Contemporary curating practices: authorship, negotiations and collaborations

O artigo discute brevemente a formação dos primeiros museus modernos e a constituição de seus acervos para compreender quando o aparecimento de uma figura que “zelasse” por essas coleções passou a ser solicitada pelo sistema da arte A partir das transformações dos espaços expositivos até o cubo branco moderno – modelo que se firmou e ainda ecoa como resposta para as mais variadas proposições expositivas – surgiria o curador, cuja função se situa entre a instituição, a crítica e a prática artística. No entanto, seria a partir de meados do século XX que a curadoria se firmaria como presença constante no campo da arte, seja por seu papel na formação de público (como mediador dos diálogos entre artistas e exposição), seja por intermediar as cada vez mais complexas relações entre artistas e instituições. Assim, a prática curatorial e seus desafios são discutidos aqui por meio de autores como Terry Smith, Hans Ulrich Obrist e Claire Bishop, e também em exposições como as Number Exhibitions (1969-1973) de Lucy Lippard, When attitudes become form: live in your head (1969) de Harald Szeemann, Magiciens de la Terre (1973) de Jean-Hubert Martin. São exemplos em que questões autorais no trabalho do curador bem como a ideia de um curador-artista se fizeram presentes. Por fim, comentaremos eventos de arte motivados pelo universo doméstico, em que o debate sobre autoria e também sobre aspectos colaborativos borrariam as fronteiras entre práticas artísticas e curatoriais, como em Kitchen Show (1991), em Moradas do Íntimo (Brasília, 2009), Estudos de Recepção (Vitória e Vila Velha, 2015), entre outras.  The article briefly discusses the creation of the first modern museums and the establishment of their collections to understand when the appearance of a figure that would “watch over” those collections came to be requested by the art system. However, it would be in the mid-twentieth century that curation would become omnipresent in the art system, whether by its role in educating the audience (as a mediator between artists and exhibitions), whether by mediating the increasingly complex relationships between artists and institutions. Therefore, curation is debated here having as examples authors such as Terry Smith, Hans Ulrich Obrist and Claire Bishop, as well as exhibitions such as Lucy Lippard’s Number Exhibitions (1969-1973), Harald Szeemann’s When attitudes become form: live in your head (1969), Jean-Hubert Martin’s Magiciens de la Terre (1973). Those events are examples in which the notions of an authorial role of the curator as well as the curator-artist were present. Finally, we will comment on events inspired by the domestic realm where authorship and collaborative aspects would blur the borders between artistic and curatorial practices, such as in Kitchen Show: World Soup (1991), Moradas do Íntimo (Brasília, 2009), Estudos de Recepção - arte contemporânea em espaços domésticos (Vitória and Vila Velha, 2015), among others.  El artículo retoma rápidamente la formación de los primeros museos modernos y la naturaleza de sus acervos para comprender el surgimiento de una figura que "cuidara" a estas colecciones y cúando esta fue solicitada por el sistema del arte. A partir de esas transformaciones de los espacios expositivos hasta el cubo blanco moderno – modelo que se consolidó y que todavía es utilizado cómo respuesta en las más variadas propuestas expositivas – surgiría el curador de arte, cuya función está entre la institución, la crítica y la práctica artistica. Sin embargo, sería a partir de mediados del siglo XX que la curaduría se afirmaría como presencia constante en el sistema del arte, sea por su papel en la formación del público (como mediador entre artistas y exposición), sea por intermediar las complejas relaciones entre artistas e instituciones. Curadoria e prática artística : reflexões sobre a curadoria contemporânea e o trânsito entre as atuações do artista e do curador

A dissertação investiga questões relacionadas à emergência, desenvolvimento e desafios da curadoria contemporânea, considerando as transformações sofridas por museus e galerias ao longo das décadas, principalmente com a contribuição das vanguardas modernistas do século XX. Busca ainda apresentar, sob a perspectiva do artista como curador e do curador como artista, uma análise das tensões e implicações que tal trânsito pode criar. Como ponto de partida, retomamos brevemente a formação dos primeiros museus e a constituição de seus acervos para compreender quando o aparecimento de uma figura que “zelasse” por essas coleções passou a ser solicitada pelo sistema da arte. No entanto, seria a partir de meados do século XX que a curadoria se firmaria como presença constante no sistema da arte, seja por seu papel na formação de público (como mediador dos diálogos entre artistas e exposição), seja por intermediar as cada vez mais complexas relações entre artistas e instituições. A figura do curador tem gradativamente se sobressaído no circuito artístico e à sua função prática original, a de preservação de coleções e organização de mostras, tem se somado uma ação que integra conceitualmente a experiência da obra de arte. A “curadoria” é discutida, portanto, tendo como base exposições cujas noções de curadoria autoral, do curador-como-artista ou do artista-comocurador se fizeram presentes, mas também em eventos onde o aspecto colaborativo, entre práticas artísticas e curatoriais, diluiria as fronteiras entre esses campos de atuação. Por meio de uma pesquisa teórica – cuja bibliografia engloba aquela produzida por artistas, curadores, críticos e demais pensadores ligados ao sistema da arte –, estudos de caso e entrevistas, investigamos o deslocamento (em via de mão dupla) entre as atividades de artistas e de curadores em proposições expositivas dentro e fora dos espaços especializados da arte. Analisamos, por fim, a prática curatorial na contemporaneidade com vistas à ampliação da discussão e suas perspectivas.The thesis investigates matters related to the emergence, development and challenges of contemporary curation, taking into consideration the transformations undergone by museums and art galleries throughout the decades, mainly due the Modernist Vanguards of the twentiethcentury. It aims to present, under the perspective of the artist-as-curator and the curator-asartist, an analysis of tensions and implications that such transit can create. As a starting point, we have briefly discussed the formation of the first museums and the establishment of their collections to understand when the appearance of a figure that would “watch over” those collections came to be requested by the art system. However, it would be in the mid-twentieth century that curation would become omnipresent in the art system, whether by its role in educating the audiences (as a mediator between artists and exhibitions), whether by mediating the increasing complex relationships between artists and institutions. The figure of the curator has been gradually standing out in the art scene and to its original practical function, managing collections and organizing art shows, it has been added one that incorporates conceptually the experience of the artworks. Therefore, curation is debated here having as examples exhibitions in which the notions of an authorial curation, curator-as-artist and artist-as-curator were present, but also in events where the collaborative aspect between artistic and curatorial practices would dilute the borders between those playing fields. Through a theoretical research - that comprehends a bibliography written by artists, curators, critics, theorists and other scholars related to the art system, case studies and interviews, we have investigated the displacement (in a two-way road) between the activities of artists and curators in exhibition proposals inside and outside specialized art venues. Análisis acústico de los sonidos de la deglución con el uso de Sonar Doppler en bebés prematuros durante la transición alimentaria

Objective: To define the acoustic parameters and the feasibility of using swallowing acoustic analysis as an auxiliary method for the transition from nasogastric or orogastric tube feeding to oral breastfeeding. Methodology: A cross-sectional study, which consisted of the following steps: 1. Data collection: Thirty-two newborns participated in this study (16 preterm and 16 full-term); 2. Clinical speech-language pathology evaluation: Clinical data were collected using Sonar Doppler used to assess the readiness of preterm infants to start oral feeding and swallowing sounds. Swallowing sounds were captured during breastfeeding and analyzed according to the frequency, intensity, and time of swallowing, as well as the pause time between swallows and the number of swallows. Results: The control and study groups presented significant differences in the mean wave time and swallowing per minute variables. Conclusion: Sonar Doppler, as an instrument used to capture sounds, is a viable auxiliary resource to evaluate the transition from nasogastric or orogastric tube to oral breastfeeding.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The challenge of managing Mycosis Fungoides: a case report

Objective: To report a case of mycosis fungoides in a patient monitored by the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Vitória Hospital (HSCMV) who died. Method: after approval by the Research Ethics Committee, we retrieved the patient's records from the HSCMV information system and reviewed the document retrospectively for the case description.. Case report: Male, 60 years old, attended an appointment in 2017 with the complaint of xerosis, pruritus, and pain. He underwent a biopsy of skin lesions on the dorsum and abdomen that diagnosed mycosis fungoides. Despite treatment with phototherapy and methotrexate, the disease progressed. In 2021, he was admitted to the HSCMV and started chemotherapy without complete remission. He evolved to death by septic shock in February 2022. Final considerations: Mycosis fungoides presents itself in a nonspecific form, making the diagnosis a challenge. Thereby, it could delay the establishment of effective treatment, worsening the prognosis

O carcinoma de células escamosas (CCE) é um tumor maligno de origem epitelial comum em animais de pele clara e com exposição prolongada à luz ultravioleta (UV). O presente trabalho tem por objetivo relatar um caso de canino diagnosticado com Carcinoma de Células Escamosas (CCE), sendo realizado exérese cirúrgica com a utilização de retalho de padrão axial da artéria ilíaca circunflexa para correção do defeito. Uma cadela, bulldog francês, com oito anos de idade, foi avaliada apresentando lesão ulcerativa com cerca de 12cm2 em região dorso caudal, próximo ao períneo. O diagnóstico de CCE foi realizado através do exame histopatológico. As margens cirúrgicas estavam livres de tumoração. Optou-se pela utilização de técnica de cirurgia reconstrutiva para fechamento da ferida, sendo realizado o flap da artéria ilíaca circunflexo profunda, não sendo observada nenhuma complicação pós cirúrgica. A técnica foi considerada satisfatória para correção do defeito cirúrgico, permitindo uma exérese completa do tumor

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a malignant tumor of common epithelial origin in light-skinned animals with prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. The present study aims to report a case of canine diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and surgical excision with the use of an axial pattern flap of the deep circumflex iliac artery to correct the defect. A French bulldog, eight years old, was evaluated presenting ulcerative lesion with about 12 cm2 in the caudal back region of the animal, close to the perineum. The diagnosis of SCC was made through histopathological examination. The surgical margins were free of tumor. We chose to use a reconstructive surgery technique to close the wound, and the flap of the deep circumflex iliac artery was performed, and no postoperative complications were observed. Mortality and pulmonary complications in patients undergoing surgery with perioperative SARS-CoV-2 infection: an international cohort study

Background: The impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) on postoperative recovery needs to be understood to inform clinical decision making during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study reports 30-day mortality and pulmonary complication rates in patients with perioperative SARS-CoV-2 infection. Methods: This international, multicentre, cohort study at 235 hospitals in 24 countries included all patients undergoing surgery who had SARS-CoV-2 infection confirmed within 7 days before or 30 days after surgery. The primary outcome measure was 30-day postoperative mortality and was assessed in all enrolled patients. The main secondary outcome measure was pulmonary complications, defined as pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, or unexpected postoperative ventilation. Findings: This analysis includes 1128 patients who had surgery between Jan 1 and March 31, 2020, of whom 835 (74·0%) had emergency surgery and 280 (24·8%) had elective surgery. SARS-CoV-2 infection was confirmed preoperatively in 294 (26·1%) patients. 30-day mortality was 23·8% (268 of 1128). Pulmonary complications occurred in 577 (51·2%) of 1128 patients; 30-day mortality in these patients was 38·0% (219 of 577), accounting for 81·7% (219 of 268) of all deaths. In adjusted analyses, 30-day mortality was associated with male sex (odds ratio 1·75 [95% CI 1·28–2·40], p\textless0·0001), age 70 years or older versus younger than 70 years (2·30 [1·65–3·22], p\textless0·0001), American Society of Anesthesiologists grades 3–5 versus grades 1–2 (2·35 [1·57–3·53], p\textless0·0001), malignant versus benign or obstetric diagnosis (1·55 [1·01–2·39], p=0·046), emergency versus elective surgery (1·67 [1·06–2·63], p=0·026), and major versus minor surgery (1·52 [1·01–2·31], p=0·047). Interpretation: Postoperative pulmonary complications occur in half of patients with perioperative SARS-CoV-2 infection and are associated with high mortality. Thresholds for surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic should be higher than during normal practice, particularly in men aged 70 years and older. Consideration should be given for postponing non-urgent procedures and promoting non-operative treatment to delay or avoid the need for surgery. Margens inquietas, fronteiras instáveis: relações de (in)dependência no sistema da arte a partir dos anos 1990

Tese de Doutoramento em Arte Contemporânea apresentada ao Colégio das Artes da Universidade de Coimbra.A tese está centrada no estudo do lugar do artista contemporâneo e sua relação com os circuitos de produção, circulação e recepção de trabalhos de arte. Busca, por meio do entendimento do complexo relacionamento entre instituições de arte e artistas apresentar experiências em que um posicionamento crítico aos circuitos hegemônicos tem impactado seu funcionamento, colocando em xeque o papel e as perspectivas futuras sobre museus e galerias. Propõe também debater a existências de “práticas independentes”, que acontecem de forma desterritorializada, gerando articulações e estratégias para a produção artística, sobretudo por meio do aprendizado com projetos recentes e plataformas de criação (a exemplo de residências artísticas e espaços alternativos), a partir dos anos 1990. A produção de trabalhos artísticos cada vez mais alinhados com questões sócio-políticas têm encontrado reverberações tanto em espaços mais alternativos quanto em grandes instituições de arte - essas, inclusive, têm cada vez mais assumido espaços de experimentação e atividades reflexivas em suas dependências. Por meio de uma pesquisa teórico-prática, informada por uma bibliografia produzida por praticantes e pensadores ligados ao sistema da arte, investiga-se as relações de interdependência desses sistemas (instituições, coletivos e indivíduos), ainda pouco exploradas academicamente. A reflexão acontece, por fim, na realização de projetos artísticos e curatoriais, que investigam a prática dita independente na contemporaneidade com vistas à ampliação da discussão e suas perspectivas.The thesis focuses on studying the artist's role today and his relationship with the production, circulation, and reception of artworks. Through an understanding of the complex relationship between art institutions and artists, it seeks to present experiences in which a more critical approach to the so-called hegemonic frameworks has impacted its functioning, questioning their role and future perspectives. It also proposes the existence of "independent practices," which happen in a displaced manner, thus generating articulations and strategies for artistic production, as seen in recent projects developed by platforms such as artistic residences and alternative spaces, from the 1990s onwards. The production of artworks driven by socio-political matters has found repercussions both in alternative spaces and in large art institutions - which have increasingly taken on spaces for experimentation and reflexive activities in their premises. Through theoretical and practical research, informed by a bibliography produced by practitioners and thinkers linked to the art system, the interdependency relations of these systems (institutions, collectives, and individuals), still little explored academically, are investigated. Finally, the reflection takes place in the conceptualization and execution of artistic and curatorial projects, which investigate the so-called independent practice in contemporary times with a keen eye to broadening the discussion and its perspectives

"Os cantores do Senhor": três trajetórias em um processo de industrialização da música evangélica no Brasil

Em especial nas duas últimas décadas, visando atingir o segmento evangélico que está se expandindo rapidamente no Brasil, várias empresas, de diferentes setores, se especializaram na fabricação de "produtos evangélicos". No conjunto dessas empresas, a indústria fonográfica tem se destacado e contribuído, juntamente com as rádios do segmento, para a adoção de um estilo mais industrial na produção e na divulgação dos álbuns evangélicos. Neste artigo, a partir da trajetória de três cantores evangélicos, procuro compreender a maneira como eles se posicionam em relação às novas condições profissionais mencionadas. Além disso, pretendo indicar alguns problemas e "fissuras" que passaram a ocorrer no meio musical evangélico a partir da incorporação de uma lógica mercantil e industrial.<br>Over the two past decades, in special, several companies from different production areas, aiming to reach the evangelical segment, which is expanding rapidly in Brazil, have specialized in manufacturing evangelical products. Among these companies, the music industry has given an outstanding contribution, as well as the radios in this segment, in order to adopt a more industrial style in the production and broadcasting of the evangelical albums. Through the analysis of the career of three Gospel singers, the objective of this article is to understand the way these artists are behaving regarding the new professional conditions previously mentioned. Besides, our intention is also to point out some problems and "ruptures" occurring in the musical universe of the evangelists, since a mercantile and industrial logic was incorporated to this universe

SITUAÇÃO EPIDEMIOLÓGICA DAS INTERNAÇÕES POR TRANSTORNOS MENTAIS DEVIDO AO ABUSO DE ÁLCOOL NO ESTADO DO PIAUÍ DE 2013 A 2022.

&lt;p&gt;O consumo excessivo de álcool pode provocar transtornos mentais e comportamentais, e podem levar a internações hospitalares, que representam um custo significativo para o sistema de saúde. O objetivo foi compreender a situação atual das internações por transtornos mentais devido ao uso de álcool no Piauí, durante o período de 2013 a 2022, utilizando dados presentes no Sistema de Informações Hospitalares da plataforma DATASUS. Foram aprovadas 3.406 internações por transtornos mentais devido ao uso de álcool, sendo 3.039 (89,22%) em homens e 367 em mulheres (10,7%), uma proporção de 8,3:1. Ocorreram 22 mortes, sendo 20 (0,68%) em homens e 2 em mulheres. A maioria das internações foi de pessoas pardas, com 2.887 aprovações (84,77%). O maior número de AIH foi de 40-49 anos, com 1.025 internações (28,4%). Em relação aos óbitos, a maioria ocorreu nas faixas etárias de 20-29 anos e de 50-59 anos. 100% dos pacientes foram atendidos em caráter de urgência. Com base nos dados apresentados, pode-se notar que o uso de álcool e os consequentes transtornos mentais são um problema significativo no estado do Piauí, afetando principalmente os homens, de cor parda, localizados na região de saúde Entre Rios, na faixa etária de 40 a 49 anos, o que demonstra que essa é uma questão impactante para a população em idade produtiva.&lt;/p&gt
