    The Influence of Neighbourhood Environment on Airbnb: a Geographically Weighed Regression Analysis

    Sharing accommodation has emerged recently as a new business model in the accommodation sector. Due to the potential gentrification Airbnb might bring to an area, it is critical to understand the spatial patterns of sharing economy and its possible determinants. The neighbourhood environment has proven to be an important factor in the traditional hotel business, and whether it is the same for sharing accommodation is worth investigating. In this study, location data of 29,780 houses/apartments on Airbnb.com in London was collected. Using Ordinal Least Square and Geography Weighed Regression analysis, the spatial distribution features of Airbnb and its relationship with neighbourhood environment in London were explored. The results show that sharing accommodation is mainly located in the city centre and around tourist attractions. Neighbourhood elements such as Water, Vegetation Coverage, Art & Human Landscape, Travel & Transport, University, Nightlife Spot emerged as important factors influencing Airbnb. In addition, the distribution of Airbnb in London is spatially non-stationary, in some areas high Airbnb is associated with higher transportation accessibility, in other areas, high Airbnb is associated with more attractions or nightlife spots, suggesting that the role of different factors varies in different regions, proving Tobler’s first law of geography

Time:October 25, 2011 - October 28, 2011.A series of Ce3+, Mn2+ codoped BaxSr yLizSiO4:Ce3+, Mn2+ phosphors were synthesized by partially liquid-phase method. The effects of Ba/Sr ratio, Ce/Mn ratio and lithium content on the emission spectra of the BaxSryLizSiO4:Ce3+, Mn2+ (BSLS:Ce, Mn) phosphors were investigated in details, which showed blue emission around 410nm wavelength and red emission at about 620nm wavelength, respectively. With the increasing of Sr/Ba ratio, the color of BSLS:Ce, Mn was changed from orange to red. However, the intensity of blue emission was reduced and red emission was enhanced with an incensement of Mn/Ce ratio. The strongest intensity of emission for the phosphor was obtained at Li content of 15 mol%. ? 2011 IEEE

    Two Lysines in the Forkhead Domain of Foxp3 Are Key to T Regulatory Cell Function

    Background: The forkhead box transcription factor, Foxp3, is master regulator of the development and function of CD4+CD25+ T regulatory (Treg) cells that limit autoimmunity and maintain immune homeostasis. The carboxyl-terminal forkhead (FKH) domain is required for the nuclear localization and DNA binding of Foxp3. We assessed how individual FKH lysines contribute to the functions of Foxp3 in Treg cells. Methodology/Principal Findings: We found that mutation of FKH lysines at position 382 (K17) and at position 393 (K18) impaired Foxp3 DNA binding and inhibited Treg suppressive function in vivo and in vitro. These lysine mutations did not affect the level of expression of Foxp3 but inhibited IL-2 promoter remodeling and had important and differing effects on Treg-associated gene expression. Conclusions/Significance: These data point to complex effects of post-translational modifications at individual lysines within the Foxp3 FKH domain that affect Treg function.     Search for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

    A search for weakly interacting massive particle dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks is presented. Final states containing third-generation quarks and miss- ing transverse momentum are considered. The analysis uses 36.1 fb−1 of proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment at √s = 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016. No significant excess of events above the estimated backgrounds is observed. The results are in- terpreted in the framework of simplified models of spin-0 dark-matter mediators. For colour- neutral spin-0 mediators produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a pair of dark-matter particles, mediator masses below 50 GeV are excluded assuming a dark-matter candidate mass of 1 GeV and unitary couplings. For scalar and pseudoscalar mediators produced in association with bottom quarks, the search sets limits on the production cross- section of 300 times the predicted rate for mediators with masses between 10 and 50 GeV and assuming a dark-matter mass of 1 GeV and unitary coupling. Constraints on colour- charged scalar simplified models are also presented. Assuming a dark-matter particle mass of 35 GeV, mediator particles with mass below 1.1 TeV are excluded for couplings yielding a dark-matter relic density consistent with measurements

    A data driven approach to guest experiences and satisfaction in sharing

    Accommodation sharing provides unique experiences for tourists. This study collects 33,892 guest reviews of Airbnb. A text analytic approach to deconstruct the nature of sharing experience is explored. The data driven approach extracts the following dimensions contributing to the core experiences of sharing, namely, housing, location, host-guest interaction, facility, overall sensation and others. A regression analysis further demonstrates a strong association between attributes of sharing experiences and guest satisfaction. Factors such as room facilities and home experience convey different semantic space and significantly affect guest satisfaction. Indeed, room facilities and home experience have been extracted as hygiene factor and motivator, confirming the two factor theory
