Developing search strategies for clinical practice guidelines in SUMSearch and Google Scholar and assessing their retrieval performance
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Information overload, increasing time constraints, and inappropriate search strategies complicate the detection of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). The aim of this study was to provide clinicians with recommendations for search strategies to efficiently identify relevant CPGs in SUMSearch and Google Scholar.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>We compared the retrieval efficiency (retrieval performance) of search strategies to identify CPGs in SUMSearch and Google Scholar. For this purpose, a two-term GLAD (GuideLine And Disease) strategy was developed, combining a defined CPG term with a specific disease term (MeSH term). We used three different CPG terms and nine MeSH terms for nine selected diseases to identify the most efficient GLAD strategy for each search engine. The retrievals for the nine diseases were pooled. To compare GLAD strategies, we used a manual review of all retrievals as a reference standard. The CPGs detected had to fulfil predefined criteria, e.g., the inclusion of therapeutic recommendations. Retrieval performance was evaluated by calculating so-called diagnostic parameters (sensitivity, specificity, and "Number Needed to Read" [NNR]) for search strategies.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The search yielded a total of 2830 retrievals; 987 (34.9%) in Google Scholar and 1843 (65.1%) in SUMSearch. Altogether, we found 119 unique and relevant guidelines for nine diseases (reference standard). Overall, the GLAD strategies showed a better retrieval performance in SUMSearch than in Google Scholar. The performance pattern between search engines was similar: search strategies including the term "guideline" yielded the highest sensitivity (SUMSearch: 81.5%; Google Scholar: 31.9%), and search strategies including the term "practice guideline" yielded the highest specificity (SUMSearch: 89.5%; Google Scholar: 95.7%), and the lowest NNR (SUMSearch: 7.0; Google Scholar: 9.3).</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>SUMSearch is a useful tool to swiftly gain an overview of available CPGs. Its retrieval performance is superior to that of Google Scholar, where a search is more time consuming, as substantially more retrievals have to be reviewed to detect one relevant CPG. In both search engines, the CPG term "guideline" should be used to obtain a comprehensive overview of CPGs, and the term "practice guideline" should be used if a less time consuming approach for the detection of CPGs is desired.</p
Empathy and psychopathology in children and adolescents: the role of parental mental illness and emotion regulation
ObjectiveAlthough empathy is known to be a strength, recent studies suggest that empathy can be a risk factor for psychopathology under certain conditions in children. This study examines parental mental illness as such a condition. Further, it aims to investigate whether maladaptive emotion regulation (ER) mediates the relationship between empathy and psychopathological symptoms of children.MethodsParticipants were 100 children of parents with a mental illness (55% female) and 87 children of parents without a mental illness (50% female) aged 6 - 16 years and their parents.ResultsGreater cognitive empathy was related to more psychopathological symptoms in COPMI, but not in COPWMI. In addition, in COPMI maladaptive ER mediated this relationship. In contrast, greater affective empathy was associated with more psychopathological symptoms regardless of whether parents had a mental illness.ConclusionOur findings highlight the importance of implementing preventive programs for COPMI that specifically target the reduction of maladaptive ER

The coexistence between the Sami People and the mining industry in Norrbotten, Sweden : The Case of H2 Green Steel
Under the arctic circle in Boden, Sweden, H2 Green Steel, a carbon-neutral steel processing company, plans to build one of the most innovative sustainable steel mills in Europe. Boden is located in Norrbotten, the northernmost county in Sweden and home to the Sami people. The Indigenous group and one of Sweden's minorities have lived in this area for more than a thousand years. Their traditions like reindeer herding have survived to the present day. The Sami have suffered different injustices since establishing national borders, including those committed by the mining industry. This thesis uses an ethnographical approach to examine the coexistence between the Sami People and the mining industry. David Schlosberg's Environmental Justice Theory is applied to identify and detect environmental justice principles in the case of H2 Green Steel. The goal of this study is to identify ways for both groups to coexist in a more sustainable manner. The study illustrates several views from different stakeholders. It shows that the mining industry has the potential to minimize injustice to the Sami community and to protect the environment through effective measures. La compañía planea ser CO2 neutral en su operación, aparte de construir una de las fábricas de acero más innovadoras de Europa. Boden se encuentra en Norrbotten, el condado más septentrional de Suecia, hogar también de los Sami, un Grupo Indígena y una de las minorías de Suecia. Los Sami han vivido en la zona durante más de mil años y sus tradiciones, como el pastoreo de renos, se siguen practicando en la actualidad. Los Sami han sufrido diferentes injusticias desde el establecimiento de las fronteras nacionales de los países nórdicos, entre ellas las cometidas por la industria minera. Esta tesis utiliza un enfoque etnográfico para examinar la coexistencia entre el pueblo Sami y la industria minera. Se aplica la teoría de la justicia ambiental de David Schlosberg para identificar y detectar los factores de justicia ambiental en el caso de H2 Green Steel, y la industria minera en general. El objetivo es estudiar si hay una manera de que ambos grupos coexistan de forma más sostenible. El estudio ilustra varios puntos de vista de diferentes actores involucrados, y muestra que la industria minera tiene el potencial de minimizar las injusticias con las comunidades locales, el pueblo Sami y además de proteger el medio ambiente con medidas eficaces. Boden liegt in Norrbotten, dem nördlichsten Bezirk Schwedens und Heimat der Sami. Diese indigene Gruppe gehört zu den schwedischen Minderheiten und lebt seit mehr als tausend Jahren in diesem Gebiet. Ihre Traditionen wie die Rentierzucht sind bis heute erhlaten geblieben. Seit der Festlegung der nationalen Grenzen haben die Sami unter verschiedenen Ungerechtigkeiten gelitten, darunter auch solche, die von der Bergbauindustrie begangen wurden. In dieser Arbeit wird mit Hilfe eines ethnografischen Ansatzes die Koexistenz zwischen dem samischen Volk und der Bergbauindustrie untersucht. Die Theorie der Umweltgerechtigkeit von David Schlosberg wird angewandt, um Prinzipien der Umweltgerechtigkeit im Fall von H2 Green Steel zu identifizieren und zu erkennen. Das Ziel dieser Studie ist es, Wege für eine nachhaltigere Koexistenz beider Gruppen zu finden. Die Studie veranschaulicht verschiedene Sichtweisen der verschiedenen Interessengruppen. Sie zeigt, dass die Bergbauindustrie das Potenzial hat, die Ungerechtigkeit gegenüber der samischen Gemeinschaft zu minimieren und die Umwelt durch wirksame Maßnahmen zu schützen.

Los Sami han sufrido diferentes injusticias desde el establecimiento de las fronteras nacionales de los países nórdicos, entre ellas las cometidas por la industria minera. Esta tesis utiliza un enfoque etnográfico para examinar la coexistencia entre el pueblo Sami y la industria minera. Se aplica la teoría de la justicia ambiental de David Schlosberg para identificar y detectar los factores de justicia ambiental en el caso de H2 Green Steel, y la industria minera en general. El objetivo es estudiar si hay una manera de que ambos grupos coexistan de forma más sostenible. El estudio ilustra varios puntos de vista de diferentes actores involucrados, y muestra que la industria minera tiene el potencial de minimizar las injusticias con las comunidades locales, el pueblo Sami y además de proteger el medio ambiente con medidas eficaces. Boden liegt in Norrbotten, dem nördlichsten Bezirk Schwedens und Heimat der Sami. Diese indigene Gruppe gehört zu den schwedischen Minderheiten und lebt seit mehr als tausend Jahren in diesem Gebiet. Ihre Traditionen wie die Rentierzucht sind bis heute erhlaten geblieben. Seit der Festlegung der nationalen Grenzen haben die Sami unter verschiedenen Ungerechtigkeiten gelitten, darunter auch solche, die von der Bergbauindustrie begangen wurden. In dieser Arbeit wird mit Hilfe eines ethnografischen Ansatzes die Koexistenz zwischen dem samischen Volk und der Bergbauindustrie untersucht. Die Theorie der Umweltgerechtigkeit von David Schlosberg wird angewandt, um Prinzipien der Umweltgerechtigkeit im Fall von H2 Green Steel zu identifizieren und zu erkennen. Das Ziel dieser Studie ist es, Wege für eine nachhaltigere Koexistenz beider Gruppen zu finden. Die Studie veranschaulicht verschiedene Sichtweisen der verschiedenen Interessengruppen. Sie zeigt, dass die Bergbauindustrie das Potenzial hat, die Ungerechtigkeit gegenüber der samischen Gemeinschaft zu minimieren und die Umwelt durch wirksame Maßnahmen zu schützen.
