Operational Research in Education

Operational Research (OR) techniques have been applied, from the early stages of the discipline, to a wide variety of issues in education. At the government level, these include questions of what resources should be allocated to education as a whole and how these should be divided amongst the individual sectors of education and the institutions within the sectors. Another pertinent issue concerns the efficient operation of institutions, how to measure it, and whether resource allocation can be used to incentivise efficiency savings. Local governments, as well as being concerned with issues of resource allocation, may also need to make decisions regarding, for example, the creation and location of new institutions or closure of existing ones, as well as the day-to-day logistics of getting pupils to schools. Issues of concern for managers within schools and colleges include allocating the budgets, scheduling lessons and the assignment of students to courses. This survey provides an overview of the diverse problems faced by government, managers and consumers of education, and the OR techniques which have typically been applied in an effort to improve operations and provide solutions

CPEC and Global Corridors: An Analytical Framework for Pakistan

The program of CPEC is the talk of the town as it is the landmark cooperation for the economy of Pakistan. It is the evidence of strong China-Pakistan friendship but it may test this friendship as Pakistan is going through difficult economic phase. The program encounters a vogue of debate since its inauguration due to its opportunities and associated risks. This study is an attempt to figure out a global perspective of corridors and the differences and similarities of CPEC with these global corridors. We have taken various corridors from Asia, Africa and Europe and highlighted the challenges and policy interventions of the respective corridors. This exercise allows the study to develop an analytical framework to introduce relevant soft interventions at different stages of long-term plan of CPEC. Estudio comparativo de la inversión pública de la Ley Procompite en las provincias de Huaura y Huaral, 2019

La presente investigación que lleva por título: Estudio comparativo de la Inversión Pública de la Ley Procompite en las provincias de Huaura y Huaral, 2019, que tiene el objetivo de describir las diferencias de inversión pública de la Ley Procompite en las provincias de Huaura y Huaral, 2019. Siendo el tipo de investigación aplicada, conocida también como nivel descricptivo práctica o empírica, de enfoque cuantitativo; de diseño no experimental. La población estuvo conformada por 100 beneficiarios de la Ley Procompite que se dedican al cultivo de palta o durazno de los cuales se ha trabajado con una muestra de 78 productores. La técnica empleada para recolectar la información fue a través de encuestas y los instrumentos de recolección de datos (cuestionarios) fueron debidamente validados a través del juicios de expertos y su confiabilidad a través del estadístico Alfa de Cronbach. Según la data procesada se llegó a determinar que el 66.7% de los productores agrícolas de Huaura y Huaral, percibieron que la inversión de la Ley Procompite les ha favorecido en forma Eficiente. Asimismo, se demostró que la inversión pública de la Ley Procompite en las mediciones efectuadas a los productores de Huaral que es 39.17, y los de Huaura es de 39.83, se observa que la mayor media corresponde al grupo de los productores de Huaura; sin embargo al recurrir a la prueba “U” de Mann Whit ney, se tiene que las diferencias son significativas, donde p < 0,05; lo que conlleva a confirmar de que se rechaza la hipótesis nula y se acepte la alterna, vale decir que, existe diferencia significativa de inversión pública de la Ley Procompite en las provincias de Huaura y Huaral, 2019
