    Fulleranes and quasi-fulleranes as products of fullerenization of molecules of aliphatic and Aromatic Hydrocarbons

    Fullerenization as process of thermal (750-1000°С) of transformation of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons molecules in molecules of quasi-fulleranes (CnHn-6–CnHn-2 (n=20–54)) and fulleranes (in particular, the equiatomic composition C60H60) was performed for the first time. Main feature of fullerenization process is, that its products are formed in all volume of reactionary space, but are located (are deposited and are condensed) in it a low-temperature zone. Extracted from pyrolytic soot the products of benzene and nhexane fullerenization contain the condensed molecules containing up to 4.8 and 5.1 % of hydrogen accordingly, which allocation at thermolysis is began with 50ºС and proceeds up to 750ºС. Products of benzene and n-hexane fullerenization can be perspective for hydrogen storage

    Direct Synthesis of O-doped Carbon Nitride and Oxide of Graphite-like Carbon Nitride from Melamine

    It was first performed a special method of pyrolysis of melamine in order to study the possibility of coproduction of carbon nitride and its oxidized derivatives. New compound as a graphite-like carbon nitride oxide (g-C3N4)O, which is isostructural analogue of graphite oxide, and doped with oxygen ( ~ 8.1 % ), carbon nitride (O-g-C3N4) were obtained. In contrast to known methods for the preparation of samples doped with oxygen carbon nitride a new route does not provide a preliminary synthesis of g-C3N4.The synthesized carbon nitride oxide is easily stratified and dissolved in water to form a flocculent solution which may contain not only ultra-thin nanosheets from several heptazine oxidized layers, but also the individual twodimensional monolayers. These monolayers can be a precursor for making reduced heptazine monolayer (or azagraphene). The synthesized substunces were investigated by methods chemical and X-ray analyses, IR spectroscopy, temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry (TPDMS) obtained products

    New technologies for pneumoenergy production in the underground mines with the help of the ВВ and УКГШ compressors

    A new mine screw compressor unit УКГШ with better fire safety than of previously used units is designed and have already integrated into the coal industry of Ukraine. During the whole period of their operation, there was no fire, which usually occurs with compressor units of other types. One more compressor unit BB is designed, which is equipped with microprocessor control system, high-voltage electric motor, compressor assembly, effective system of air and oil filtration, effective system for vibration reduce, preheating device, unloaded system startup and shutdown. Causes of compressor fault due to the failure of some assemblies were analyzed. Examples of reliability calculations are presented for compressor units and compressor machines in total. Guidelines for improving compressor reliability are: upgrading of compressor design; use of new technology of their exploitation; optimization of their operating modes; use of rapid diagnostic of the compressor state; improvement of preventative maintenance.Створена гвинтова шахтна компресорна установка УКГШ. На підприємствах вугільної промисловості України впроваджені установки компресорні шахтні УКГШ, які мають більш високий рівень пожежної безпеки, ніж застосовувані раніше установки. За час експлуатації не було зафіксовано жодного випадку загоряння, що мало місце при експлуатації компресорних установок інших типів. Розроблена компресорна установка ВВ оснащена мікропроцесорною системою управління, високовольтним електродвигуном, компресорним блоком, ефективною системою фільтрації повітря і масла, ефективною системою зниження вібрації, пристроєм передпускового підігріву, системою розвантажувального пуску і зупинки. Виконано аналіз причин відмови роботи компресорних машин через несправність окремих вузлів. Наведено розрахунки показника надійності вузлів і компресорних машин в цілому. Основними напрямками підвищення надійності компресорних машин є удосконалення конструкції, використання нових технологій експлуатації, оптимізація режимів роботи, використання оперативної діагностики стану, удосконалення системи ППР.Создана винтовая шахтная компрессорная установка УКВШ. На предприятиях угольной промышленности Украины внедрены установки компрессорные шахтные УКВШ, которые имеют более высокий уровень пожарной безопасности, чем применяемые прежде установки. За время эксплуатации не было зафиксировано ни одного случая загорания, что имело место при эксплуатации компрессорных установок других типов. Разработанная компрессорная установка ВВ оснащена микропроцессорной системой управления, высоковольтным электродвигателем, компрессорным блоком, эффективной системой фильтрации воздуха и масла, эффективной системой снижения вибрации, устройством предпускового подогрева, системой разгрузочного пуска и останова. Выполнен анализ причин отказа работы компрессорных машин из-за неисправности отдельных узлов. Приведены расчеты показателя надежности узлов и компрессорных машин в целом. Основными направлениями повышения надежности компрессорных машин является усовершенствование конструкции, использование новых технологий эксплуатации, оптимизация режимов работы, использование оперативной диагностики состояния, усовершенствование системы ППР

    Influence of Gas Physical Properties on Labyrinth Seals Throttling Characteristics

    The most important issue when designing the labyrinth sealing knots is the question of the cor-rectness of the model tests results application. This task has not had a strong solution so far. For practical calculations of labyrinth seals famous formulae for determining leakage through the hole are used. They are supplemented by coefficients obtained experimentally in conditions which practically had nothing to do with full scale ones: flat (non-circular) models are used, possible effect of the shaft rotation and the operating environment behavior are not taken into account. For the purpose of obtaining the answer to a question concerning the impact factor of gas physical properties on the flow characteristics of labyrinth seals a series of physical and nu-merical experiments on various gases were carried out. The studies were conducted under condi-tions maximum approximate to field ones. Pilot studies were conducted on a standard experi-mental bench to specify throttling characteristics of labyrinth seals. Numerical investigations were conducted using the СFD techniques on various gases. Numerical study and experiment confirmed the influence of gas physical properties on throttling characteristics of labyrinth seals. The heavier the gas the more intensive symptoms are. Flow coefficient divergence of the seal run by air and vapor is about 30%. It has been proved and confirmed by experiments. Visualiza-tion of flow has been obtained.     Measurement of the polarisation of W bosons produced with large transverse momentum in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS experiment

    This paper describes an analysis of the angular distribution of W->enu and W->munu decays, using data from pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2010, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 35 pb^-1. Using the decay lepton transverse momentum and the missing transverse energy, the W decay angular distribution projected onto the transverse plane is obtained and analysed in terms of helicity fractions f0, fL and fR over two ranges of W transverse momentum (ptw): 35 < ptw < 50 GeV and ptw > 50 GeV. Good agreement is found with theoretical predictions. For ptw > 50 GeV, the values of f0 and fL-fR, averaged over charge and lepton flavour, are measured to be : f0 = 0.127 +/- 0.030 +/- 0.108 and fL-fR = 0.252 +/- 0.017 +/- 0.030, where the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second include all systematic effects.Comment: 19 pages plus author list (34 pages total), 9 figures, 11 tables, revised author list, matches European Journal of Physics C versio

    Observation of a new chi_b state in radiative transitions to Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) at ATLAS

    The chi_b(nP) quarkonium states are produced in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV and recorded by the ATLAS detector. Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.4 fb^-1, these states are reconstructed through their radiative decays to Upsilon(1S,2S) with Upsilon->mu+mu-. In addition to the mass peaks corresponding to the decay modes chi_b(1P,2P)->Upsilon(1S)gamma, a new structure centered at a mass of 10.530+/-0.005 (stat.)+/-0.009 (syst.) GeV is also observed, in both the Upsilon(1S)gamma and Upsilon(2S)gamma decay modes.     Search for displaced vertices arising from decays of new heavy particles in 7 TeV pp collisions at ATLAS

    We present the results of a search for new, heavy particles that decay at a significant distance from their production point into a final state containing charged hadrons in association with a high-momentum muon. The search is conducted in a pp-collision data sample with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and an integrated luminosity of 33 pb^-1 collected in 2010 by the ATLAS detector operating at the Large Hadron Collider. Production of such particles is expected in various scenarios of physics beyond the standard model. We observe no signal and place limits on the production cross-section of supersymmetric particles in an R-parity-violating scenario as a function of the neutralino lifetime.     Measurement of the inclusive isolated prompt photon cross-section in pp collisions at sqrt(s)= 7 TeV using 35 pb-1 of ATLAS data

    A measurement of the differential cross-section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 7 TeV is presented. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity ranges |eta|<1.37 and 1.52<=|eta|<2.37 in the transverse energy range 45<=E_T<400GeV. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 35 pb-1, collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The yields of the signal photons are measured using a data-driven technique, based on the observed distribution of the hadronic energy in a narrow cone around the photon candidate and the photon selection criteria. The results are compared with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations and found to be in good agreement over four orders of magnitude in cross-section.Comment: 7 pages plus author list (18 pages total), 2 figures, 4 tables, final version published in Physics Letters

    Measurement of D*+/- meson production in jets from pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    This paper reports a measurement of D*+/- meson production in jets from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurement is based on a data sample recorded with the ATLAS detector with an integrated luminosity of 0.30 pb^-1 for jets with transverse momentum between 25 and 70 GeV in the pseudorapidity range |eta| < 2.5. D*+/- mesons found in jets are fully reconstructed in the decay chain: D*+ -> D0pi+, D0 -> K-pi+, and its charge conjugate. The production rate is found to be N(D*+/-)/N(jet) = 0.025 +/- 0.001(stat.) +/- 0.004(syst.) for D*+/- mesons that carry a fraction z of the jet momentum in the range 0.3 < z < 1. Monte Carlo predictions fail to describe the data at small values of z, and this is most marked at low jet transverse momentum.Comment: 10 pages plus author list (22 pages total), 5 figures, 1 table, matches published version in Physical Review
