAgNPs > TSAuNPs at 100 μg mL−1 in 3D conditions. Dead cells were highest largely for TSAgNPs (76.65% ± 1.76%), while TSAuNPs were non-significant, and Saq was ineffectively compared with the control. However, the diameter of the spheroid drastically reduced for TSAgNPs (3.94 folds) followed by TSAuNPs (2.58 folds), Saq (1.94 folds), and cisplatin (1.83 folds) at 100 μg mL−1. The findings of the study suggested the bio-competence of TSAgNPs and TSAuNPs as multi-responsive agents for antioxidants, DNA protection, antibacterial, and anti-tumor activities to provide a better comprehension of the role of phytogenic nanoparticles in healthcare systems

    Production of He-4 and (4) in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=2.76 TeV at the LHC

    Results on the production of He-4 and (4) nuclei in Pb-Pb collisions at root(NN)-N-S = 2.76 TeV in the rapidity range vertical bar y vertical bar <1, using the ALICE detector, are presented in this paper. The rapidity densities corresponding to 0-10% central events are found to be dN/dy4(He) = (0.8 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.3 (syst)) x 10(-6) and dN/dy4 = (1.1 +/- 0.4 (stat) +/- 0.2 (syst)) x 10(-6), respectively. This is in agreement with the statistical thermal model expectation assuming the same chemical freeze-out temperature (T-chem = 156 MeV) as for light hadrons. The measured ratio of (4)/He-4 is 1.4 +/- 0.8 (stat) +/- 0.5 (syst). (C) 2018 Published by Elsevier B.V.Peer reviewe

    “So what if ChatGPT wrote it?” Multidisciplinary perspectives on opportunities, challenges and implications of generative conversational AI for research, practice and policy

    Transformative artificially intelligent tools, such as ChatGPT, designed to generate sophisticated text indistinguishable from that produced by a human, are applicable across a wide range of contexts. The technology presents opportunities as well as, often ethical and legal, challenges, and has the potential for both positive and negative impacts for organisations, society, and individuals. Offering multi-disciplinary insight into some of these, this article brings together 43 contributions from experts in fields such as computer science, marketing, information systems, education, policy, hospitality and tourism, management, publishing, and nursing. The contributors acknowledge ChatGPT’s capabilities to enhance productivity and suggest that it is likely to offer significant gains in the banking, hospitality and tourism, and information technology industries, and enhance business activities, such as management and marketing. Nevertheless, they also consider its limitations, disruptions to practices, threats to privacy and security, and consequences of biases, misuse, and misinformation. However, opinion is split on whether ChatGPT’s use should be restricted or legislated. Drawing on these contributions, the article identifies questions requiring further research across three thematic areas: knowledge, transparency, and ethics; digital transformation of organisations and societies; and teaching, learning, and scholarly research. The avenues for further research include: identifying skills, resources, and capabilities needed to handle generative AI; examining biases of generative AI attributable to training datasets and processes; exploring business and societal contexts best suited for generative AI implementation; determining optimal combinations of human and generative AI for various tasks; identifying ways to assess accuracy of text produced by generative AI; and uncovering the ethical and legal issues in using generative AI across different contexts
