Magnetic field-dependent interplay between incoherent and Fermi liquid transport mechanisms in low-dimensional tau phase organic conductors
We present an electrical transport study of the 2-dimensional (2D) organic
conductor tau-(P-(S,S)-DMEDT-TTF)_2(AuBr)_2(AuBr_2)_y (y = 0.75) at low
temperatures and high magnetic fields. The inter-plane resistivity rho_zz
increases with decreasing temperature, with the exception of a slight anomaly
at 12 K. Under a magnetic field B, both rho_zz and the in-plane resistivity
plane rho_xx show a pronounced negative and hysteretic magnetoresistance with
Shubnikov de Haas (SdH)oscillations being observed in some (high
quality)samples above 15 T. Contrary to the predicted single, star-shaped,
closed orbit Fermi surface from band structure calculations (with an expected
approximate area of 12.5% of A_FBZ), two fundamental frequencies F_l and F_h
are detected in the SdH signal. These orbits correspond to 2.4% and 6.8% of the
area of the first Brillouin zone(A_FBZ), with effective masses F_l = 4.0 +/-
0.5 and F_h = 7.3 +/- 0.1. The angular dependence, in tilted magnetic fields of
F_l and F_h, reveals the 2D character of the FS and Angular dependent
magnetoresistance (AMRO) further suggests a FS which is strictly 2-D where the
inter-plane hopping t_c is virtually absent or incoherent. The Hall constant
R_xy is field independent, and the Hall mobility increases by a factor of 3
under moderate magnetic fields. Our observations suggest a unique physical
situation where a stable 2D Fermi liquid state in the molecular layers are
incoherently coupled along the least conducting direction. The magnetic field
not only reduces the inelastic scattering between the 2D metallic layers, but
it also reveals the incoherent nature of interplane transport in the AMRO
spectrum. The apparent ferromagnetism of the hysteretic magnetoresistance

Theory of coherent acoustic phonons in InGaN/GaN multi-quantum wells
A microscopic theory for the generation and propagation of coherent LA
phonons in pseudomorphically strained wurzite (0001) InGaN/GaN multi-quantum
well (MQW) p-i-n diodes is presented. The generation of coherent LA phonons is
driven by photoexcitation of electron-hole pairs by an ultrafast Gaussian pump
laser and is treated theoretically using the density matrix formalism. We use
realistic wurzite bandstructures taking valence-band mixing and strain-induced
piezo- electric fields into account. In addition, the many-body Coulomb
ineraction is treated in the screened time-dependent Hartree-Fock
approximation. We find that under typical experimental conditions, our
microscopic theory can be simplified and mapped onto a loaded string problem

Failure analysis of a cracked plate based on endochronic plastic theory coupled with damage
An anisotropic model of damage mechanics for ductile fracture incorporating the endochronic theory of plasticity is presented in order to take into account material deterioration during plastic deformation. An alternative form of endochronic (internal time) theory which is actually an elasto-plastic damage theory with isotropic-nonlinear kinematic hardening is developed for ease of numerical computation. Based on this new damage model, a finite element algorithm is formulated and then employed to characterize the fracture of thin aluminum plate containing a center crack. A new criterion termed as Y R -Criterion is proposed to define both the crack initiation angle and load. Baryon Decuplet to Octet Electromagnetic Transitions in Quenched and Partially Quenched Chiral Perturbation Theory
We calculate baryon decuplet to octet electromagnetic transition form factors
in quenched and partially quenched chiral perturbation theory. We work in the
isospin limit of SU(3) flavor, up to next-to-leading order in the chiral
expansion, and to leading order in the heavy baryon expansion. Our results are
necessary for proper extrapolation of lattice calculations of these
transitions. We also derive expressions for the case of SU(2) flavor away from

Time to get personal? The impact of researchers choices on the selection of treatment targets using the experience sampling methodology:The impact of researchers choices on the selection of treatment targets using the experience sampling methodology
OBJECTIVE: One of the promises of the experience sampling methodology (ESM) is that a statistical analysis of an individualâs emotions, cognitions and behaviors in everyday-life could be used to identify relevant treatment targets. A requisite for clinical implementation is that outcomes of such person-specific time-series analyses are not wholly contingent on the researcher performing them. METHODS: To evaluate this, we crowdsourced the analysis of one individual patientâs ESM data to 12 prominent research teams, asking them what symptom(s) they would advise the treating clinician to target in subsequent treatment. RESULTS: Variation was evident at different stages of the analysis, from preprocessing steps (e.g., variable selection, clustering, handling of missing data) to the type of statistics and rationale for selecting targets. Most teams did include a type of vector autoregressive model, examining relations between symptoms over time. Although most teams were confident their selected targets would provide useful information to the clinician, not one recommendation was similar: both the number (0â16) and nature of selected targets varied widely. CONCLUSION: This study makes transparent that the selection of treatment targets based on personalized models using ESM data is currently highly conditional on subjective analytical choices and highlights key conceptual and methodological issues that need to be addressed in moving towards clinical implementation
Measurement of the cross section of high transverse momentum ZâbbÌ production in protonâproton collisions at âs = 8 TeV with the ATLAS detector
This Letter reports the observation of a high transverse momentum ZâbbÌ signal in protonâproton collisions at âs=8 TeV and the measurement of its production cross section. The data analysed were collected in 2012 with the ATLAS detector at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fbâÂč. The ZâbbÌ decay is reconstructed from a pair of b -tagged jets, clustered with the anti-ktkt jet algorithm with R=0.4R=0.4, that have low angular separation and form a dijet with pT>200 GeVpT>200 GeV. The signal yield is extracted from a fit to the dijet invariant mass distribution, with the dominant, multi-jet background mass shape estimated by employing a fully data-driven technique that reduces the dependence of the analysis on simulation. The fiducial cross section is determined to be
ÏZâbbÂŻfid=2.02±0.20 (stat.) ±0.25 (syst.)±0.06 (lumi.) pb=2.02±0.33 pb,
in good agreement with next-to-leading-order theoretical predictions
Measurement of the branching ratio Î(Îbâ° â Ï(2S)Î0)/Î(Îbâ° â J/ÏÎ0) with the ATLAS detector
An observation of the decay and
a comparison of its branching fraction with that of the decay has been made with the ATLAS detector in
proton--proton collisions at TeV at the LHC using an integrated
luminosity of fb. The and mesons are
reconstructed in their decays to a muon pair, while the decay is exploited for the baryon reconstruction. The
baryons are reconstructed with transverse momentum GeV and pseudorapidity . The measured branching ratio of
the and decays is , lower than the expectation from the
