    Diffusion Kinetics in Radiation Chemistry. II. One-Radical-One-Solute Model; Calculations

    The general diffusion‐kinetic equations are applied to a one‐radical‐one‐solute model of the radiolysis of dilute aqueous solutions. The validity of the prescribed diffusion approximation is examined. Results of calculations of the effect on the molecular and radical yields of the following parameters are given: solute concentration, solute depletion, shape of initial radical distribution, radical density, diffusion coefficients, and rate constants. Conditions under which a straight track of equal and equidistant spherical spurs can be replaced by either isolated spherical spurs or an axially homogeneous cylindrical track are examined

    This paper considers the rise of community archaeology in England and Wales, its relationships with other branches of archaeology, and its longterm sustainability. Possible meanings of sustainability are discussed from an international and interdisciplinary perspective, before questions of social, intellectual and economic sustainability in community archaeology are considered. It is argued that true sustainability for community archaeology will only be possible if research outcomes and public benefit are considered as being of equal value

    Computational Modeling of the Fanconi Anemia Gene Network and its Connection to Cancer

    Fanconi anemia (FA) is a rare genetic condition in which the cell’s DNA repair machinery is dysregulated, significantly increasing the chances of tumorigenesis. Further research is being done in order to improve patient outcomes and incidences of cancer. Our group created a computational model of the FA DNA repair gene network, which removes interstrand crosslinks found in damaged DNA and repairs it so DNA synthesis can continue. Computer simulations show the number of DNA damage indicators decreased as the pathway continued. This was expected as the FA pathway repairs DNA damage. The goal of this project was to provide further understanding of the protein interactions so that other biologically significant pathways may be added in the future
