The CERN LHC delivered 25/fb of proton-proton collision data in 2011-2012 at sqrt{s} = 7 - 8 TeV centre-of-mass energy to the ATLAS detector. These Run 1 data were used to discover the Higgs boson and measure its properties as well as to perform numerous other tests of the Standard Model via precision measurements and searches for New Physics. In preparation for the Run 2 data taking at sqrt{s} = 13 TeV, the collaboration embarked on an upgrade program during the long LHC machine shutdown in 2013-2015. The early 2015 data set was then used to promptly recommission the apparatus allowing the first physics results to appear already in the summer of 2015. After briefly reviewing the upgrade and the improved performance of the detector, this paper concentrates on the final Run~1 results on Higgs, W and Z boson, electroweak multi-boson and top quark production as well as on searches for supersymmetry and other new phenomena.Comment: Presented on the XXII International Workshop High Energy Physics and Quantum Field Theory (QFTHEP2015), Samara, Russia, 24 Jun - 1 Jul 201

A kérdőíves validáláshoz négy pszichológiai skálát (Életszemlélet Teszt átdolgozott verzió - LOT-R; Beck Depresszió Kérdőív rövidített változat - BDI-R; Spielberger Vonásszorongás Kérdőív - STAI-T; Szubjektív Testi Tünet Skála - PHQ-15) használtunk. | The Hungarian version of the Somatosensory Amplification Scale (SSAS) has been psychometrically evaluated and validated with questionnaires on the samples of university students (N = 184; mean age = 21.43 yrs, SD = 4.124; 38.1% male) and patients visiting their GPs (N = 562; mean age = 46.54 yrs, SD = 17.248; 40.4% male). The scale showed good internal consistency (Cronbach-alfa = 0.70 and 0.77 in the student and the patient samples, respectively). According to the results of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), data from the two samples fitted very well to the hypothesized one-dimensional structure of the scale (CMIN/df = 3.088; CFI = 0.989; NFI = 0.984; RMSEA = 0.053). Four psychological scales (Life Orientation Test revisited — LOT-R; Beck Depression Inventory short version — BDI-R; State-Trait Anxiety Inventory — STAI-T; Subjective Somatic Symptoms — PHQ-15) were used for the validation. On the student sample, SSAS scores significantly correlated with gender, PHQ-15, STAI-T and BDI-R scores. In the multiple linear regression analysis, good predictors of the SSAS scores were gender (p = 0.044) and STAI scores (p = 0.053). On the patient sample, significant correlations with gender, education level, and all four validating scales were found (the correlations were negative in the cases of education level and LOT-R). Significant predictors in the regression equation were PHQ-15 and STAI-T scores (p < 0.001 in both cases). According to the results, the Hungarian version of the SSAS is psychometrically sound and it seems to assess the same psychological construct as the original scale

Safety of a gastropexy device in infants and young children in percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement

In our practice, there is a growing need to perform gastrostomy tube placement in infants and young children with feeding difficulties. To avoid possible complications arising from pull-through method (pull-through PEG) we began to perform a one-step endoscopic gastrostomy with a gastropexy device (push GT). This study aimed to evaluate the safety of this technique in infants and young children. In our study, 60 pull-through PEG and push GT procedures were retrospectively analysed in patients between 2.83 and 8.6 kg. We analysed the adverse events in both groups. Age, sex, weight, diagnosis, early (occurring ≤ 7 days after the procedure) and late (occurring > 7 days after the procedure) complications were compared in the two groups. Median follow-up duration was 12 months. Early minor complications occurred only in the push GT group, but this was not statistically significant. There was no significant difference between the groups regarding early major complications. Late minor complications were significantly more common in the push GT group. There were no late major complications in the push GT group, which is statistically significant. In infants and young children, push GT with a gastropexy device is a safe method to perform gastrostomy even in patients unsuitable for pull-through PEG placement

Reconstruction of primary vertices at the ATLAS experiment in Run 1 proton–proton collisions at the LHC

    Get PDF
This paper presents the method and performance of primary vertex reconstruction in proton–proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS experiment during Run 1 of the LHC. The studies presented focus on data taken during 2012 at a centre-of-mass energy of √s=8 TeV. The performance has been measured as a function of the number of interactions per bunch crossing over a wide range, from one to seventy. The measurement of the position and size of the luminous region and its use as a constraint to improve the primary vertex resolution are discussed. A longitudinal vertex position resolution of about 30μm is achieved for events with high multiplicity of reconstructed tracks. The transverse position resolution is better than 20μm and is dominated by the precision on the size of the luminous region. An analytical model is proposed to describe the primary vertex reconstruction efficiency as a function of the number of interactions per bunch crossing and of the longitudinal size of the luminous region. Agreement between the data and the predictions of this model is better than 3% up to seventy interactions per bunch crossing

Search for new resonances decaying to a W or Z boson and a Higgs boson in the and channels with pp collisions at with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search is presented for new resonances decaying to a W or Z boson and a Higgs boson in the l(+)l(-)b (b) over bar, l nu b (b) over bar, and nu(nu) over barb (b) over bar channels in pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider using a total integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb(-1). The search is conducted by looking for a localized excess in the WH/ZH invariant or transverse mass distribution. No significant excess is observed, and the results are interpreted in terms of constraints on a simplified model based on a phenomenological Lagrangian of heavy vector triplets.
