Predictors of self-perceived stigma in Parkinson’s disease
OBJECTIVE: The burden of PD extends beyond physical limitations and includes significant psychosocial adjustments as individuals undergo changes to their self-perception and how others perceive them. There is limited quantitative evidence of the factors that contribute to self-perceived stigma, which we addressed in the present study.
METHODS: In 362 individuals with PD (157 women, 205 men), self-perceived stigma was measured by the four-item stigma subscale of the Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39). Hierarchical linear modeling was used to assess predictors of stigma including demographics (age, gender) and disease characteristics: duration, stage (Hoehn & Yahr Scale), motor severity (Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale, UPDRS, Part 3), activities of daily living (UPDRS Part 2), and depression (Geriatric Depression Scale). Predictor variables were chosen based on their significant correlations with the stigma subscale. Further analyses were conducted for men and women separately.
RESULTS: For the total sample, the full model accounted for 14% of the variance in stigma perception (p < .001). Younger age and higher depression scores were the only significant predictors (both p < .001). This pattern was also seen for the men in the sample. For the women, only depression was a significant predictor. Depression mediated the relation between stigma and activities of daily living.
CONCLUSIONS: Younger age (men) and depression (men and women) were the primary predictors of self-perceived stigma in PD. Disease characteristics (motor and ADL) did not contribute to stigma perception. Depression is a potential treatment target for self-perceived stigma in PD.Agmt dtd 6-19-2015 - American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc.Accepted manuscrip
Measurement of the ratio B(D0->pi+pi-pi0)/B(D0->K-pi+pi0) and the time-integrated CP asymmetry in D0->pi+pi-pi0
We report a high-statistics measurement of the relative branching fraction
B(D0->pi+pi-pi0)/B(D0->K-pi+pi0) using a 532 fb^{-1} data sample collected with
the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The measured
value of the relative branching fraction is B(D0->pi+pi-pi0)/B(D0->K-pi+pi0) =
(10.12 +/- 0.04(stat) +/- 0.18(syst))x10^{-2} which has an accuracy comparable
to the world average. We also present a measurement of the time-integrated CP
asymmetry in D0->pi+pi-pi0 decay. The result, A_{CP} = (0.43 +/- 1.30)%, shows
no significant CP violation.Comment: 15 pages, 11 figures, submitted to Physics Letters
Measurement of CP asymmetry in Cabibbo suppressed D0 decays
We measure the CP-violating asymmetries in decays to the D0 -> K+K- and D0 ->
pi+pi- CP eigenstates using 540 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle
detector at or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance. Cabibbo-favored D0 -> K-pi+
decays are used to correct for systematic detector effects. The results,
A_{CP}^{KK} = (-0.43 +- 0.30 +- 0.11)% and A_{CP}^{pipi} = (+0.43 +- 0.52 +-
0.12)%, are consistent with no CP violation.Comment: Submitted to Phys. Lett.
Measurement of the Branching Fraction for B->eta' K and Search for B->eta'pi+
We report measurements for two-body charmless B decays with an eta' meson in
the final state. Using 11.1X10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector,
we find BF(B^+ ->eta'K^+)=(79^+12_-11 +-9)x10^-6 and BF(B^0 ->
eta'K^0)=(55^+19_-16 +-8)x10^-6, where the first and second errors are
statistical and systematic, respectively. No signal is observed in the mode B^+
-> eta' pi^+, and we set a 90% confidence level upper limit of BF(B^+->
eta'pi^+) eta'K^+- decays is
investigated and a limit at 90% confidence level of -0.20<Acp<0.32 is obtained.Comment: Submitted to Physics Letters
Study of \Omega_c^0 and \Omega_c^{*0} Baryons at Belle
We report results from a study of the charmed double strange baryons
\Omega_c^0 and \Omega_c^{*0} at Belle. The \Omega_c^0 is reconstructed using
the \Omega_c^0 --> \Omega^- \pi^+ decay mode, and its mass is measured to be
(2693.6 \pm 0.3 {+1.8 \atop -1.5}) MeV/c^2. The \Omega_c^{*0} baryon is
reconstructed in the \Omega_c^0 \gamma mode. The mass difference
M_{\Omega_c^{*0}} - M_{\Omega_c^0} is measured to be (70.7 \pm 0.9 {+0.1 \atop
-0.9}) MeV/c^2. The analysis is performed using 673 fb^{-1} of data on and near
the \Upsilon(4S) collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB
asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, prepared for 34th International Conference on

Search for the Xb and other hidden-beauty states in the π+π−ϒ(1S) channel at ATLAS
This Letter presents a search for a hidden-beauty counterpart of the X(3872) in the mass ranges of 10.05–10.31 GeV and 10.40–11.00 GeV, in the channel Xb→π+π−ϒ(1S)(→μ+μ−), using 16.2 fb−1 of pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. No evidence for new narrow states is found, and upper limits are set on the product of the Xb cross section and branching fraction, relative to those of the ϒ(2S), at the 95% confidence level using the CLS approach. These limits range from 0.8% to 4.0%, depending on mass. For masses above 10.1 GeV, the expected upper limits from this analysis are the most restrictive to date. Searches for production of the ϒ(13DJ), , and states also reveal no significant signals
Point View in Bird and Flower Painting
The “point view” is extremely important as a means of expression in the traditional Chinese painting.
