    Fat penguins and imaginary penguins in perturbative QCD

    We evaluate BKπB\to K\pi decay amplitudes in perturbative QCD picture. It is found that penguin contributions are dynamically enhanced by nearly 50% compared to those assumed in the factorization approximation. It is also shown that annihilation diagrams are not negligible, and give large strong phases.     We study the rare decays B+D()+K()0B^+ \to D^{(*)+}K^{(*)0}, which can occur only via annihilation type diagrams in the standard model.     Universality of Frequency and Field Scaling of the Conductivity Measured by Ac-Susceptibility of a Ybco-Film

    Utilizing a novel and exact inversion scheme, we determine the complex linear conductivity σ(ω)\sigma (\omega ) from the linear magnetic ac-susceptibility which has been measured from 3\,mHz to 50\,MHz in fields between 0.4\,T and 4\,T applied parallel to the c-axis of a 250\,nm thin disk. The frequency derivative of the phase σ/σ\sigma ''/\sigma ' and the dynamical scaling of σ(ω)\sigma (\omega) above and below Tg(B)T_g(B) provide clear evidence for a continuous phase transition at TgT_g to a generic superconducting state. Based on the vortex-glass scaling model, the resulting critical exponents ν\nu and zz are close to those frequently obtained on films by other means and associated with an 'isotropic' vortex glass. The field effect on σ(ω)\sigma(\omega) can be related to the increase of the glass coherence length, ξgB\xi_g\sim B.Comment: 8 pages (5 figures upon request), revtex 3.0, APK.94.01.0

    Synthesis of Pt nanoparticles on electrochemically reduced graphene oxide by potentiostatic and alternate current methods

    Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) has been synthesized on Pt wires by means of a potentiodynamic method between +0.6 V and -1.4'V for 20 scans. Cyclic voltammetry characterization of the coatings showed the typical capacitative behavior of graphene. Pt nanoparticles were synthesized on Pt-RGO electrodes by means of potentiostatic methods and a comparison between different synthesis potentials (-0.16, 0, +0.2 and +0.4 V) for the same synthesis charge (mC.cm(-2)) was established. The electrodes obtained were characterized in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution to observe the characteristic oxidation and reduction processes of the Pt surface. A 0.5 M H2SO4/0.5 M CH3OH solution was used to measure the catalytic properties of the deposits against methanol oxidation. The most appropriate potential to perform the synthesis was 0 V followed by -0.16 V and +0.2 V. The morphology of the coatings varied depending on the potential applied as observed by scanning electron microscopy. Alternate current methods were also used to synthesize Pt nanoparticles and compare the results with the traditional potentiostatic method. Different frequencies were used: 0.1, 1, 10, 100, 1000 and 10000 Hz. Alternate current synthesis is more efficient than traditional potentiostatic methods, obtaining more electroactive coatings with less effective synthesis time. (C) 2014 Elsevier Inc.     The ATLAS trigger system is a crucial component of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. It is responsible for selecting events in line with the ATLAS physics programme. This paper presents an overview of the changes to the trigger and data acquisition system during the second long shutdown of the LHC, and shows the performance of the trigger system and its components in the proton-proton collisions during the 2022 commissioning period as well as its expected performance in proton-proton and heavy-ion collisions for the remainder of the third LHC data-taking period (2022–2025)

    Combination of searches for heavy spin-1 resonances using 139 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    A combination of searches for new heavy spin-1 resonances decaying into diferent pairings of W, Z, or Higgs bosons, as well as directly into leptons or quarks, is presented. The data sample used corresponds to 139 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV collected during 2015–2018 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Analyses selecting quark pairs (qq, bb, tt¯, and tb) or third-generation leptons (τν and τ τ ) are included in this kind of combination for the frst time. A simplifed model predicting a spin-1 heavy vector-boson triplet is used. Cross-section limits are set at the 95% confdence level and are compared with predictions for the benchmark model. These limits are also expressed in terms of constraints on couplings of the heavy vector-boson triplet to quarks, leptons, and the Higgs boson. The complementarity of the various analyses increases the sensitivity to new physics, and the resulting constraints are stronger than those from any individual analysis considered. The data exclude a heavy vector-boson triplet with mass below 5.8 TeV in a weakly coupled scenario, below 4.4 TeV in a strongly coupled scenario, and up to 1.5 TeV in the case of production via vector-boson fusion

    Measurement of the VH,H → ττ process with the ATLAS detector at 13 TeV

    A measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson produced in association with a W or Z boson and decaying into a pair of τ-leptons is presented. This search is based on proton-proton collision data collected at √s = 13 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb−1. For the Higgs boson candidate, only final states with at least one τ-lepton decaying hadronically (τ →hadrons + vτ ) are considered. For the vector bosons, only leptonic decay channels are considered: Z → ℓℓ and W → ℓvℓ, with ℓ = e, μ. An excess of events over the expected background is found with an observed (expected) significance of 4.2 (3.6) standard deviations, providing evidence of the Higgs boson produced in association with a vector boson and decaying into a pair of τ-leptons. The ratio of the measured cross-section to the Standard Model prediction is μττ VH = 1.28 +0.30 −0.29 (stat.) +0.25 −0.21 (syst.). This result represents the most accurate measurement of the VH(ττ) process achieved to date
