O corpo como conteúdo de ensino da educação física escolar

do Centro-Oeste (UNICENTRO). O projeto em questão, focado no trabalho pedagógico com o tema
corpo na Educação Física escolar, é realizado no Colégio Estadual São Vicente de Paulo, Irati- PR. A
partir dos aportes teóricos da cultura corporal foram propostas intervenções pedagógicas que tomaram
o corpo como dimensão da existência humana que precisa ser tematizada e valorizada nas aulas de
Educação Física. As intervenções possibilitaram a ampliação dos saberes dos alunos sobre o tema
“corpo”, bem como a participação efetiva dos mesmos nas atividades propostas, alcançando os
objetivos inicialmente propostos no projet
Wildbook: Crowdsourcing, computer vision, and data science for conservation
Photographs, taken by field scientists, tourists, automated cameras, and
incidental photographers, are the most abundant source of data on wildlife
today. Wildbook is an autonomous computational system that starts from massive
collections of images and, by detecting various species of animals and
identifying individuals, combined with sophisticated data management, turns
them into high resolution information database, enabling scientific inquiry,
conservation, and citizen science.
We have built Wildbooks for whales (flukebook.org), sharks (whaleshark.org),
two species of zebras (Grevy's and plains), and several others. In January
2016, Wildbook enabled the first ever full species (the endangered Grevy's
zebra) census using photographs taken by ordinary citizens in Kenya. The
resulting numbers are now the official species census used by IUCN Red List:
http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/7950/0. In 2016, Wildbook partnered up with
WWF to build Wildbook for Sea Turtles, Internet of Turtles (IoT), as well as
systems for seals and lynx. Most recently, we have demonstrated that we can now
use publicly available social media images to count and track wild animals.
In this paper we present and discuss both the impact and challenges that the
use of crowdsourced images can have on wildlife conservation.Comment: Presented at the Data For Good Exchange 201
Oxygen isotopic ratios in galactic clouds along the line of sight towards Sagittarius B2
As an independent check on previous measurements of the isotopic abundance of
oxygen through the Galaxy, we present a detailed analysis of the ground state
rotational lines of 16OH and 18OH in absorption towards the giant molecular
cloud complex, Sagittarius B2. We have modelled the line shapes to separate the
contribution of several galactic clouds along the line of sight and calculate
16OH/18OH ratios for each of these features. The best fitting values are in the
range 320-540, consistent with the previous measurements in the Galactic Disk
but slightly higher than the standard ratio in the Galactic Centre. They do not
show clear evidence for a gradient in the isotopic ratio with galactocentric
distance. The individual 16OH column densities relative to water give ratios of
[H2O/OH]=0.6-1.2, similar in magnitude to galactic clouds in the sight lines
towards W51 and W49. A comparison with CH indicates [OH/CH] ratios higher than
has been previously observed in diffuse clouds. We estimate OH abundances of

Evolution of Melanopsin Photoreceptors: Discovery and Characterization of a New Melanopsin in Nonmammalian Vertebrates
In mammals, the melanopsin gene (Opn4) encodes a sensory photopigment that underpins newly discovered inner retinal photoreceptors. Since its first discovery in Xenopus laevis and subsequent description in humans and mice, melanopsin genes have been described in all vertebrate classes. Until now, all of these sequences have been considered representatives of a single orthologous gene (albeit with duplications in the teleost fish). Here, we describe the discovery and functional characterisation of a new melanopsin gene in fish, bird, and amphibian genomes, demonstrating that, in fact, the vertebrates have evolved two quite separate melanopsins. On the basis of sequence similarity, chromosomal localisation, and phylogeny, we identify our new melanopsins as the true orthologs of the melanopsin gene previously described in mammals and term this grouping Opn4m. By contrast, the previously published melanopsin genes in nonmammalian vertebrates represent a separate branch of the melanopsin family which we term Opn4x. RT-PCR analysis in chicken, zebrafish, and Xenopus identifies expression of both Opn4m and Opn4x genes in tissues known to be photosensitive (eye, brain, and skin). In the day-14 chicken eye, Opn4m mRNA is found in a subset of cells in the outer nuclear, inner nuclear, and ganglion cell layers, the vast majority of which also express Opn4x. Importantly, we show that a representative of the new melanopsins (chicken Opn4m) encodes a photosensory pigment capable of activating G protein signalling cascades in a light- and retinaldehyde-dependent manner under heterologous expression in Neuro-2a cells. A comprehensive in silico analysis of vertebrate genomes indicates that while most vertebrate species have both Opn4m and Opn4x genes, the latter is absent from eutherian and, possibly, marsupial mammals, lost in the course of their evolution as a result of chromosomal reorganisation. Thus, our findings show for the first time that nonmammalian vertebrates retain two quite separate melanopsin genes, while mammals have just one. These data raise important questions regarding the functional differences between Opn4x and Opn4m pigments, the associated adaptive advantages for most vertebrate species in retaining both melanopsins, and the implications for mammalian biology of lacking Opn4x
Ab-initio structural, elastic, and vibrational properties of carbon nanotubes
A study based on ab initio calculations is presented on the estructural,
elastic, and vibrational properties of single-wall carbon nanotubes with
different radii and chiralities. We use SIESTA, an implementation of
pseudopotential-density-functional theory which allows calculations on systems
with a large number of atoms per cell. Different quantities like bond
distances, Young moduli, Poisson ratio and the frequencies of different phonon
branches are monitored versus tube radius. The validity of expectations based
on graphite is explored down to small radii, where some deviations appear
related to the curvature effects. For the phonon spectra, the results are
compared with the predictions of the simple zone-folding approximation. Except
for the known defficiencies of this approximation in the low-frequency
vibrational regions, it offers quite accurate results, even for relatively

Malaria and other febrile diseases among travellers: the experience of a reference centre located outside the Brazilian Amazon Region

Malaria is endemic in countries located in tropical and sub-tropical regions. The increasing flow of domestic and international travellers has made malaria a relevant health problem even in non-endemic regions. Malaria has been described as the main diagnosis among travellers presenting febrile diseases after returning from tropical countries. In Brazil, malaria transmission occurs mainly in the Amazon region. Outside this area, malaria transmission is of low magnitude.\ud

This cross-sectional study aimed to describe the experience in the diagnosis of malaria in a reference centre located outside the Brazilian Amazon Region, emphasizing the differences in clinical and laboratory markers between cases of malaria and those of other febrile diseases (OFD). Medical charts from adult patients (≥18 years) who underwent a thick smear test (TST) for malaria, between January 2001 and December 2014, were retrospectively reviewed.\ud

A total of 458 cases referred to perform the TST were included. Malaria was diagnosed in 193 (42 %) episodes. The remaining 265 episodes (58 %) were grouped as OFD. The majority of malaria episodes were acquired in the Brazilian Amazon Region. The median time between the onset of symptoms and the TST was 7 days. Only 53 (11.5 %) episodes were tested within the first 48 h after symptom onset. Comparing malaria with OFD, jaundice, nausea, vomiting, and reports of fever were more prevalent in the malaria group. Low platelet count and elevated bilirubin levels were also related to the diagnosis of malaria.\ud

The results indicate that outside the endemic area travellers presenting febrile disease suspected of being malaria underwent diagnostic test after considerable delay. The reporting of fever combined with a recent visit to an endemic area should promptly evoke the hypothesis of malaria. In these cases, specific diagnostic tests for malaria should be a priority. For cases that jump this step, the presence of elevated bilirubin or thrombocytopaenia should also indicate a diagnosis of malaria.This work was supported by the Grant # 2014/05337-6, São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP)
Measurement of the Atmospheric Muon Charge Ratio at TeV Energies with MINOS
The 5.4 kton MINOS far detector has been taking charge-separated cosmic ray
muon data since the beginning of August, 2003 at a depth of 2070
meters-water-equivalent in the Soudan Underground Laboratory, Minnesota, USA.
The data with both forward and reversed magnetic field running configurations
were combined to minimize systematic errors in the determination of the
underground muon charge ratio. When averaged, two independent analyses find the
charge ratio underground to be 1.374 +/- 0.004 (stat.) +0.012 -0.010(sys.).
Using the map of the Soudan rock overburden, the muon momenta as measured
underground were projected to the corresponding values at the surface in the
energy range 1-7 TeV. Within this range of energies at the surface, the MINOS
data are consistent with the charge ratio being energy independent at the two
standard deviation level. When the MINOS results are compared with measurements
at lower energies, a clear rise in the charge ratio in the energy range 0.3 --
1.0 TeV is apparent. A qualitative model shows that the rise is consistent with
an increasing contribution of kaon decays to the muon charge ratio.Comment: 16 pages, 17 figure
Projection of Indian summer monsoon climate in 2041–2060 by multiregional and global climate models
Using the results from three global climate models (GCMs) and seven regional climate models (RCMs), summer monsoon climate changes during 2041–2060 over Indian Peninsula are projected based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change A1B emission scenario. For the control climate of 1981–2000, most nested RCMs can improve the temporal-spatial distributions of temperature and precipitation over Indian Peninsula compared to the driving GCM of European Centre/Hamburg Fifth Generation (ECHAM5). Most nested RCMs produce advanced monsoon onset for control climate, which is similar to the result of driving GCM of ECHAM5. For future climate widespread summer warming is projected over Indian Peninsula by all climate models, with the Multi-RCMs ensemble mean (MME) temperature increasing of 1°C to 2.5°C and the maximum warming center located in northern Indian Peninsula. The disagreement in precipitation changes projected by RCMs indicates that the surface climate change on regional scale is not only dominated by the large-scale forcing which is provided by driving GCM but also sensitive to RCM\u27 internal physics. Overall, wetter condition is shown in MME with significant increase of monsoon rainfall over southern India, with intermodel spread ranging from −8.9% to 14.8%. Driven by same GCM, most RCMs project advanced monsoon onset while delayed onset is found in two Regional Climate Model (RegCM3) projections, indicating uncertainty can be expected in the Indian Summer Monsoon onset. All climate models except Conformal-Cubic Atmospheric Model with equal resolution (referred as CCAMP) and two RegCM3 models project stronger summer monsoon during 2041–2060
Effects of antiplatelet therapy on stroke risk by brain imaging features of intracerebral haemorrhage and cerebral small vessel diseases: subgroup analyses of the RESTART randomised, open-label trial
Background
Findings from the RESTART trial suggest that starting antiplatelet therapy might reduce the risk of recurrent symptomatic intracerebral haemorrhage compared with avoiding antiplatelet therapy. Brain imaging features of intracerebral haemorrhage and cerebral small vessel diseases (such as cerebral microbleeds) are associated with greater risks of recurrent intracerebral haemorrhage. We did subgroup analyses of the RESTART trial to explore whether these brain imaging features modify the effects of antiplatelet therapy
